Like someone had placed it there for me to find. My fingers curled around the book. I lifted it slowly, carefully opening the cover. There was no title. Just brittle pages covered in faded script and lunar markings. Symbols I didn’t recognise. In the middle of the book, tucked between a page of symbols and another of warnings, I saw it. A story of a wolf with a soul that refused to leave the world of the living. It told of a warrior who died in battle, his body cold, his mate devastated. But she didn’t let go.

Ash chuckles, “It’s okay, we managed.” She nods, “Could I have the book to look at while we wait for Serena?” Kai nods and gets up to grab it. They had re-wrapped it in the silk scarf that Benny had given it to her in. She lets Kai unwrap it and place it on her lap. The book is clearly ancient, but the leather of the cover is in remarkable condition. But then it had been stored in a dragon’s hoard for years. The cover had an embossed phoenix on it, and a few gems in gold settings to highlight some details.

He heard his friends calling him, but he ignored them and walked straight to Callie's table. Callie cast a glance in the direction of the approaching Clyde. She pretended to be reading the book she was holding. "Hey," Clyde let out before taking a seat next to her. "Hello," she said. "What are you reading?" Clyde asked, sneaking a peek at what she was reading. "Werewolves!" he said, smiling. Callie put the book down because nothing in it was true. They were all made up. "I was bored and picked up the first book I saw on the shelf."

From what I hear, they seem to value it very highly. When he finally stops, I also stop at a particularly thick book called Werewolves, Spires, and Shifters: Complete Edition. On the front is a picture of a menacing werewolf ready to devour a human and a human fighting a truly horrible Shifter with a strange spear. I pull it off the rest, hiding it behind me.

Curious, I picked it and read the words written on the hard cover; ‘Lobo’ was the single word that was inscribed into the thick cover. I opened the first page and saw that it was written in foreign language. I glanced at Sir Nich, he was engrossed in whatever he was writing. I returned my attention to the hand-drawn, black ink pictures in the book. They were of some kind of beast. The beast that I saw looked like a giant wolf and the artist had put extra effort in drawing their deathly eyes. There were several writings on the page. ‘Only if I could understand this,’ I thought. The book had caught my interest. I was so indulged in the drawing of the creatures that I hadn’t noticed Sir Nich wa

he slurs, pointing an accusatory finger. Kael pokes his tongue out childishly at him, and then proceeds to wrap his arms around me fully. Zeke growls and makes his way towards us, and Kael turns on his heels. They take off running immediately around the campfires like deranged toddlers playing a high-stakes game of tag. Warriors erupt in cheers, picking sides. Someone immediately starts chanting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” while someone else yells in panic, “No actual fighting! The Alpha will definitely lose and get injured!”

My eyes slowly moved to spot the velvet-covered book and something written on it with golden ink that shined in the light coming through the open window. Despite thinking to ignore it at first, I found myself walking towards it a few moments later. Something about leaving this book without looking through it did not feel right to me, it just made me feel some sort of anxiousness I was not ready to deal with. I walked closer to the book and picked it up. On the blood-red colored cover of the book, there remained written in bold golden letters— Predators. The confusion took over whilst I looked at the name, my fingertips brushed on the velvet feeling the smoothness of it, and then I slowly ope

“Wait, I’ll draw it for you.” The elf went inside again. Alarick stood there in his combat armor and black fur cloak, helmet hanging in one hand, waiting. Always waiting, for his elf. When Erriene came back, he had a piece of parchment in his hand and a fresh quick drawing of a plant. Alarick took it from him, and looked down at it when Erriene suddenly tiptoed with a hand on his armored chest for balance, then he felt Erriene lightly touch his forehead with the tips of his fingers.

It took him an hour to figure out how it works hahaha. He soon turned the book over to check it's title. On the cover, among the pretty colorful gems and butterfly designs is a title of bold golden letters that brought a sudden shiver to his body. 🌹Ruby and Aurelius🌹
