I gave a sigh of wailing but it went unnoticed. The morning sun hit my face and my eyes got overpowered by light as soon as I opened them. I looked at my left and saw Alim sleeping on his stomach. “Don’t hide your face from me, Bud.” The moment I finally looked up and saw his face properly, I froze. “Your face.” A dark bruise had formed along his cheekbone. His lower lip was split and there were scratches around his jaw that definitely hadn’t been there this morning. If it wasn’t for the fast healing of werewolves, I might have had a scar by now. Her disgusting claws would have ruined my perfect face. If that fool thought that she could disgrace me and get away with it, she was totally wrong. Without thinking twice, I grabbed my makeup brush and applied another layer of powder carefully on my face to make sure the scratch was totally invisible.

Serena's POV: As usual, I woke up at four o'clock in the morning, before everyone was awake and before the clock had even rung. I lazily got off the bed and stood looking at my haggard face in the mirror for a while, but I couldn't help but sigh. Thanks to the faint light from the candle, I fumbled for the ointment and applied it to the wound. With a sniff, I turned on the faucet. Careful of the stitches, I washed my face. I would not be a victim. I changed and returned to the bathroom. This time armed with my makeup and hairbrush. First, I started on my hair. It was dirty since I couldn’t wash it, so I brushed it out and braided it. Next, I worked on covering up the bruise and dark circles, but didn’t stop there and went for the whole package. With my mood improved, I ventured out in the search of food.
