There, Raya, a rare lunar-blood, was sold like a piece of property, to the highest bidder, the brooding and dark Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. But on the same day, under the blue moon, at the event that was meant to mark the beginning of a new era for the pack, Raya was publicly rejected and labelled cursed. But what no one knew was that Alpha Rex carried a deadly prophecy that stuck to him like a disease, slowly eating him from within. If he didn’t claim his second fated Luna, he would die within a year. To protect her from that ache, he let her go. She was banished, and it caused a scar on her soul. Raya hated him for it. Now, she lives in the shadows, a skilled rogue warrior, hiding a secret. Raya is pregnant with Rex’s child, a drunken magical manipulation neither of them remembers. But that moment could change everything. A new mandate is passed by the High Council that a blood marriage is needed to preserve the werewolf legacy and Rex’s life force. Raya is searched for again, forced to return to the Alpha who didn’t want her. And now, she is back for revenge. But Rex is dying. The curse is back. And worse is the fact that it is all tied to their bloodline, to the contrast hidden in their blood. And his first mate might not just have died while trying……. In a world where the elements of the earth didn’t want them together, can Raya risk everything, including her life, to save the man who once abandoned her?
더 보기I have heard that a person can tell the moment when their life is about to take a sharp turn. Maybe this is what they mean.
“What are you doing?” The slave master suddenly appears at the doorway, his eyes red and his arms too thick that he might actually be in pain.
His eyes wash through my naked body, hidden by nothing. We were all asked to line up to have our baths. I was the last in the queue and now, the only one left in the dark and musty bathroom.
“I am…”
He strides into the room without thinking, and a punch lands in my guts. The force pushes me to the ground as a loud scream falls from my lips.
I feel the impact on my arms from the granite floor, but there is no time to nurse an injury because the slave master is still standing in front of me, a sneer on his face.
“You think you are lucky because you are off to be auctioned today, aren’t you?”
I stay on the floor, not saying a word. Talking back always gets them angry. And when they are angry…
“Say something, stupid!”
I shake my head.
He laughs, the horrid voice ringing in the bathroom. "It's such a waste, you know?" His eyes land on my body, and he flicks a tongue across his bottom lip. "Imagine all the fun I could have had with you before today."
He takes another menacing step closer, and I push back into the dirty bath water. He appears amused.
“You can’t run away, Raya,” he snickers. “In fact, I can make it impossible for you to get purchased. You should have been a good little girl when I asked nicely. Now, I am going to have to do it, whether you like it or not.”
“It’s time to go!” Another slave master suddenly calls from the hallway, slamming a rod on the wall. It is the first time I am relieved to hear his voice.

The chains bite into my wrists, and a whimper escapes my lips. My wolf whines inside me, but the silver burns her each time she rears her head.
She hates this.
I do too.
I try for the umpteenth time to break free, but a resounding slap lands on my face. My head whips the other way, and the stinging makes me wince.
I should have seen this coming.
The others behind me push so hard, the scent of sweat and fear hanging in the air. In this room, we are nothing but wares to be sold to the highest bidder. My destiny has been written from the moment I was born.
I am destined for packs to use as tools, or worse, breeders.
The mere thought makes me wince again.
“It’s going to be over soon,” the girl behind me whispers. She has been in captivity much longer and has been taken to more auctions than she can remember. But she has never been bought. They call her bad luck.
“Just close your eyes and take deep breaths,” she continues, eyeing the warriors. “You are pretty. You will be bought fast.”
"I don't want to be bought," I respond, even though I don't exactly know if that is what I want. Stay back, and I will be maltreated even worse. Get sold, and I will be turned into a breeder.
"You should." Her voice, even though in a whisper, manages to echo around the walls, but no one looks her way with a whip in hand, not even the warriors.
This is when I notice the shift in the air, the sudden heat that is burning through space, dispelling sweat, but leaving the fear behind. My back bends involuntarily, a heavy weight pressing me down.
It feels like static, the electricity weaving through every part of my being. This is the reason why the other girl was ignored.
Everyone has bowed their heads without being told, and a weird silence washes through the room.
He walks in.
Alpha Rex. The most powerful Alpha in the region and the kind of man who never bothers with council auctions.
So why the hell is he here?
The girl behind me sucks in a sharp breath. “Don’t look at him.”
But I do. My eyes lift from the ground, and I find him staring right back at me. His gaze is sharp enough to cut through metal. I should quit staring.
Yet, I can’t.
Alpha Rex angles his head, his eyes still on me. My wolf starts whining suddenly, and my eyes fall wide open in panic-induced surprise.
Mate.
He doesn’t flinch. Not even one bit. I keep watching as he pulls his gaze away and moves to his seat at the edge of the dais as if nothing happened.
