"My bad, man. I didn't know she was... yours." ​He didn't wait for a reply. He vanished back into the crowd, leaving me leaning precariously against the wall. Xavier stepped toward me, his presence suffocating. He didn't offer a hand. He didn't ask if I was okay. Instead, he looked down at me with pure, unadulterated disgust. ​"Were you that desperate to have sex with a total stranger?" he hissed, his voice cutting through my drunken fog like a blade. "Is this what the 'Princess' does the second she gets a taste of freedom? You’re pathetic."

I turned to the doctor to tell him I was the Alpha's mate when suddenly, Val stopped me. “Are you sure about this?” She asked and I nodded. “Very sure..” I said and she nodded. “Alright then.” She turned to the doctor as well. Again, just as I tried to inform him of me being the Alpha's mate, Renee suddenly stopped us. “How sure are you all that Teacher Xena is Ryder's mate, I mean it could be false.” Everyone turned to give her a disgusted look as she strutted. I saw tears begin to pool in her eyes as she watched us.

Theo angrily said to Xavier, “Bullshit! Instead of taking care of your Luna and family, you used your war exploits to please your mistress! Xavier Blackwood! Your heart is cruel and unfaithful!” Xavier stood there pale, not saying a word in reply as Theo stepped forward, speaking up on my behalf. “I did what I had to do. Did you expect me to reject my mate?” “Fucking yes! Katrina was your Luna and wife. If you loved or even respected her, you should have consulted with her first,” Theo growled, his lips twitching as Xavier scoffed. “But I didn’t love her!” Xavier growled. I took a step back away from them, my heart racing as I earned a few pitiful looks from the men in the tent.

She doesn’t deserve any mercy. “if you commit to something like this then we can truly go feral” Xander says as he pushes through my barrier. The thought gives me pause but in the end I decide that it will be worth it. I need to make sure that she will harm the mate of no one else ever again. I squeeze my hand tighter on her neck as I watch her eyes bulge with satisfaction.

Xena’s eyes were bloodshot. Her hand braced against the doorframe. Her knuckles turned white, and her nails dug into the wood. Her throat was dry from thirst, and her voice sounded frighteningly hoarse. Even so, it was sharp and firm. “Do you know what you’re saying? You’d better tell the truth!” Zayden and Yannick were frightened by the look on her face. They quickly hid behind Moon. “Enough!” Julian stood up abruptly. He seized Xena’s wrist and dragged her inside. His grip was so strong that it felt as if her bones might break.

Xandra grew smug and said mockingly, "The pup in my belly is Simon's, while your pup is just a bastard conceived from your fooling around." My heart broke into pieces painfully. Good, let fear gnaw away at her bones. Her suffering would be exquisite for what she had done to Halle and their child.

“So, why aren’t we heading into the city?” Nia rises to her full height, her hands are on her hips, she gives Kiara an incredulous look. “He is an Emperor, one that has just come back from a victorious campaign, conquering more than three kingdoms. He will not ride into his own city at the dead of night like a thief. He will ride into his city with the rising sun to be welcomed by his people like the ruler he is. And then there’s you. The people have to meet their Conqueror’s wife, after all” Kiara looks down at the ground. Was she to be known as the Conqueror’s wife from now on? She doesn’t say anything but watches Nia prepare the tent she realizes is hers, with the help of soldiers.

"Take care of your damn son, Mr. Conor. We have a problem we need to solve.” Lexie really wanted to say something to Justin’s dad who looked so messed up. At least she wanted to clear up all these misunderstandings before things got worse. Mr. Conor looked disappointed with the unilateral decision handed down by Xena right in front of his shocked face. But before he even had time to say something, Xena had pulled her hand roughly past the people crowding around her table, and then she was violently thrown into Xena's car which was waiting for them outside the cafe.
