“Are you serious about it? Do you really want the award?
“Arian, I want the award. Is that too much to ask?”
“You're not even a member,” I said as calmly as I could.
“So?” He shrugged like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “You are the president, you can bend the rules. You said I could ask for anything and that’s what I want.”
My jaw tightened. “It doesn’t work like that.”
“Why not?” His tone sharpened.
“Because… because there are rules,” I said, standing straight. “The awards are for members who show up, who contribute, who actually read the books, Kael. I can’t just hand it over to you like it’s some pen.”
