I’m wearing a giant black t-shirt that’s a part of Tate’s Shadow uniform. I look around the bedroom, seeing I’m back in the mansion.

Huuuk! Huuk! Huukkk!” She leaned forward, one hand propped on the bed while another holding her red popping neck with sweat covered her whole body.

I continued to walk until we arrived at my monitoring location, where I had placed Henna a while ago. Tsk. The sleeping beauty had not yet awakened. Shadow’s puzzled expression face me as he looks at Henna. “This is what I'm giving you, Sha —, what's your real name? I can't call you Shadows at all times. ” I asked, pausing in the middle of my sentence. "Kirogoushi Hanashima, but you can call me Kiro." He replied, walking in front of Henna and removing the eyepatch Why didn't I think of that sooner? Tsk.

Before warning, the closet doors swing open, exposing me to a seriously angry Tristen. I know what's to come, and it won't be pretty. He reaches out to grab my arm and pulls me out of the closet as I kick and scream in protest. "Look who's trying to hide in the shadows, Shadow!" Tristen's raspy voice and added sarcasm to my name makes me want to puke. He hurls me to the ground. I fall face first, emitting a loud groan as the sharp, throbbing pain takes place on my forehead.

I shook my head again. “I don’t know.” But I did. And I didn’t want to say it out loud. Because the bond pulsed again beneath my ribs. Slower this time. Not pain. More like awareness. Like something listening. Outside, the leader Shadow Wolf moved closer to the broken doorway again. Unhurried. Patient. Its gaze fixed on me like it had never left. And when it spoke— its voice carried differently now. Calmer. Certain. “He’s already waking it.”

A low growl dragged me out of sleep. My eyes snapped open in the dim light of the cave. For one confused heartbeat, I thought I was back on the battlefield, surrounded by chaos and the clash of steel. My hand reached instinctively for the sword beside me before my mind caught up with reality. The cave. The mountains. The curse that was slowly consuming me. Another growl echoed outside, closer this time. Shadow lifted his head immediately, his ears flattening against his skull as he stepped protectively in front of the cave entrance.

Distant. "Tell me what it was like growing up.” I smoothed her hair, “Did you have friends? Were you happy? What made you laugh?" No response. Just that terrible, endless stillness. "Tell me about the first time you shifted. Or your favorite food. Or…" My voice broke. "Or anything. Just wake up and yell at me. Tell me I'm an arrogant bastard who doesn't deserve you. I don't care. Just open your eyes." Shadow suddenly stood, his tail beginning to wag slowly. My wolf suddenly pushed forward, alert and focused.

And somewhere in that darkness, unseen but awake, the Shadow smiled. The hunt had begun. ---

We can see through the darkness luckily because so can Bane and his men apparently and they advance as soon as the fog covers the whole area. ‘Now Tristan.’ I mindlink our Beta, and he howls from somewhere to my left. Shadow rubs his head against Dawn, and she reciprocates his affection before the first rogue is over us. Shadow takes him down without a hitch, tearing his throat out. Another rogue comes at us and Dawn makes short progress, killing him as well, throwing his body into an advancing Bane.
