Standing together, Eva, at eighteen, and Olivia, at twenty-five, held each other's hand as they watched the dirt cover the graves of their parents at their large pack's cemetery… “What are we going to do?” I questioned my older sister who was weeping quietly. Giving me a look of sympathy she asserted, “I will drop out of university and get a job at the pack's shopping center.” I side-eyed her in disbelief. “But Olivia, you were getting honors and are close to graduation,” I said softly. Lowering her tear-stained eyes from mine, she exhaled deeply and said, “I promised to watch over you and will honor our parent's wishes.” This seemed unfair, and bitterness filled my heart for the drunk human responsible for fatally crashing into my parents. My eyes narrowed as I glanced over the mourners who attended the funeral and paused briefly at Austin Belmont, who was blatantly staring at my sister. “The pack whore is eyeing you,” I mumbled softly in disgust and Olivia scolded me. “He is one of the Alpha’s sons and a dear friend. Don't be so judgemental, Eva.” Rolling my eyes I told her that we should go since our parents' final resting plots were covered and the others were dispersing. “You're so hard, Eva! It's okay to have feelings,” she berated me, and I swallowed the lump of emotion in my throat. I cared, probably too much but used my walls to keep others from getting underneath my skin, not wanting anyone to get too close. I was an observer, not an emotional person, using my eyes to study the world around me. “Hey, wait up!” Austin called out, and Olivia’s steps slowed, causing me to stop and glare up at the sky in annoyance. “Luna made some meals for you to tide you both over for the next week. They brought the items to my house so we can go there, and I can help bring them over to your place,” he explained, and I eyed him condescendingly. Why the Alpha’s son cared for just a couple of parentless Omegas made my skin itch in a warning. “Please thank our Alpha, well your dad and mom, Austin. It's very sweet of them to think about us,” Olivia said kindly, and I remained tight-lipped, knowing that he was after one thing, and that was my sister’s innocence. I should know since the same crap happened to me when I gave my innocence to another womanizer during my 18th birthday who I thought cared about me. Oh, how foolish I had been. The memory of it caused me to scorn every male I came across. Austin fit in that category and was also a notorious playboy. He fornicated with any and all females willing to spread their thighs for him. Being the eldest of the Alpha’s sons he was the future leader of our Red Moon Pack and flaunted that fact continuously. My sister seemed oblivious to his pursuit and it irritated me immensely. “Let's go,” Austin said as he gestured toward his home. “Come along, sis, so you can help carry the Alpha's generous gift,” Olivia advised as she wiped her damp eyes. “I'm coming,” I muttered sourly as I followed the pair. Nestled on the edge of the surrounding forest, Austin’s home was built near the pack guards' and warrior training area, and as we passed, I eyed the pack warriors doing their daily workouts. Biting my lip I felt that I could join if I could pass the initial tests. “Eva,” Olivia called me from my thoughts, and I saw her standing on Austin's porch, holding the front door open for me. Taking one last glance at the training guards I entered the home. Having been in his house countless times I went to the galley kitchen to see several grocery sacks on the counter full of items. “This is too much,” Olivia commented and Austin chuckled. “Just wanted to make sure that you would not be short of anything,” he said, making me narrow my eyes. “I thought you said that this was from the Alpha?” I questioned him and saw his eyes narrow at me. “I am his son, so technically the same thing,” he muttered, and Olivia shot me a glance to shut it. Rolling my eyes, I grabbed two sacks, ready to leave Austin. They both grabbed sacks and we finally headed back to our home. As we walked I listened to Austin ask my sister about her classes and what she was going to do now that my parents were gone. “I'm going to drop out for the time being and take care of Eva. After things get in order, I will go back to university,” she explained, and I frowned, knowing that I was a financial burden now. “Are you going to work for the pack,” he asked her and she informed him that she was going to apply for the pack's clothing store in town. “If you ever need a ride to work, you can give me a call, and I will gladly be of service,” he said with a handsome smile. Of course, Olivia nodded graciously and told him that she appreciated the kind gesture. Wanting to gag I snubbed him when his eyes landed on me once we neared our modest house.Eva Belmont ’s pov Aurora jumped up, eyes wide in concern, and jumped over the couch toward Dante. I felt the energy shift and saw the glow around my daughter as she reached his side and took the sword from his hand. “Don't, you can't touch it,” he warned, but she had taken it and laid it down beside herself and asked him what happened. Too shocked to speak, Dante just stared at her with wide eyes. “Speak fool! Where are you hurt?!” She growled at him. Exhaling deeply, he muttered that he just had a tough job but finished it and was sore. Examining him, Aurora huffed and asked, “So out of all this blood, none is yours?” Sitting down on her butt she shook her head and then reached behind herself for his weapon. Grasping the black leather hilt, she lifted it and felt its weight before swiping the air with a grin on her face, hearing the blade sing. “I'm going to take after my mom and become a blade master,” she announced until Dante grabbed his weapon from her as he
