“She was advising me to leave Michael. But I have fallen for him and she was just insisting too much. It made me angry.” Glory held her comfortingly. “It’s okay, Mrs. Ray.” “I don’t’ want to be around that girl anymore.” “Whatever you want, Maam. If you must know, I’ve never really accepted her. She’s sort of weird.” Zee chuckled and Glory did the same. “I want to go home.” “Fine. We can go.” Glory said as they disengaged from the hug. Then he took her hand and led her out of the restaurant, leaving their spectators behind.

“And yet, here you are. Stronger than anyone. Fiercer than I could ever dream. I see what you’ve become and though it kills me to know the price you paid, I am proud of you. More than proud–I am humbled.” Alessa laughed harshly, a sound like broken glass. “Proud? Did I hear you say proud? I hope not. You don’t get to be proud.