Or did I just imagine that?
The auctioneer’s loud voice suddenly pierces through the air. “Raya, seventeen, unclaimed, unmarked…. As for the unmated part…”
The slave master from this morning crossed the space to the auctioneer. He leans in and whispers something to him. And at once, I know I am doomed.
“Er...” the auctioneer clears his throat noisily as the slave master pulls away. “Raya is no longer up for purchase. The sellers have decided that…”
“Ten thousand.”
The room suddenly falls silent, and I whip my head around so fast that it might hurt later on.
“Alpha Rex?” the elder seated at the center blinks.
“Ten thousand for the girl,” he repeats, his voice as cold and hard as steel. “Any outbidder?”
Everyone starts talking at the same time. Mouths fall wide open, and even the high council isn't left out.
“Alpha Rex, she isn’t up for…”
“I decide whether she is up for sale or not,” he cuts in, leaning back in his chair. “And I have just offered a bid. Well?”
“Going….Going once. Go…ing twice….”
"Sold!" Alpha Rex interrupts again, rising to his feet. His eyes find mine once again, and I feel every word as he mutters. "And if she's been touched, I'll make the wolf who dared wish they'd died before I found them."
I stand there, watching him leave the room. My chin trembles, like I am struggling to catch my breath. The door closes loudly, the sound echoing in my head.I stumble back to the bed and sit on the edge. I stay there, blankly staring at nothing, tears sliding down without permission. I don’t even bother to wipe them. How did he find out? How did Rex know I’m pregnant? I think to myselfMy hands move to my stomach. It’s still flat, still mine, but there's life there. A small, uninvited heartbeat. I don’t know how to react to all this. Should I be angry? Scared? Or maybe both.He doesn't even care? I thought he wanted a baby? Or is it because I'm not his first mate?My thoughts circle like smoke. I remember being in the garden last night, touching the flowers, tracing their edges under the moonlight. Then the vision hit me out of nowhere and I recall that night. That cursed night.I saw it all again, the way he touched me, the heat of it, the moment I felt something dark watching from t
Raya stands by the bed, her eyes burningholes through me. She's got her hand on her stomach, gentle, almost protective. I don't look for too long, I just keep my voice sharp and cold.“I can't let you have my child.”The words feel heavy to say, but I force them out. It’s better to be cruel than to allow her to be close to me.“What?” She raises her eyebrows, like she don't understand what I say.“You heard me.” I slowly walk closer to her.“You can not mother my child.”Confusion twists her face. Maybe she thinks I will take back my words. She waits but I don't.“Why?” she finally asks.I let out a short breath, shake my head. “You don’t have the right to question me, Raya. You just do what I say.”Her chin lifts a little. There’s fire in her eyes now. “No. I won’t. We both did this, Rex. You and I. And now you want to throw it all on me?”Her voice cracks slightly near the end, but she doesn’t back down.“We’ll share this responsibility,” she says louder. The way she says we, make
The maid’s eyes are still wide with excitement when she leaves to prepare my bath. I sit on the edge of my bed, hands pressed against my belly. The room feels too small. The sound of water being poured into the wooden tub breaks my thoughts. Steam fills the air, soft and fragrant with lavender. I stand and walk toward the bathroom slowly, my legs trembling with each step. The maid bows her head when I come in. “Don’t tell anyone,” I say in a low tone. She looks up quickly. “I swear, my lady, no one will hear of it. Not a soul.” “Good,” I say. My voice sounds calm, though my chest is shaking. “From today onward, you’ll serve only me. Whatever I need, you’ll bring. Whatever you see, you’ll keep to yourself.” Her face lights up. “Thank you, your highness. I won’t fail you.” I nod and wave her off gently. “Go on. Prepare the bath, then you can leave.” She helps me undress, her hands trembling a little, then leaves when I step into the tub. The warm water touches my skin and I
I stay on the bed, rolling back and forth on it like what feels like hours. I try to stay still but I can't, I see his face every time I close my eyes. The event of the day stays with me throughout, Rex’s confrontation and Kael’s disappointment. The two of them look at me like I'm a fragile object, to be look after closely.I feel my heart pounding like it's about to burst, I put my hand against my chest trying to slow the pace. I am happy.I should feel miserable. But a little part of me feels proud. But a small part of me… feels proud. I finally stood up to him. To Rex. I finally told him off without trembling. Without backing down, for the first time since I came into this pack, I felt like me again. The old Raya. The one who didn’t let anyone walk over her.Still, the victory tastes bitter. My lips are dry. My throat feels raw. I keep thinking of his face when I called him out low. Something flickered behind his eyes. Regret maybe, or pain. I'm not sure. But I don’t care. At least
