The morning of our thirteenth year in Portugal begins with fog and oak at my feet. I scoffed. “If a sheep steps out of place, the shepherd corrects it with a rod,” Blue said, drawing a step towards the men. From the way he flexed his muscles, I could tell he was getting ready for a confrontation. “But when mad dogs step out, it's left for the owner to —” “Shut up! You are not our owners! We want nothing to do with bast —” He didn't get to complete the hated word when Blue zapped towards him and ripped his tongue out of his mouth, returning to my side with the organ as we watched him gurgle his blood, choking on it as he fell to the ground.

Blue was proud of me, and that was enough right now. "Thank you, Blue." I was grateful for everything he had done for me. Blue only had Leo as his one pup before his mate was killed in a rogue attack years ago. Everyone knew he had a soft spot for pups, considering how much he wanted Leo to grow up with siblings. I was lucky to have been raised for the past seven years by him.

Mya looked at the wolf and asked, "Is she sick, Strider?" Strider nodded. "Blue's really old and was severely injured. She won’t last much longer." "Blue? Is that her name?" Strider nodded once more. "Why are you helping her? It’s no wonder the villagers think you're the child of a wolf when you hang around them so often." "It's not like that," Strider refuted. "It's not?" It was clear that there was a story between Strider and the wolf. It took him a while before he said, "Blue saved my life once. I would've been long dead if not for her. She's like a mother to me."

Tom, Peach, Mondo, Niko, and Blaze are large and robust dogs of Jayden Lin. They are trained guardian dogs capable of crushing the bones of an adult human. Jayden trained his dogs specifically to be hunters and used them to catch and kill a few times. Moreover, Blaze was not a recommended pet for most people because of its aggressiveness towards humans. There is a name imprinted on the plate saying B.L.U.E. I wrapped my arms with this big bud and played with him —tickling his neck which I love to do. I stayed there playing with him for a little while.
