Why did this feel like a win when I had everything I wanted. Why this felt like home while I had a home away from here?

And just like that, everything felt right again. I was home.

It was our beginning. And I was finally home.

I whispered. “We will, I will make sure that you get through this.” It no longer felt like a stranger’s place in his arms, with him here, it was beginning to feel like home.

The word lingered in my mouth like a prayer. Home. I was going to be able to go home.

We didn’t try to win; we were just blowing off steam, and by the end, I did feel a bit better. We sat down on the mat afterwards, with me sweating a lot more than Argo and breathing heavily, but I still got a few punches and kicks in. "So hell of a first day back home," Argo joked. "It’s still morning," I replied, shaking my head at my brother. "It’s fucking weird, though. You feel it too, right? This doesn’t feel like home anymore. Not the way it used to." I nodded my head, "yeah, I feel it too."

I stopped and tilted my face up, letting it warm my skin. For the first time since all of this began, I didn’t feel like I was running, I was going home.

Of something that felt a lot like family. And for the first time in a long time… I felt whole.

It was a feeling I hadn't felt in a while. I wrapped my arms around my knees, embracing myself in my own warmth and that of the water around me. In the near future, this house was going to feel like home to me, and I wouldn't want to leave anymore, but at the time, I didn't know it yet
