Author's POV

Emerald didn't react quickly, she stayed calm. If Egon knows that she is her sister then there are only two reasons why he has brought her here.

First, he wants to make her jealous and show her that her sister is on his side and one more person has betrayed her.

Second, he wants to kill her in front of her.

But Emerald has never seen him bring her any relative so gently into the house, they were bruised and battered in blood, so it means Ruby is really on his side and she is just a pawn in his game.

"She is not my sister!"

Emerald replied with a voice which sounded defeated and walked away.

Ruby came back and sat beside Egon.

"I am so sorry!"

Her face was red after crying.

"Why do you care?"

Egon asked while shuffling through her papers, Ruby is the good, angelic sister. He is not fond of it. He hates innocent people if they are of no use to him. Emerald and Ruby are completely opposite; if Ruby is a saint, then Emerald is a monster. As much as he knows, Emerald has done everything to make Ruby's life hell yet Ruby is hurt by her situation.

"She made your life hell."

Ruby wiped her wet cheeks.

"But she is still my sister, last time when I saw her, she was on the throne and now she is in bounds... I just couldn't take it..."

Egon hummed.

"How much time will she take to kill you?"

Ruby looked down embarrassed.

"Not even a single minute!"

"Learn to invest your emotions in the right people."

He shook his head, annoyed, and Emerald walked back.

She washed her face but she was still looking cranky. She saw that Ruby had stopped crying and was making a rough map. She can use software to make it, but the way that Castle is built, it's hard to instruct technology to map it. It can only be done by the person who knows the castle.

She sat in front of her, and Egon's phone rang. Emerald sighed in relief when he answered his phone and walked out, not before giving her a warning glare.

Ruby looked at Emerald and hesitated to talk but finally opened her mouth.

"Did you really loot them?"

Emerald gave her a bored look.

"Use your empty mind and see if you can crack the mystery."

Ruby shrugged.

"You never do that, your reputation is too high to do that and you don't even need that. You have your own chambers filled with treasures. Our beloved father, aka Mad King could do that, have been a psycho anyway. He used to make everyone's life hell and yet he was your favourite father."

"Tell them about it!"

She mocked and snatched the paper from her hand.

"I don't have time to waste it on you, why are you even here if you can't understand the difference between right and left... Dumb!"

She started making the map by herself.

Ruby sat there as Emerald started drawing, Ruby's eyes didn't stop watering, and Emerald groaned, annoyed.

"Can you stop wetting the table? You are ruining my map."

She scolded her again.

"How are you living like this?"

Ruby wiped her tears. She has a soft heart and doesn't know how to control it.

"Ask yourself, you betrayed me... Is he fucking you good for that? I don't understand the drama of you, good people. You want someone's life hell, you make it and then you cry for making their life hell."

Emerald snarled at her.

"Your mind is filled with garbage, I didn't betray you, Queen... You kicked me out..."

Ruby replied offended.

"Was it my fault that I can't play politics like you and other family members?"

"You should be grateful that I just kicked you out and didn't put a bullet in your dumb head."

She aggressively drew on the paper.

"You are a fool who fell for the enemy and rebelled against your family when I killed him..."

"You will never understand that, you don't have a heart to feel love"

Ruby replied while looking at her disappointed.

"You are cruel and that's why you are in this condition."

"Of course! You are the good girl and I am the villain... But at least I am not dumb like you..."

Emerald shook her head.

"I am not dumb, you always hated me for being a good girl and you were always jealous of me because people used to prefer me over you, you were scared that I'll take the throne... You just needed an opportunity to throw me out of the castle and you got that. My boyfriend would have been alive if you had kept your mouth shut... You announced it in the family and they killed him, you kicked me out of the castle, family and property... You didn't even care about my future and life... You are the worst sister anyone can have, everyone is right, you are a bitch and you are paying for whatever you have done to other people..."

Ruby spat madly.

"I am happy that you are here in this condition. I was dancing when your father, the mad King, died. He was a psycho fucker, just like you... I am so happy that your rein is in dust... This is my curse which you are living now..."

Emerald yawned again and rubbed her eyes while drawing the map, bored. Completely unfazed by her sister's heart-wrecking words.

"Yes, little one! I hate you and I never liked your innocence... How can you get the appreciation when I am there, I should have killed you instead of throwing you out, but your mother was crying her heart out, so I showed some mercy... I am still looking for a chance to put an end to you, especially for siding with Egon. You are the one who gave him the details about our castle and ways to break through it, bitch..."

Ruby shook her head.

"I didn't___"

"Shut up!"

Emerald gave her a deadly look, and Ruby closed her mouth. She could clearly see the hate in Emerald's eyes for her.

