The hiss of escaping air and the zombie’s moans blended together, and the Santa dented, tilted, and deflated, his face morphing from a Christmas grin into a weird, distorted grimace. The zombie turned to face me, its half-rotted burial gown fluttering and its disintegrating jaws wide open, showing me a set of yellow teeth and a blackened lump of tongue. I swung the machete before it could get close enough to snap at me, sending its head tumbling off…right onto the deflating body of Santa Claus. Oh, fuck. If the zombies didn’t kill me, Nate would. “More coming out of the woods!” Matt’s voice, loud enough to echo all the way down the hill to anyone still at the cottages.

His thumb pressed firmly against my lips, and he rubbed them forcefully. "From today on, this is all you get for all three meals." As he spoke, he pulled out a lollipop from the storage compartment. It was strawberry-flavored. It was pink, and it looked sweet. However, the top of the lollipop was shaped like a collar. I stared at it. My brain completely shut down. It was strawberry-flavored and pink, but the top molded into a collar shape and was even attached to a short candy chain. Was that thing even meant for humans to eat?

Screams tore through the B2 level. Martha and I bolted for the stairs. Marcus stumbled behind. The smell of blood hit us like a wall. In the makeshift chapel, Sister Catherine was on her knees before the cross. A bloody hole gaped in her neck. A zombie was hunched over her, greedily tearing at her flesh. It had crawled in through an air vent. “Oh God…” Marcus retched. I grabbed a nearby iron chalice and slammed it into the zombie’s head.

"The GM used to work as a police officer specializing in cybercrime. He chased the culprit day and night, and he eventually died from overwork. "But I've gotta hand it to you. You're really good at hiding!" Lonnie swallowed hard. His body trembled as he glanced back, but the office was empty. Seeing that the GM wasn't here, he started to relax. Then, two drops of foul-smelling liquid landed on his hands. Confused, he looked up. A chainsaw dropped from above, slicing his body clean in half… Once the chaos inside died down, I stepped into the office and gently wiped the blood from the GM's face with a wet tissue.

He was reloading a sleek black MP5 from the prepper’s gun safe, his hands steady but his eyes wide with the certainty of death. The window shattered. Liz-1 and Liz-2 were already moving as one, like a dance choreographed in an alternate dimension. Liz-1 with a pump-action shotgun—blam!—clearing a full-body silhouette right off the sill. Liz-2 with a crowbar, jabbing under the chin of another and yanking it backward into the dirt. Neither said a word. I had no idea if they were mad at each other or in perfect synch, but I was glad they were on our side.

BECCA’S POV The concrete was freezing, but in my head, I was running through a field of fire. I was back at the university gate, but everyone was holding funeral candles. I turned to run, but my feet were stuck in a thick, black sludge that smelled of filth and old blood. "You can't run from the Loom, Rebecca!"

Since Oscar was never out of a cigar, he suspected that she was the one that was supplying him. He wished that she would do it because the both of them were always at loggerhead. While some zombies were killing the failed experiments, other zombies were putting their body parts in a bag, reading them for the black hole. "Come on! These evil zombies are chained! Get on with it!" He barked as his eyes darted to one zombie that fell on the ground, one of the chained Failed Experiment had killed him. He used the chain to pull off his head from his throat.

By the time they finished, the long-haired zombie was already rushing in. Leonard and Derek stepped back a few paces. Slice! The speed-enhanced zombie ran straight through the wires. Its body was cut clean apart. Even the skull, the hardest part, was sliced open from above the brow, its own speed driving it straight into the trap. Leonard drew a saber from his back. With a quick, precise motion, he hooked it into the split skull and pulled out a crystal core the size of a child's fist. The level 5 speed-enhanced zombie was killed instantly.

Mrs Collins screamed and turned back running towards her van while tons of zombies also started running after her. Immediately she gets to where her van was parked and wanted to open the door, the key to the van fell from her because she was trembling one of the zombies that are after Mrs Collins was so close to her and wanted to beat her when someone from nowhere showed up and hit the zombie with the long harmer he was holding.
