Back then, she had stood me up, so I’d gone on a business trip alone. On the way back, my wallet was stolen overseas. I didn’t know the place, had no money, and went three days without food. In the end, I fainted on the street and was only saved because some kind fellow countrymen helped me.
After I returned home, I asked her why she never tried to find me.
She’d scoffed dismissively. “You didn’t tell me when you were coming back or give me a call. How was I supposed to know where you were?”
