His voice trails off, and he suddenly squeezes his eyes shut, his face contorted with agony. He presses his hands to his ears, and I gasp when I see that his nose is bleeding. "Rhydar? What's wrong?" I ask, reaching for him, bewildered. When he doesn't respond, I reach into his mind, and that's when a loud static noise fills my head. I pull away instantly, my chest heaving. Finally, Rhydar lowers his hands from his ears. My eyes go wide when I see that his ears are bleeding too.

Blood swept down onto Claire’s hand as she studied his. “It’s gonna need to stay open. We’ll wrap it and I have some powder we can use to stop the bleeding but it will need to heal on its own.” Claire said, giving him his hand back. She then stood leaning over him as she studied his shoulder. She frowned deeply seeing all her work gone and needing to be redone. She then stood and looked at his ear. She touched it slightly and he winced. The cut was long but wouldn't cause any damage to his actual ear.

I asked. Xavier did not answer. I took the opportunity and tried to break free. Xavier let go, letting my head thunk down on the sink. I was in so much pain that my vision blurred. I felt a warm trickle from my nose. Panicked, Xavier said with what seemed like concern, "Why is your nose bleeding?" I grabbed a piece of napkin and said lowly, "Don't concern yourself with it. It's just bleeding because of the dry weather. Xavier was just about to say something when his phone rang.

The sudden ear piercing sound flinched me to which I instantly jumped back covering my ears not knowing what just happened. As I slightly lifted my head up, I saw nothing, but him seethe in anger as he had his clenching fist banged on his glass table smashing the surface glass into a number of pieces around him... He stood up from the chair pushing it back whilst he was giving his best look of death at me. A deep pang of worry which had hidden somewhere inside my broken heart crept into me when the stream of blood started running down the knuckles of his right arm. My eyes went wide in disbelief.... I could not resist myself from jerking my body front seeing him bleeding....

With it still trickling, I put a simple bandage over it. I look down at my shirt. It’s soaked in crimson. I changed and rushed out of the apartment while holding a napkin to my ear. I hurriedly walk the two blocks to the clinic without waiting for the bus. I check in, and the nurse hands me gauze and some meds to help staunch the bleeding. But it takes forever to be seen, and entering the exam room, there waits the same doctor, whose name I can’t remember. “How did you do this?” the doctor asks, looking over my ear.

I wiped them with my thumb and there was blood. Here we go again. I got on my feet and went to the mirror. My nose was already bleeding. After a few seconds I heard the old warm trickle on my left side. It did not surprise me any longer; it just made me weary. I took a clean towel and pressed it against my nose and ear cleaning up the blood on my chin. The bleeding was more to-night, perhaps because I had not taken the pills. I sat down on the floor in the bathroom waiting until it subsided. It did come back, later on, I was aware it would. It always did.

I stood until my legs ached and the chill of the air seeped into my bones. If my mom had sacrificed everything for me, then whatever she had left behind mattered. They were clues to what I needed to know. We drove home quietly. My nose started bleeding as we approached the house. Warm. Sudden. I pressed my fingers to it, watching red stain my skin. Elena pulled out some tissues. My head spinned and throbbed with pain. Why does this keep happening? Pablo pulled out his phone to call the doctor. I held his hands. “Don't bother.”

KIRA'S POV The bleeding… it just wouldn’t stop. I stared at my leg again as fresh red seeped directly through the bandage I had wrapped only seconds earlier. It was impossible—absolutely impossible—that a simple cut from a broken piece of glass could behave like this.
