A Dark Curse
He lets his hand fall between us, pressing the back of his knuckles against my thigh.
I give a slight nod, turning to look out the window. The view is breathtaking, so different from the more urbanized Atlanta suburbs where we’d grown up. I stare wide-eyed as we pass farmland, turning onto small, two-lane roads that wind through the forest. Everything here seems so alien to me. So different. Which, I know it makes me sound like some privileged, rich, city kid, but that’s exactly what I am.
And now I’m about to spend the rest of my probably short life out here in the middle of nowhere Idaho.