She has stayed with her since childhood but Emerald has never seen her as a sister. They were always rivals. Ruby tried so much to win Emerald's heart, but it was more difficult than touching the moon. She couldn't understand why her elder sister hated her so much.

Ruby flinched when Emerald threw the paper on her face. The map was complete. Ruby called Egon and he looked at Emerald who was sitting with pissed face.

He kept the map in his jacket, which showed that he had approved it.

At the same time, Layla came to him with his gun, and Emerald's heart sank, realising he was going to kill Ruby; she should have known before. Her heart started squeezing in her chest.

She can't kill her one more sister, Ruby is the only sister she has loved with her life.

Why did she make her life hell when she loves her so much? It is the biggest mystery of her life.

She closed her eyes in pain when Egon grabbed the gun from Layla.

Author's POV No one in the criminal underworld, not a even single soul would have ever imagined this day would arrive. Not in this lifetime at least. If someone had dared to suggest that Egon Bismarck, the infamous Mafia King, the man whose silence was deadlier than gunfire would one day stand at an altar… waiting for his bride? They would’ve been mocked.Ridiculed.Shot for their stupidity. And if anyone had claimed that the Queen, the woman forged from violence, vengeance, and unbreakable will walk down an aisle in a breathtaking gown, ready to offer her heart to the man she once swore to ruin?People would’ve placed bets on her blood before her vows.Yet here they were! • Ashes Between Us!   89. Survivors!

Author's POV Egon held her like a man who had been starving for years and finally had something warm in his arms again. His arms tightened around her lazy morning frame, almost too tightly, as if she might dissolve into thin air the second he loosened his grip.“To be honest,” his voice came out low, a confession dragged straight from the center of his chest, “I thought you would never accept me again.”His thumb brushed her waist in slow circles — a habit he developed long before, one that never truly died.“I still don’t feel deserving of you,” he admitted, the words cracking slightly, “even though I’m selfish enough to not let you go.”Emerald’s answer came not through words at first, but through the way she burrowed even closer, nuzzling into the warmth of him like she was trying to sink into his bones. There was no fear, no hesitation — just a quiet, hungry comfort she had missed far more than she had expected.“I was in the same dilemma,” she murmured. She tilted her head to me

  • Ashes Between Us!   88. Twisted Memories!

Author's POV Rafael had been too calm-too smug-when he asked her, "Are you ready to meet the real you?"There was something hidden behind that tone... something sharp, something calculated. Emerald should have protested. She should have pushed back. But at that moment, she was willing to walk into fire if it meant finding out who she really was.Rafael placed a naked sword on the table.A heavy, gleaming blade with a history soaked into its metal."Seen one of these before?" he asked, eyes gleaming with mischief. "Wanna touch?"Emerald's brows pulled together. She knew that question wasn't innocent. Nothing Rafael did was ever innocent. But the curiosity inside her was louder than the warning bells. She stepped forward and traced a finger along the blade-slowly, thoughtfully. She couldn't imagine the things Rafael had used this sword for.She wasn't sure she wanted to imagine."Ohh... who do we have here?"The voice behind her made her turn sharply.Another man stood there. Strikingl

  • Ashes Between Us!   87. The Love!

Author's POV The ocean was about to witness their reunion again.Egon’s lips crashed onto hers with a hunger that had been rotting in his chest for far too long. It wasn’t a kiss — it was a claim, a scream, a desperate pull of two halves that had been cut apart and finally slammed back together. Emerald clutched his shirt with trembling fingers, dragging him impossibly closer, like she wanted to pull him under her skin.He groaned into her mouth, a raw, broken sound that betrayed every night he spent missing her. His body pressed into hers as the waves curled around them, cool on their skin, nothing compared to the heat rising between them. Her hands cupped his jaw, fingers shaking as they memorised him again — the stubble, the sharp lines, the warmth that had once been her home.“Egon…” she whispered against his lips, breath trembling. He closed his eyes like her voice hurt him. “Say it again,” he murmured, forehead resting on hers. “I’ve forgotten how to breathe without it.”She di

  • Ashes Between Us!   86. She is back!

Author's POV Egon had abandoned the island castle long ago. Every stone, every hallway, every echo of that place carried the weight of what had been done to them—every wound they endured, every injustice that had carved itself into their story. Without Emerald beside him, the castle had become a living ghost, suffocating him with memories he wasn’t strong enough to face.So he had walked away.Yet today, he stood in front of it again. The familiar walls stared back at him like they recognised him—like they remembered the man who once ruled them. And standing there now, the past scraped against his heart like broken glass, burning through the thin layer of hope he was clinging to.Emerald wanted to talk. But she wanted to talk here.In front of the castle that had shaped everything between them.He didn’t understand what she had in mind, and that uncertainty was eating him alive. His hope had been dying since last night. She had avoided his touch entirely, like even his closeness felt
