It leaped from the crest of the hill, vaulting over Evelyn’s head and landing with a bone-crushing impact directly between her and her pursuers. The mercenary didn't even have time to raise his weapon. With a single, lightning-fast sweep of its massive paw, the obsidian wolf sent the man flying through the air. He hit a boulder fifty feet away with a sickening thud and didn't move again. Henderson fell to his knees in the mud, his gun slipping from his fingers as he looked up into the burning, volatile amber eyes of the Alpha. The wolf loomed over him, its jaws dripping with crimson foam, a low, guttural vibration rattling its chest that was so powerful it made Henderson’s ears bleed.

“Call them off. Order them to stand down, and your wolves will be spared. Fight, and you die.” He looked up at her, hatred burning in his eyes, but beneath it, something else. Respect. Fear. Understanding. “You are more dangerous than they said.” “I am more dangerous than anyone knows.” He raised his voice, ordering his wolves to lay down their arms. The sound of clattering steel filled the clearing, a cascade of surrender that echoed through the forest. Aria’s wolves moved through the prisoners, binding wrists, tending wounds, doing the work of victors who had learned that mercy was not weakness.

My wolf growls low. “They didn’t touch the kids,” she says. I stop again. “What,” I whisper. She pushes the thought harder, sharper. “Look where the blood is. Look where it isn’t.” I turn slowly, scanning the path, the buildings, the doorways. Adults. Fighters. Healers. Supply runners. No small bodies. No small shoes left where they fell. The lone wolf who could talk, spoke up in a shaky voice. The other wolves tried running away but they got stuck to the ground. There was no escape for them. "Pl.....please have mercy." The one who could talk pleaded but Alex was one of no mercy. Mercy is a word that is never found in his dictionary. He took a step forward and that caused the falling leaves to lift up due to the wind that moved with him as he walked. He got to the one who could talk and before the loner could speak, Alex dug his claws into his chest and pulled his hand out with his heart. The wolf fell lifeless to the ground. He did that to the other four, which each of them hearts being pulled out.

Mercia, Mercy’s wolf was jumping for joy urging Mercy to go to their mate, she was glued on the spot and could not even hear what alpha Damien and alpha John were talking about as she was focused on Collin. He was not well dressed for the occasion compared to the people around but to Mercy he was the most well dressed and good-looking guy she is ever seen. ‘Let us go to mate please Mercy’ said Mercia excitedly ‘Did you not see that he didn’t react to us.’ Said Mercy ‘His mate he loves us, and he will acknowledge us, just let go of Damien.’ Mercy tried moving away from Damien as Mercia her wolf suggested but Damien tightened his hold on her waist.

Showing mercy only means that you are weak and not in control, you do everything with strategy and strength, not mercy. “Mercy.” I chuckled and stared at them, one after the other. These wolves committed treason against the pack, putting every wolf in danger by giving secrets out to the other rival packs, not once, not twice, but countless times. I stepped back, watching them closely to see if they were gonna change and come clean to me, but they proved me wrong by opening the borders for those rogues. I stared at them the last time, they were by far my best soldiers, and they decided to bite the hand that fed them.

Lucas started dragging her back towards the van. She struggled and screamed, but he was too strong. He threw her in the back and slammed the door. Clara sat up and tried to open it back up, but it was locked. They started moving and Clara continued her pounding and screaming on the back window. Two wolves appeared from the forest and Clara's heart broke. It was David and James; they were too late.
