She placed a hand over her chest to steady her racing heart. "What was I doing?"She had simply been asked a question. A basic question that anyone could have answered without making a complete idiot of themselves. And yet, she was running through the palace like she had committed some sort of crime."I wonder what is making you run at this speed."A voice spoke from behind.Rein turned to see Elara slowly walking towards her. The heiress looked at her from head to toe, taking in her floral dress."You really like flowers, don't you?" Elara said with a fake smile. "All your dresses are flower-themed. Or are you trying to attract someone we know?"Rein smiled at her. She placed her arms on her chest and looked at her with amusement."Considering you said you hadn't heard anything about me, you sure
Chapter Thirty- ThreeDeminThe Shivers Brothers made their way to the courtroom, where they discussed the events of the previous day."I couldn't find you yesterday evening, so I came to your quarters to give you a quick recap on what happened at the last meeting," Truz informed Kanem.Kanem rolled up his sleeves. "I was busy with daily tasks.""Daily tasks?" Drake questioned, hiding a grin. "What kind of daily task does the King of Ladies have? You weren't even at the Iron Grounds."Kanem frowned at him. "Do I have to tell you?""Daily tasks include going to the Hollow now?" Truz added."You know that?" Kanem frowned."One of the guards told me."Kanem laughed. "These guards can’t be trusted anymore."Drake walked beside him as he thought. "If you're not in the Iron Grounds, you're in the Hollow. If you're not in the Hollow, you're in your quarters. If you're not in your quarters, you're doing daily tasks. What else could you possibly be doing?""What else could I be doing?" Kanem r
Chapter Thirty- TwoRein pressed her back against the door and placed her hand against her chest. What's wrong with me?I left the breakfast just fine. But when I came into my room, my mind started racing through everything that had happened.Elara confessed her feelings to Demin. So what?I wasn't the one she was talking about. She hadn't been the one receiving compliments or being described as a suitable partner. Demin hadn't even said anything to encourage the heiress. So what's the issue?Pushing off the door, she walked into the room. Why was my heart racing? Why did Elara's words upset me when it had nothing to do with me? Am I really attracted to Demin, or am I just overthinking things?"Shh, Rein."She stopped walking near her bed. She found it almost amusing that she had said it out loud.I can't possibly like him. He's the Alpha heir of Ravenclaw, my brother's friend and the cold-hearted Dark Owl. He has a reputation for being difficult to approach. Plus, I have had plenty o
Chapter Thirty- One"Would you like to have breakfast with us?" Truz asked.Elara nodded and walked over to the table. "Thank you for asking me to join you," she said to Demin, bowing slightly."You're welcome, please have a seat," he said. She sat down in the empty seat, and the brothers went back to their breakfast. She helped herself and looked around the room. "This palace is indeed big, massive and beautiful, just as I have heard.""It's nice that our reputation has gone ahead of us," Demin said."We take that as a good compliment," Drake smiled."I've heard a lot of stories about the Shivers Brothers.""Good stories?" Kanem asked."Sort of the opposite."They all laughed."The stories were scary, but I don't believe any rumour unless I have a first-hand experience."Truz nodded. "So how do you feel now that you've met us?""I feel like they will be very different stories now that I've met all of you. I think the Shivers Brothers are welcoming," Elara said with a smile. The broth
Chapter Thirty DeminThe four brothers sat in the dining hall as servants arranged the plates and placed the dishes on the table."You can leave. We can dish the food ourselves." Drake said. The servants bowed politely before leaving.Demin sat in his seat and glanced across the hall. He looked around but couldn’t see Rein."Rein isn’t having breakfast with us?" Drake asked."She’ll be here shortly," Truz replied.Kanem, who had been scrolling on his phone, began laughing loudly, causing the others to look at him."Why is the commander of Ravenclaw laughing so much?" Truz teased.Drake chuckled. "If it isn’t a girl, then what else would make him laugh?"Kanem raised his head with a fake look of offence. "Does everything that makes me happy have to involve a girl?""Considering your reputation, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised," Drake replied."You're wrong. I saw a video of Rein from the Moonbound Trials." Kanem replied with a grin."Oh, I thought you were trying to flirt with one o
Chapter Twenty- NineDeminDemin stepped inside his room, quickly shrugging off his robes and hanging them up. Thoughts of earlier flooded back into Demin's mind, how he had pulled Rein into his arms in an attempt to save her from getting hurt.He just couldn't get her out of his mind. How she wrapped herself around him, laying her head upon his chest. Her steady breathing was still echoed in his mind, and the calming feeling when she had confirmed that she was okay. He had acted without hesitation, and he didn't regret it. Yet, even after they had left the shooting centre, his mind kept drifting back to that brief moment he held Rein in his arms.As he had caught the metal stand falling, he had noticed a silver line across his wrist, just below his palm. It shocked him, but he hadn't had much of a chance to check it due to the urgency to get Rein away to safety.Demin turned his wrist over to inspect. The Raven Mark.He frowned. He knew exactly what it meant. For their pack, the Rave
