Also…” I paused, letting the flashbulbs blink like fireworks, “I’m officially coming out of hiatus. I’m open for roles—big or small, I don’t care. I lost myself in that marriage. This is me, taking back everything I gave up. Also, Director G. Phillips contacted me for a role. I’ll be making my comeback in his latest movie, ‘Love for a Thousand Years’. Thank you.” The room went wild. “She’s opening her own charity? That’s a direct slap to the Yaldon family!” “She’s asking for war.” “She’s all talk now, but can she back it up?” I picked a man in a faded blue shirt. He looked stunned that I’d called on him.

It was only obvious he would play it sooner than later, but she couldn’t believe he knew the acoustic version. Enemy had been No Return’s breakthrough hit worldwide, but she’d never particularly liked it. Until she’d found an old acoustic version on a video with under a hundred views. It had made her rediscover the song. The lyrics remained the same, but the words had a whole different meaning. Like spinning the lens into focus, the acoustic version left the spite out to give room to deeper emotions that had touched her. It was no longer a resented rant but a bittersweet reflection about a hard breakup.

I tipped my chin to meet his gaze challengingly, my eyes gleaming with all the rage and bitterness that I had harbored for five years. "You have no right over my son, Reese. Hand him over right now! And yes, I am Valeria, the woman whom you banished five years ago. I have returned to make you suffer and pay for everything you have done." I growled through gritted teeth, fury and betrayal simmering inside of me. Reese's face contorted with confusion and guilt. Something flashed through his eyes that I couldn't quite put a finger on. Then he quizzed, his brows knitting together in confusion,

Someone sighed, "So, not even our top agent could successfully execute this mission." Another person gave a painful laugh, "If she didn't have a chance, so do we."

She's coming back in a new book which I will release in the first quarter of next year. Don't forget to leave a five star review if you enjoyed the story. Toodles, Roman/Ginika.

“What’s your personal reaction?” Alexa steepled her fingers under her chin. “To be honest with you,” she said after a moment, “it’s all of the above. I hate the thought that I might somehow be responsible for this lunatic, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pleased by the attention. This is a tough business, especially for a small company like ours, and ratings are the bottom line. But I’d prefer we got our ratings some other way.” Conner studied her face, finding it hard to believe that this beautiful woman could be even a little pleased that a string of murders had helped her show. But he knew hearts ran hard in Hollywood. “Your ratings are up, then, I take it?” he asked.

"0.9°F below optimal. Quality control, Evelyn. That's your lifeline. This? Not impressive." I was toast. All I could think. If my rating dipped below 9, I'd be doomed. She lifted her hand, swiping invisible menus to score me. And yeah—I actually wondered: 'when the system deletes you, is it lights out or does it HURT?' [SYSTEM NOTICE: Order complete] [Customer: Madam Faceless] [Service Rating: 9.1] [Customer Note: Temperature was slightly off, but considering the rider dodged 17 Roaming Specters and drifted through the Hall of Echoes, performance is barely acceptable. Try harder next time.]

Lumi’s POV My lips part, the word is already there, sitting on my tongue. Waiting. “Yes.” It comes out softer than I expected, but I don’t break eye contact. Because if I’m saying yes, I’m not going to make it easy for him. I tilt my head slightly. “But don’t think that fixes your rating.” A faint smirk touches his lips. “Still a three?” he murmurs. “Maybe a two,” I reply, shrugging lightly. “You didn’t even try last time.”
