He takes a pack of cigarettes from out of his jacket inner pocket and smoothly places one in his mouth. As he lights it and takes a deep breath out, I feel a low rumbling growl form in my chest. “I don’t like you smoking.” I never liked him smoking, it did well for his bad boy image but I knew of the health implications. His seductive glare is an art form, one that already causes slight throbbing down below. He takes another drag on the cigarette but this time blows the smoke to the side, away from my face. “I’m a werewolf sweetheart, I think my lungs are safe.” He smirks as he takes a single step towards me, the still lit cigarette now secured between two fingers and placed down to his side

The pack is returning, Running River is dissolving, and the Lunarae gives us the perfect opportunity. I stop mid-step, turning to Bram and the others, my eyes bright with determination. “Here’s what we do,” I say, my voice low but commanding. “Someone gathers a whole supply of wolfsbane. I’m talking enough to fill an entire room with smoke. Another person will set it on fire, but carefully, so the smoke spreads like a thick gas through their celebration hall. It won’t kill anyone, but it’ll knock everyone out.”

Only my breathing and the tick of cooling stone stayed. My wolf stood poised to hit again, hackles up, ears forward, waiting for a second attack that didn’t come. Every part of me wanted to go after that smoke, but there was nothing to catch. The scent it left was wrong. Not rot. Not carrion. Old ward ash and metal, the after of a burnt sigil.

I covered my nose to prevent it from entering my nose, but it still found it's way and choked me terribly. “Protect the Alpha!” “Seal the exits!” The guards were screaming at different angles, but none of them could move or see due to the smoke. The smoke got thicker each passing seconds. My eyes blurred and I couldn't see anything. The smoke smelled strangely sweet. So much entered my nose and my head began to spin. This isn't an ordinary smoke. It's a wolfsbane mixed with something stronger! I realised too late because the room tilted violently and I couldn't move talk more of escaping.

It was all Killian's father's order, though he made sure to get them destroyed and banned before his death. Wolfsbane was caged in a can full of smoke.. Smell alone knocks wolves off their feet, enough of it and they cough blood, can’t shift, can’t fight. I rolled the can in my palm, then I stepped forward and let it fly straight into the middle of the group. For a beat they just stared at it, like it was some dropped toy. One of the guards bent, frowning. “What’s that?” he called. The answer came fast, a hiss, then a puff. Black smoke spilled out and hit the air like a wave.

It exploded in a cloud of purple smoke and immediately wolves started choking and collapsing. Wolfsbane gas. Kade shifted faster than she could follow, his clothes tearing as he became a massive black wolf. He attacked the nearest hunter and tore his throat out but there were too many of them, too much smoke, too much chaos. Sage pressed herself against the wall and tried to stay hidden, tried to breathe through the smoke that burned her lungs. Through the haze she saw Marcus near the back of the warehouse just standing there while his packmates fought and died around him.

Then she takes the battery out of the smoke alarm and starts again. The words she uses are simple. She asks the Mother to show us her wisdom and reveal ‘that which is beyond Human ken’. The smoke from her bowl, which had been drifting upwards, turns to curl around Tom instead. It shades from pale grey into colours. It’s mostly dark red and bright yellow from what I can see, but there’s a shade beyond purple too, one I’m not sure anyone else can see. Werewolves can see a bit beyond human vision, into ultra-violet.

His muzzle wrinkled. When burned, wolfsbane emits smoke that stays in the air for three hours. Now, even if he merely smelled the remnants, the wolfsbane still managed to cloud his senses, though it didn't affect Felix's abilities. Felix sniffed the air, able to find a sweet floral scent amongst the dense mixture of blood, burnt flesh, and smoke.

Unfortunately, his wolves were the last pack that would go pay tribute, so they saw and heard everything. First came the smoke, hissing through the court, the gas that hid itself in the smoke started knocking out the younger wolves and lower ranks. It was just enough time for the Rogues to get in close, grab Tristan, and blinked out without a trace of their auras. A flash of silver out of the corner of his eye drew his eyes up to see a slight shimmer in the air before they all disappeared into it, a sword sticking out of his Luna after she jumped in front of an advancing warrior from the crowd.
