He asks looking at me intently. “Superheroes are mad up but yeah whatever.” I say and he smiles a little. “I don’t know if they’re made up.” He says and I look at him amused. “Knox, they’re fiction.” I and he shrugs his shoulders like he doesn’t agree. “I think I would be Superman.” He says and I look at him shocked. “Really?” I can’t believe his answer. Out of all the superheroes in the world “Yes!” He says offended. “Not even Iron man? Or …”

CHAPTER 17 ZYLIAH'S POV "Babies, come here." I beckoned to my sons, who were staring at this tall, well-built frame of a man the same way they usually stared at their individual favorite superhero figures-Captain America and Batman. Captain America for Waylen, Batman for Casper. The intrigue and admiration in their eyes was as surprising as it was terrifying. No, it couldn't be. "Waylen. Casper." I repeated, not taking my eyes off this guy with an imposing and impressively intimidating aura.

Why would Deus choose to host a world-shattering showdown close to a river famed for its unyielding tides and torrents? "Maybe it's because any fight started by someone of his caliber would cause cataclysmic collateral damage?" one of the martial artists next to her suggested. "Is… Is this old man really that strong?" Sophie gasped, jaw wide open. The girls thought the man had to be exaggerating. This was a fight between men—not a superhero and a supervillain. Surely their fight could not destroy a city, right? Or what, a planet? Sophie turned back to the old man with newfound disdain in her eyes. If there was ever a prime example of a "psychic tryhard," she thought this man was it.

That weird man kept looking at us as we walked away. "Mom that man is looking like Aquaman..." Skyler giggled. "You shouldn't make fun of someone like this Skyler. It's bad..." I said. "But mom, Aquaman is handsome and powerful. He is god of ocean. It's a compliment. I am not making fun of him..." He defended himself. "You should stop watching marvels..." I said shaking my head. "It's DC..." He replied sassily and we both laughed.

He said, "You are my hero, daddy. You are better than batman and superman! Thank you for saving Mommy. I love you, daddy." At first, Evan chuckled at being compared to a DC Comic hero, but he soon embraced Lucas, kissing him on the forehead. He replied, "I love you too, Lucas, and I love your mommy. I will do anything for her, but I don't know about being better than batman and superman."

I said before he could turn back. He walked closer and halted in front of me. “What makes you think I'll help you? Sort yourself, you brought this upon yourself, didn't you?” He spat. “You might become a great man if you help, and I'll also redeem my reputation with this. Chaos is about to break out and America will be doomed if no one stops this,” I responded. "Why don't you stop this alone, Superman?”. "I wouldn't be here if I could. Everyone is after me and I need a strong backup like you. Besides, I want to make it legal this time so I need your help.”.

He mumbled. Kael smiled, actually smiled, for the first time that night. “yeah, I know. So if you don’t like Batman, who’s your favorite?” he asked. “Superman,” Nolan replied with no hesitation. Kael made a face. “Superman? Really? He’s too perfect. He can do everything. I don’t believe that someone should be that perfect.” He said with a scowl on his face. Nolan arched a brow and flicked his gaze briefly at her. She got the idea that he was judging Kael’s words. No child should be able to think like that except they’ve gone through some shit. If he wanted to say anything to her, he didn’t.
