Something in me recognised the ache in those paintings. “Why do you have these?” I asked, pointing toward the art on the wall. Adrains steps slowed as he turned to look at me.

The trees seemed to huddle close, their branches twisting like fingers. But it was the paintings that really held me. He had paintings hung up on his walls. Pictures of werewolves They were everywhere, spaced carefully along the walls. Each one was different, from Alphas to Betaa to Gammas. I could tell by their images from my intense research on them. Landscapes drenched in moonlight. Wolves hidden in the shadows, their eyes glinting like stars through the dark. And the portraits... those were the ones that made me pause.

The air was heavy with the scent of aged papers, and leather-bound books that had imprinted words of inks that could barely be erased on them. Sunlight streamed through the tall, arched windows up the wall, casting a warm glow on the rows upon rows of bookshelves that lined the walls. The shelves, which were works of art, crafted from rich mahogany with their surfaces polished to a gleaming shine, were reaching towards the high ceiling that seemed endless in a beautiful arrangement.