Eva Gibson’s pov Carrying my child, I felt content and whole. Peeking over at Dante, I told him thanks, and he nodded while I set my daughter to her feet. “By order of the Goddess I'm going to be your daughter's teacher and protector since she is a druid and also will have Goddess powers,” he asserted in aggravation, making me eye him curiously. “You're not happy about that?” I inquired and saw his jaw tense. “I'm an assassin, NOT a babysitter,” he growled, causing me to snort and cover my laughter. Aurora had tossed a snowball directly in the middle of his chest after his statement then giggled. Crossing his arms, he narrowed his bright eyes, and wisps of black smoke appeared, wiping the snow from his black shirt. “Don't antagonize that man,” I scolded Aurora, and she blinked her blue eyes innocently up at me. “He needs to lighten up. Can we go home?” She said softly as I glanced at Elvina and Austin and shrugged. “We need to have Mister Rafiq teleport us,” I info
Eva Gibson’s pov Waddling around in discomfort, I stepped carefully out on the back patio to see the snowflakes falling from the night sky. It was collecting on the ground, creating a layer of whiteness. Pouting a bit, I glanced at Austin and said, “The snow is early, and I feel like I am about to pop.” Knowing our wedding was the day after tomorrow, I was agitated about it. “What is wrong, sweetheart? Nero is telling me you're distraught” he asked. “You know that I love you, and maybe I'm being a narcissist, but can we have our wedding after the pup is born? I feel like a cow and can't even walk properly, see my feet, or even wear my knife belt,” I groaned. Hearing him chuckling, my eyes narrowed at him. “How about we do our vows here at home, then have a proper wedding later?” Giving him a surprised snort, I questioned him about wanting to get married so badly. Austin stood before me with a grin and said, “I find you absolutely lovely, and I want our wedding before
Eva Gibson’s pov I was beginning to believe that there was no better way than being awakened by your mate's face buried between your thighs. Seeing me blinking my eyes, Austin peered over my mons at me with a grin on his face. “It was getting late, and I couldn't think of a better way to wake you,” he mumbled huskily while wiping his mouth of my juices. OK “Well, good thing I awoke because I need to pee,” I giggled slightly before rotating myself over him and scurrying to the ensuite. When I finished, Austin was already dressed in a three-piece suit and looking spiffy. “You'd better get ready. We have to head to town in fifteen minutes. Gasping, I questioned him about not waking me earlier as I raced around the room to gather my clothing. “I got carried away from your delightful taste, my sweet,” he chuckled at me, gazing back at me with a blush staining my cheeks. Grabbing the dress, I quickly slipped it on and turned toward him. “Wow, you're breathtaking and more lovely th
Eva Gibson’s pov Heading into the house, I glanced back at Leora and offered to carry some of the items she held while using my hip to open the door. She shook her head and told me she was fine so I directed her to the stairs. “You shouldn't be overexerting yourself in your condition, dear. Your pup is very special,” she chirped while easily going up the stairs. Once inside the bedroom that I had used, Leora turned to me with a grin on her face. She started to speak as she held up different dresses and studied me with one eye closed. “So Miss Gibson, are you excited to become Luna?” Giving her an awkward laugh, I said, “Honestly, I am happy with just being a guard, but I will support my mate, who would be a great Alpha.” Nodding, she said softly, “ I understand you completely and honestly am grateful for my son Ciaran and his lovely mate taking over our positions. Being a high queen has its perks, but I would rather have my time free of duties. I think the indigo blue go
Eva Gibson’s pov Sitting at the full dining table, memories of my family touched my mind. “They are your family now,” Lana commented, and I creased my brow at Gideon and Dante. “Those two aren't,” I murmured. “Not both of them,” she responded, confusing me more. Taking bites of the steak, I asked my wolf if she knew what the big secret was that Dante and now Elvina were finding out from me. She exhaled deeply and said, “I am knowledgeable about a little but not the entirety. I also have been ordered not to mention anything until it is known for certain.” Frowning, I stabbed the pieces of meat in aggravation. “Tell me, I should be told if it involves me and you are MY wolf! I don't appreciate being left in the dark,” I thought sternly, causing her to snicker. “Fine brat, do you know about the Lithuanian Goddess Medeina?” Narrowing my eyes, I muttered, “She is a forest Goddess to the hunters and warriors. She is said to be a beautiful woman with a white she-wolf and
