REBORN TO BREAK YOU
I screamed.
I hit him low. I wasn’t trained, but I was fast because I’d spent twenty-two years trying to stay out of people’s way. I slammed my shoulder into his knee and felt something pop. He growled, a low, animal sound, and grabbed my hair. I bit his arm as hard as I could.
“Let her go!” I yelled through a mouthful of his jacket.
“Get this brat off me,” the big man barked.
Another warrior grabbed my waist and threw me. I hit the dirt hard. The wind knocked out of me, and for a second, the world was just spinning. I tried to crawl back up, but a heavy boot landed on the small of my back, pinning me to the ground.
