Even as a Vampire, he could feel Swift howling and growling inside him. It wasn’t any animal. It was human. He could guess it. His senses were getting clouded. He was getting high on the whiff. My eyes scan the room and find just about the last person I expect to see here: Tjeck. He slumps against the wall under the window, looking hardly conscious as he tries to stop the bleeding from his jaw.

The centrifugal force ripped it off balance, throwing its body backward…straight toward a massive boulder on the roadside. "DIE!!!" Jake roared, flooring the gas. The newly installed side spikes—razor-sharp, like shark fins—acted like a giant grinder, pinning the zombie against the rock with devastating force. CRUNCH!!! The sound was sickening—like a sledgehammer meeting a watermelon. Black blood erupted in a geyser, painting the boulder in streaks of gore. The agility-type zombie didn't even have time to scream. Caught between 10 tons of steel and solid rock, it was flattened into a paste.

Screams tore through the B2 level. Martha and I bolted for the stairs. Marcus stumbled behind. The smell of blood hit us like a wall. In the makeshift chapel, Sister Catherine was on her knees before the cross. A bloody hole gaped in her neck. A zombie was hunched over her, greedily tearing at her flesh. It had crawled in through an air vent. “Oh God…” Marcus retched. I grabbed a nearby iron chalice and slammed it into the zombie’s head.

Its lower jaw and lips had been completely ripped off, leaving its stark white upper gum line exposed, the gaps between the teeth caked with dried blood and shredded flesh. A blackened tongue hung limply from its mouth, then began to thrash wildly in excitement upon seeing the living. A thick, hoarse roar rumbled from its throat. Its cloudy, white, bloodshot eyes stared intently at us in the car. Its upper teeth scraped against the driver’s side window, making a grating SCREECH. Kevin Keane lowered the window and stabbed out with his knife. The zombie, which hadn’t yet had time to form a Crystal Core, toppled under the car.

Of course, I will die - a very painful, colourful and frankly, extremely creative death since my own brother will deliver the sentence. I can almost imagine how much Lenox would enjoy hanging me by my balls just to use my body as a bloody pinata. Or better yet, he would use the bunch of weird modified weapons he is hiding in the shed. Cold shivers run down my spine as I recall one of the chainsaws Lenox made. He snaps and barely misses me, but I have the advantage now that the stick is in my grasp. “Go to hell, you blood-sucking apocalypse bastard!” I scream as I plunge the dainty tree limb into the middle of his chest cavity. Mr. zombie deadweight slumps on top of me. I shove his limp body off, get to my feet, and then pull out the piece of wood stuck in his chest. This could be useful later.

“It smells good.” She laughed under her breath. “Werewolves,” she scolded him through her laughter. “Get to work.” She and Greg carried the accelerants and chains out onto the road. “I’ll climb,” he said. “Keep a look out for me.” “Be careful,” she did not argue.
