Sera's pov My vision starts turning hazy as the figure continues to devour my blood. A stream of red liquid trails down my neck to wet my shirt. Clenching the metal clanks holding my wrist,I continue to scream. As with each second the pain in my body only intensifies. " Ahhhhhh nooooooo...nooooooooo!" No one came to help. And how will they? She wanted to stand up and prepare for another hit but her vision grew blurry. 'Kill them all. Burn them all. Feast them all! The beast does not accept defeat only a roar of victory it can consume.' The flames of the fallen lantern get extinguished when it comes in contact with spread milk, and the area around the princess turns dark. Tears leaked from her eyes as an immense pain erupts in her chest. The Devil’s Redemption in her hands was quickly soaking the blood oozing from her fingers. But it wasn’t the pain or blood that became the reason for her distress. It was the wallow of her father’s horse, which rang in front of the gateways of the fort, in the dark of a rainy night. Have they arrived before time, or was it too late?

--- The elderly woman laughed suddenly. A desperate laugh. A broken laugh. "You fools." Blood dripped from her lips. "You have no idea what you've awakened." Nobody responded. The witch continued laughing. "The prophecy isn't salvation." Her eyes locked onto Elara. "It's a warning." The courtyard became silent again. A chill swept through those present. Even Lucien frowned. The witch smiled. Then whispered: "The Devourer is coming." Before anyone could react, Her body burst into silver flames. The fire consumed her instantly.

The Devourer had taken it in payment. But none of that mattered. Because Elise would fall. "The Devourer obeys no master," the darkblood seer warned again, standing now. Her voice was filled with fear "Even the gods could not hold it. It consumed its summoner before. It will do the same to you." “I am not them,” I said simply. “I don’t need to live forever. I only need long enough.” The chamber fell quiet except for the sound of the devourer behind me. Its head—if it had one—lowered toward me in a slow, chilling motion.

I believe people can read this as a novel but in reality the author just wants to expose their readers to the monsters they see in other worlds. The title 'Desire for thirst' was inspired from my personal experience of writing this series. The main character in Desire for thirst is the werewolf which murdered my mom. For every novel, I make some particular things to specify from each book like the manner of killing. Likewise, the manner I used in Desire for thirst is man in Balck clothing slashing his victims throat after cutting out their tongue. i got shocked after seeing the similar manner of killing in the news.
