I’m quickly learning that love is messy and complicated. I stepped out of the bathroom and listened intently to see if I detected any sounds in the house. The only thing I could hear was the deafening roar of silence and the beating of my heart in my ears. I softly and slowly stepped back down the hall, careful to not make any noise. As I entered the kitchen, I could hear Vanessa still talking outside. I exhaled the air I had been holding in as I crept slowly toward the back door so I could hear better.

' Without a word, the Naiad smiled in response, the sight of those tiny, sharp teeth sending goose-bumps over my skin. Stepping closer, she raised her arms, palms downwards, thin fingers splayed, and she began to whisper words that I couldn't make out. Over and over again she chanted, the incessant whispering sounding like the whistle of wind through the trees or brushing against the windowpane. I felt it before I saw it, a vibration in the floor that juddered through me, and then, a light that appeared all around us, as if it was coming up through the monochrome tiles. When her whispering stopped, so did the vibration and what was left, was three circles of white light, all linked together

I pouted and clicked on [I Agree and Start Listening.] The so-called 'Echoes from Below' were nothing more than just some white noise, like the wind moving through an empty corridor or a massive creature slowly exhaling beneath the water. Rumble. The sound was low and heavy, with a faint electrical hiss like a bad microphone feed.

I say, pushing. Echo smiles, cold and sharp. “Yeah, well. I’ve got the voices, remember? They keep me company. I can make them sound like anyone I want. If I want a woman whispering sweet nothings in my ear, she’s there. If I want someone yelling at me, I’ve got that too. You just don’t see them.” I groan and rub my face, the weight of it all catching up again. But then his tone shifts to something harder and final.

The fact is that if I will be seen by such creature my demise would be imminent. It was rather odd that En was quite in this whole endeavor. He might be trying to contact the powerful being in order to help me or he’s just busy with trying to block the maddening whispers that were trying to invade my mind. I scratched my ears as the insistent buzzing due to the miasma made my ear itchy, like listening to an ASMR but instead of sweet nothings all you could hear were maddening screams of those who were taken and there urge to join them in there maddening cacophony.

​"Leo..." ​The surrounding noise of the night seemed to fade into absolute silence. The muffled, heavy thud of the club music behind the metal doors, the groans of the four men bleeding out on the wet pavement, the quiet drip of rain falling off the brick walls—it all died away. The entire world shrank down to just the two of them standing under the flickering yellow streetlight. ​They simply stared at each other for a full, agonizing minute. Neither of them moved. Neither of them dared to breathe.

Calla The whisper started three weeks ago. At first, I thought it was stress. The kind of auditory hallucination that comes from too many sleepless nights and too much responsibility. Just my mind playing tricks, creating phantom sounds where there was only silence. But whispers don't usually know your name. They don't usually know your fears. And they definitely don't usually offer you everything you've ever wanted. Calla. There it was again. Soft. Seductive. Like smoke curling through the gaps in my thoughts.

Again the sound of barking dogs reaches my ears only louder as if the barking was coming from right above me. “HEEEEEELLLPPPP” I yell out with as much force as my now sore lungs can muster. “HEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPP MMMEEE” i keep yelling with all i have praying that they find me and help me. Times passes and the barking has now stopped, the only thing I hear is silence, just as I had started to give up hope a small sound of what I think was steal hitting rocks echo’s around me then slowly I start to see sparks of light until it blinds me.

“Remind me again why we’re doing this?” Freya sighed. “Because we have no choice.” Bram grumbled but didn’t argue. The tunnel sloped downward, the walls narrowing around us. The deeper we went, the colder it became. I exhaled, and my breath came out in misty tendrils. Then the whispers started. Soft. Faint. Like voices carried on the wind. I stopped, heart hammering. “Did you hear that?” Sienna tensed. “Yes.” Freya paled. “It’s the echoes.”

"Liam, when are you coming back? I can't do this anymore," He whispered with a heavy sigh, then the doorbell rang, and he sluggishly got up to get the door, whoever it is had better have something good to say or he was about to give them a piece of his mind for disturbing him, he opened the door and his mouth flew open, shock yes, he was, he couldn't get a word out, he closed his eyes and opened them, then closed them again, he didn't want it to be his eyes deceiving him.
