Writing Awards Novels & Stories

Tonight, everyone wanted to be seen listening. I sat still at my table, posture composed, hands folded lightly in my lap. Around me, people leaned forward, anticipation tightening their expressions. Awards meant validation. Recognition. Proof of relevance. The first category was called. A senior executive walked to the stage amid applause, smiling broadly as a plaque was handed over. Cameras flashed. A rehearsed thank-you followed. Mentors were named. Teams praised. The audience clapped at the right moments. The second award came quickly after. Another name. Another smile. Another carefully measured speech.

Each mentioned award is for the person who received the highest mark among the class in that subject. Aside from the academic achievers are special awards like an award for complete school year attendance, good conduct, and most diligence. Via was one of the five academic achievers in their class. The class total up to twenty people. She did not receive any other awards, only academic excellence. The principal walked back to the podium, holding a bigger envelope this time. "Now we move on to the next part," she said cheerfully, "Special recognition awards and gifts, which have been provided by our wonderful sponsors and PTA community. These gifts are not just for academics but for personality, growth, and presence." The parents clapped again. I joined in, my eyes darting between my three little ones. They looked so excited, sitting there on that stage with tiny medals around their necks. "For creativity and class leadership..." the principal called out names.

" he ended his speech and the auditorium echoed again with applause while I push back my tears. I don't know why but I saw some pain in his eyes. My lips wobbled and I palmed my mouth to kill my sob. What's wrong with my emotional stage? I linked his words because he loves Ira yet is not together with her. There is something! After that, the award distribution started. My hips started to hurt from sitting so long. Mr. Wright was honoring students by either giving them certificates or trophies. The award ceremony was for sports, research, curricular activities, and other competitions. The dance competition winner announcement was the last. My heart was wiggling in excitement as well as fear.

The Scott-Hart Foundation eventually received this award, which is granted to institutions that have improved artistic innovation and social effect after years of tenacious efforts. A dining area decorated with luxurious turquoise satin shining in the chandeliers' gold light in the center of the award hall. The host read out the names of all the nominees and my name was the fifth on the list out of seven writers. "You've got this," Grayson whispered in my ear, holding my hand under the table. "And the writer of the year award goes to..." The host trailed, creating a lot of tension in the room. "Rhea Knight with the book Royal Deception." I remained in my seat still in shock at what happened. I covered my face with my hand as began to tear up. Grayson helped me stand up when the spotlight landed and led me to the stage. He stood at the bottom while I climbed up to receive the award. I gave a short speech, thanking everyone for deeming me worthy of the award and also to my family for supporting m

Gold awards were presented annually to individual members who were voted by members of the association for their exemplary contributions to the society and association. “This…” Lesley also pursed her lips and looked over to Amber, who was seated a few tables away. Thinking about the promised ticket, she decided to bite the bullet “I don’t think Ms Williams will win; she shouldn’t mind the change in seats and if she did” she spoke in a belittling tone “I would be worried about her intentions… wouldn’t you?” “Umm....” Sarah pretended to acquiesce ‘her intentions, my foot!’ Sarah thought but she also wanted to see how Ben would respond.

Despite the unpromising name, the business awards in the first week of June is always a promising night out. I’ve attended for the last three years, either as a guest or a client, or on my company’s table. I will be the first to admit that it doesn’t sound exciting. Okay so the award ceremony itself is a little lacklustre, but by the time the ‘networking opportunities’ begin, people are so drunk that they struggle to stand up straight, never mind try to win their next big contract. It’s usually rather entertaining.

"It's true. Also, there are not only prizes for the top three but a commemorative award just by participating." "Woah, awesome!" Everyone knew that when it came to rewards and prizes, the Royal Creek Institute was extraordinary! Even their scholarships were far greater than most schools! So even a commemorative award would be some expensive luxury item! How could they miss out on that?
