For a short time, I felt whole. Following the annihilation of the cats, the pain of losing my mate returned with a vengeance. I stayed with Marcus and Amy and visited my twins for a few days after the war before returning to Mexico to help with the cleanup. Female feline stragglers and children came in slowly and received safe passage to Marcus's clan. The Canadian cats asked that willing females join them instead of going to Marcus's clan. I was fine with any and all cats leaving the US. Even though I knew the female cats weren't responsible for the desolate life I now lived, and suffered horribly at the hands of their males, I couldn't handle being close to them. I hated their smell and mo

The post kept getting more and more comments. Among the crowded threads, a familiar cartoon avatar caught my eye. "Bestie, you've really got it rough. What normal company operates like this? This is straight-up exploitation. Here's a tip. If you're fed up, keep an eye out for violations at your company and report them. It works every time." A second later, the original poster replied, "I was thinking the same thing, bestie! I'm already working on it and will give you all an update when there's progress."

And in that silence I looked at Austin, seated beside me at the war council table for the first time, and I thought, "five packs just declared war on one Omega who they are terrified of." They should be.

,is asked before I start. "we got three allies coming which means three different packs ate a day away from getting here. We will destroy all of them but the pack will remain locked down till all threats are gone. Kat had a successful surgery to remove a tumor and should be home later today. I appreciate all the well wishes and gifts. If you have to go anywhere let warriors know right away so everyone is accounted for",I sigh as the murmurs start. The Atlantian guards infront of the door were doing their best to fight off the combination of freaks and Vampires that had accumulated infront of the door, but they were slowly falling one by one. It took no time for me and the large werecat to jump into the battle and begin our assault on the dark forces. As I fought with my hands, having no elemental resources to pull from, the large werecat let out a ferocious roar that made the tunnels around us rattle as it echoed down them. Before long many other werecats were there with us, immersed in the battle ripping the Vampires and freaks apart with their sharp teeth and even sharper claws. The screams of those dark creatures would forever be i

His chest heaved, the fabric of his shirt straining against shoulders that looked ready to burst. "It’s not a choice, Alpha." The old healer, Martha, didn't flinch. She kept her withered hands steady over a bubbling glass beaker. The air in the small room was thick with the copper tang of blood and the sour stench of the violet rot. "The infection has reached the brain stems of the warriors in the North corridor. Within the hour, they won’t be wolves anymore. They’ll be husks. Machines of meat and madness."

"Alpha, two more wards. The warriors are showing the same symptoms." Shit. My heart clenched. I followed as he led the way, Tom at my heels. The scene that met me stole the air from my chest. Blood slicked the floor, thick in the air like iron mist. Warriors writhed on their cots, coughing until crimson sprayed their hands and sheets. The doctors flurried helplessly from one bed to another, their white coats smeared red. My chest tightened. Infection. It had to be infection. Their wounds, their closeness in these wards, it explained everything. It had to.
