“She was not the same girl either. She barely looked at anyone. The light that had always been in her eyes… it was gone.” Amelia leaned forward. “What happened to her?” I looked at the floor. “She was pregnant.” Amelia’s hand flew to her mouth. “What?” “I did not understand. I demanded answers. I thought perhaps she had fallen in love with someone. I even thought that maybe marrying me had been my father’s ridiculous attempt to hide her from embarrassment.” I looked at Amelia. “I wish that had been the truth." Amelia frowns. Amelia's POV The facial expression of the doctor was convincing enough. "You might be pregnant, Amelia!! You might be pregnant!" she said, standing up from her seat and walking towards me. At first, she tried her best not to tell me where she was heading, she kept making up excuses which I already know since I can sense people’s lies.
