I can see the faint outline of what looks like wings spread behind her. Wings of fire that seem to take the shape of a heart… A piercing scream rips through the air as her power increases tenfold and surges into the sky, emanating in waves around her. “Tell me what it is. Tell me why it looks at you like that.” Her lips parted, tears brimming, but before she could answer, the fire-born lunged. His flaming spear streaked across the battlefield like a comet, slamming into the beast’s shoulder. The explosion of fire and shadow split the night, a blast wave knocking us all backward. I shielded Zara with my body, gritting my teeth as heat scorched my skin. The beast roared again, furious, its claw swiping at the fire-born with a force that shattered the burning trees. The fire-born’s wings snapped open, catching the air, flames whirling around him like a storm.

I breathe my fire ahead of me, ready to take out every one of these elves. “Bring her down!” an elf says and I recognize thaevoice. King Eldarion. “Daichi! The harpoon is earthen made! See if you can destroy it!” I yell, blowing my fire over the ground. As I fly over the elves, I hear another ‘thunk’. I scream, twisting quickly and feeling the air of the harpoon as it scrapes the tip of my wing. I blow my fire on it before slicing my fire through the air and back down to the ground. I continue blowing my fire, but there are a LOT of elves and they are working together using their earth elements to protect each other.
