"Get out," Nathaniel whispered, his voice so quiet it was almost buried by the orchestra, but it carried a weight that made her stiffen. "Nathaniel, the press is watching us right now," Vanessa hissed, her smiles remaining fixed for the cameras across the room. "If I walk out right now after just arriving, it will look like a public fight. Stand with me for ten minutes, let them take the picture, and the board will see that you have a real woman by your side, not a ghost who hates your world."
