Mane had just employed one of those many moves: Exploding Wings. Mane’s mumble was the trigger for the huge fiery wings that grew on his back. The wings were several dozens of meters long and several meters wide. When they appeared on Mane’s back they rose high into the sky, and flapped rapidly. Yet their beating didn’t lift Mane up or take him into the sky. With the beating of those wings, the cry of a Phoenix filled the ears of all who were here, and several large flames descended upon the retreating goblins, burning them all to a crisp. The fire was stronger, completely eliminating the goblins in less than a second.

Other supernatural beings were another story. I took a moment to soak in one last look at him before walking to the window. He was a sexy man for sure, I could definitely see myself coming back for another night of toe-curling sex. I pushed the window out and jumped, releasing my wings to fly home to the palace. My kingdom and palace weren't far, I had come to a human city on the border for a night of fun, but it was much faster to fly home. With one movement it used them to blow the flames towards the warriors that were standing too close. Flames engulfed them in minutes and then they were gone. With another great batting the wings stopped the flames altogether and the thing was all that remained. Elaina watched in horror as it began to move forward taking in the scene around it. A laugh rumbled from it making the hairs on the back of Elaina’s neck stand up.

The spirit beasts are trembling which made the humans confused. A huge shadow towered over the ground. In the sky, a Gigantic Firebird had its enormous fire wings spread. The Gigantic Firebird cried and caught the attention of the humans below. The cries of the Gigantic Firebird made them hold their ears because of its piercing sound. Meanwhile, the spirit beasts' trembled and most of them fainted when they were the Gigantic Firebird.

"What?!" Charon stepped back. "Impossible!" From the fire, I rose. Not whole. Not healed. But burning with something they couldn’t name. "You called me weak," I said, voice shaking the underworld. My eyes blazed. My hands flared with silver fire. "You called me human." Wings spread from my back—half raven, half flame. "You spat on my corpse." Chains formed in the air—made of spirit light. I shattered them with one word.

Believed she might destroy Aiden, Rowan—everyone. But then—Aiden’s hand squeezed hers, grounding her in the storm. His voice was steady, certain, unshakable. “No,” he said firmly. “You are not the fire, Evelynn. The fire is you.” And with those words, everything shifted. The flames within her no longer felt like chains. They felt like wings. Evelynn raised her hands, and the fire answered. Not in wild, reckless bursts—but in a controlled blaze that lit the storm-torn night like dawn breaking. The creatures hesitated, shadows quivering. Even Cassian faltered, his expression twisting for the first time into doubt.

His eyes were made of fire and he flapped his wings. Now, the humans figured that it was no longer a game. Some fainted and some tried to run for their lives. But Vampires we're creatures of the shadows. They moved as swiftly as the night moved. No one escaped.

"My kind can feel our wings. They feel pain, same as any other body part, so if you ever want to ground an angel you aim for these. It's the same idea as aiming for the horse instead of the rider." Lucifer took out a dagger and made a cut on the wings. "These are far more durable than an average bird's wings, but they aren't indestructible. I would make the old argument that if it bleeds you can kill it, but that's wishful thinking in some cases." Lucifer returned his wings and held the dagger out to Elijah. Elijah grabbed it and Lucifer continued. "A general rule I like to apply with humans vs gods is that if you can't kill, you cripple. Eyes, legs, testicles if they have them."
