Amelia's POV. This would change everything. It definitely should. The paper trembled slightly in my hand and I glanced at the results again, just to be sure I wasn't imagining it. Three weeks pregnant. The words blurred as my eyes got filled with tears of joy. I almost screamed in the clinic, but I held it in because I wanted the first real reaction to come from Jace. He'll pull me into his arms and finally give a smile that reached his eyes for the first time.

He chewed hastily on the drugs and slowly he fell into a deep sleep. ••• Amelia closed for the day and just when she was about to board a taxi, her phone rang and she quickly brought it out of her bag. Upon seeing the caller ID, Amelia's heart immediately skipped a beat but she soon got back to herself and picked up. “Hello Doctor Sandra, about the...” Before she could continue, the doctor's tiny voice could be heard at the other end of the call. “Amelia you are already eight weeks pregnant, you should abort the baby before it gets too risky for you too.”

I said and she smiled pulling in to a tight hug, now I was so sure that I had a family that loves me more than anything. The silence made Maggie feel like her heart was in her throat, she turned to Brenda who leaned forward and held her sweaty palm in hers. Maggie's gaze turned back to Mrs Jones who walked out of Amelia's room. They both stood up ready to fire questions at the doctor but stopped when a bed was rolled out of the ICU with Amelia on it, Maggie panicked a sob escaping her lips. "She's gone " Brenda asked trying to calm Maggie who was had grown weak immediately. "No" was all Mrs. Jones whispered and they both turned there attention to her not sure what she meant.

With a sharp breath, she swiped to answer, then pressed the phone to her ear. The voice came instantly, sharp, clear, and feminine. “Babe,” it began breathlessly, “I’m so sorry for calling this morning but I can’t wait. I’m pregnant with our baby.” The words landed like a bomb. Amelia’s left hand flew to her face, her palm slapping against her cheek as though the sting would wake her from this nightmare.

I felt like I was going to be sick. How could this be happening? How could this be real? Amelia started to laugh, a harsh, mocking sound that grated on my nerves. I couldn't take it anymore. I turned and ran, away from the cell, away from her, away from everything.
