"Sawyer's sick. Late-stage stomach cancer. He wants to see me one last time." Everett was quiet for a moment. "Are you going?" "I don't know." I leaned back and closed my eyes. The past surfaced on its own. I couldn't deny it. My youth was filled with Sawyer. But he was also the one who shattered every expectation I had. "If you don't want to go, then don't." Everett's voice was calm but firm. "You don't owe anyone that. What matters is how you feel." I opened my eyes and looked at him.

She typed back: Who is this? No reply. She called the number. Disconnected. She sat in the dark, the words burning in her mind. The kiss. She wanted to throw up. She wanted to scream. She wanted to not believe it. But she did. She believed it.

It was Julissa again! His eyes were fixed on Julissa! He spent so much money buying that handbag—he was definitely going to give it to that woman. Does he just want to spoil her? What’s so special about her? Heather felt a sharp headache, and her breathing became labored. She just wanted to scream out loud. But the string in her mind remained taut, and she told herself to stay in control. If she caused a scene, Scott would dislike her even more. I hissed. "So what? You're just going to let him have the company? You already gave him info on Nash Corps. And last time I checked, he's literally engaged to a fucking heiress. Why does he need the fucking company?" Hatty muttered. No, she screamed, with bitterness in her voice.

“Impossible? I saw it with my own fucking eyes, Heather. She had hickeys all over her neck. The scent of a male wolf is strong all over her.” Heather’s body visibly deflates, as though the news strikes her so hard that her muscles are also giving up. “But I don’t understand… She was so excited to be the Queen. That sick bastard! I wish I could wake him up and kill him all over and over again until I get exhausted. He is the devil himself and I can’t blame Heather for hating him so much. She was the first to snap out of her reverie and she urged everyone to focus on why we are here. She turned around, searching for another clue, and we were lucky he used the same pattern from earlier, but this time he used my name and the emojis he put next to the letters as he spelled my name was so terrifying and threatening.

The voice of a young girl pulls me from my shock, and I realize that I wasn’t even breathing. “Did you see the Uber driver?” I ask, trying to find out if I’m hallucinating. “Yes, why?” Thank God. “Did you hear what he said?” I wait for her answer without even blinking. hoping that she did hear him. “Something about your biggest wish being to get out of here...” She trails off while looking at me as if she doesn’t get the point. “It means that I’m not crazy,” I exclaim, relieved and filled with a warmth that I never felt before, and even if the girl looks at me as if I am crazy, I don’t care.

She began to read the instructions written in a book about witchcraft spells, which were written in ancient text.
