His eyes searched my face, for guilt, for betrayal, for an explanation I wasn’t ready to give.“Caroline,” he said, voice low. “Are you okay?”Everyt

The wine-stained dress clung to my knees as I pushed through the garden path with all my strength. my heart pounding louder than the music from inside. The once beautiful stars above blurred like melting silver in the sky.I couldn’t breathe.I didn’t want to, in fear that if I breathed too loud, I might choke on my tears that were gushing out like waterfalls.Xavier was in the garden, all alone with the joeline, making out…, After all the apologies and guilt.“Caroline!” I heard Daphne call behind me. But I didn’t stop. Not until my legs finally gave out near the marble fountain in the center of the party hall, far from the garden, and a distance away from all the noise. I collapsed on the edge of it, choking on the sob that tore its

I needed to clear my head. I real

I should’ve turned back. Noo my first action would have been to tear the damn letter into pieces, not giving a damn about the content. I should’ve gone straight back to Caroline, I swear I was trying to fight back her trust, and I was almost at the verge of success. But the letter…It came at the wrong time. My hands instinctively went towards my pockets where it was still burning in my pocket like it had teeth.“Come to the west balcony. I’ll tell you everything. No more secrets. You deserve the truth, X”I already know the person who sent it. Oir four years of friendship would be in
