I reeled my head forward as I asked.
Silence stretched between us as Hunter refused to answer my question. “I need the truth, Hunter. It doesn’t matter if it will hurt me; I am already in pain. I’ve been in pain for a week and a few days now; nothing else can hurt me more than I already am.” I lied, because everything still hurts, and I know the truth that was about to leave his lips would only hurt me more.
“Yes, we were, but none of that matters now anyway.” He finally answered, his voice rigid like a stone wall and his face void of any emotion.
