Elsa’s POV

Morning came too soon. My body ached from the previous night’s ordeal, but there was no time to rest. Duties waited, and in this pack, a servant who lagged behind was punished. I pushed myself out of bed, splashed cold water on my face, and tried to hide the swelling on my cheek with a scarf.

Lila fussed over me, whispering angrily, “Why must you go? Let me cover for you today.”

I shook my head. “No. If I hide, it’ll only make things worse. Crystal will find another excuse to come after me.”

Her eyes shimmered with tears, but she said nothing more. We both knew the truth there was no protection here, only survival.

The day passed in a blur of chores. I scrubbed floors until my knuckles bled, fetched buckets until my arms trembled, and carried trays so heavy I thought my back might snap. Every step reminded me of Crystal’s slap, every whisper behind my back reminded me of her threat.

By midday, a messenger arrived at the servant quarters. He announced loudly, “Lady Crystal requests Elsa’s presence at the training grounds.”

The room went silent. Servants exchanged nervous glances. Lila’s face paled. “Elsa… don’t go.”

But what choice did I have?

The training grounds were already buzzing when I arrived. Warriors sparred in the ring, their grunts and growls filling the air. Others stood in clusters, chatting or observing. And at the center of it all, radiant in her silks, stood Crystal.

She turned as I approached, her smile sweet but her eyes gleaming with malice. “Ah, there she is. Our little shadow.”

Whispers rippled through the crowd. My steps faltered, but I forced myself to keep moving until I stood before her.

“You called for me,” I said quietly.

“Yes,” she purred, her voice carrying so everyone could hear. “I thought it was time our pack saw exactly what kind of… creature we’ve been tolerating in our midst.”

Murmurs broke out. My stomach twisted.

Crystal clapped her hands sharply. A guard stepped forward, holding a bundle. He tossed it at my feet. I bent to pick it up and froze. It was a filthy maid’s apron, stained and torn.

“Put it on,” Crystal ordered.

Laughter erupted around us. My chest tightened.

“Why?” I asked, my voice hoarse.

Her smile widened. “Because I said so. Do it, Elsa. Show them all what you are.”

I stood frozen, my hands trembling. Refusal would bring worse punishment, I knew that. Slowly, I slipped the apron over my head. The crowd roared with laughter, jeers flying like arrows.

“Look at her!” someone shouted. “Our Alpha’s rejected mate reduced to a servant!”

My cheeks burned, but I kept my chin lifted, refusing to bow.

Crystal wasn’t finished. She stepped closer, her voice dripping with poison. “Elsa here thought she could be Luna once. Can you imagine? This weak little orphan, daring to dream above her station.”

The crowd jeered louder. A stone of shame lodged itself in my chest.

“She’s nothing,” Crystal continued. “A burden we keep out of pity. But today, we end the pretense. Today, everyone will see her for what she is worthless.”

My wolf snarled inside me, begging to lash out. But I bit down on the urge, knowing the cost of defiance.

Crystal’s eyes gleamed. “Kneel,” she commanded.

A hush fell over the grounds. Every eye turned to me. My knees locked. My heart hammered.

Not again.

I could still feel the sting from yesterday, the humiliation of kneeling before her in private. Now she wanted to strip me bare before the whole pack.

“I said kneel,” she repeated, her voice sharper.

The silence stretched, thick with tension. My body trembled, caught between survival and pride.

Finally, I sank to the ground. Laughter exploded, cruel and merciless.

Crystal circled me like she had before, her voice ringing loud. “See? Even the brave Elsa bends. Even she knows her place.”

Something inside me cracked. Not broke no. Cracked, like ice under pressure.

Because though I knelt, I didn’t bow my head. I lifted my gaze, staring straight at her, daring her to see that my spirit was still unbroken.

For the briefest moment, her smile faltered. She quickly masked it, but I saw. And that flicker gave me strength.

The crowd jeered, hurling insults. One warrior tossed a scrap of bread at my feet. Another spat near me.

“Pathetic.”

“Should’ve been banished long ago.”

“No wonder Alpha Caleb rejected her.”

Their words cut deep, but deeper still was the silence from Caleb himself. I knew he wasn’t there…he rarely was when Crystal staged her games but his absence was its own cruelty.

Crystal raised her hands dramatically. “Enough! Let her crawl back to her corner. Let her remember that this is all she’ll ever be.”

The crowd slowly dispersed, but their laughter lingered in the air long after they were gone. I rose stiffly, brushing dirt from my knees, refusing to let them see me crumble.

Crystal leaned close as she passed, her voice low enough for only me to hear. “Break, Elsa. Break, so I can finally sweep you away.”

I didn’t answer. My silence was the only weapon I had left.

Later that evening, back in the servant quarters, Lila rushed to me, horrified. “They made you kneel? In front of everyone?”

I sank onto the bed, exhaustion pulling at me. “Yes.”

Tears welled in her eyes. “Why didn’t you fight back?”

“Because fighting back now would mean death,” I whispered. “And I’m not ready to die.”

Her lips trembled. “Elsa…”

I took her hand, squeezing it hard. “One day, Lila. One day, I will fight. But not like this. Not on their terms.”

That night, lying in the darkness, I replayed every laugh, every insult, every ounce of shame. My wolf paced inside me, restless, furious.

We can’t endure this forever, she whispered. We must rise. We must fight.

I closed my eyes, clinging to the memory of the stranger’s voice from the storm.

If you want revenge, survive. If you want freedom, fight.

I had survived today. Barely. Tomorrow, I would endure again. But each humiliation was no longer breaking me it was sharpening me.

And when the time came, I would no longer kneel.

I would make them kneel.

Elsa’s POVThe knock was soft, but it pulled me from my restless sleep like thunder.I blinked against the dim morning light, the silken canopy above me unfamiliar even now. My heart stuttered in my chest. It couldn’t be Dylan—if it were, I would have already felt his presence, the heavy command of his aura pressing against my wolf.I sat up quickly, clutching the edges of my robe and tying it around my waist. My bare feet sank into the thick carpet as I moved toward the living room. The knock came again quieter, hesitant.I pulled open the door. And my world stopped.Standing there, wide-eyed, trembling, was Lila.I froze, my throat closing, convinced I was dreaming. My hand shot up to my face, wiping at my eyes, desperate to clear the illusion. But she didn’t vanish. She was real. And before I could speak, she threw herself forward and wrapped me in her arms. Her familiar scent warm, earthy, threaded with lavender hit me all at once, and my knees buckled. My arms wrapped around her

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Alpha’s Watch

Dylan’s POVThe night was too quiet.I’ve learned over the years that quiet doesn’t mean peace….it means danger. It’s the breath before the strike, the pause before the knife comes down. A pack’s silence was never empty. It was heavy, charged, waiting.I stood on the balcony outside my chambers, hands resting on the stone rail as I looked down at the courtyard. Torches burned low, their flames bending with the night breeze. Guards patrolled in pairs, their boots clicking against the stones, their movements sharp and disciplined. My pack always moved with precision. That was how I kept them strong. That was why no other Alpha dared test me.And yet, I could feel it like a draft seeping through cracks in the walls. The air wasn’t clean. Whispers were spreading, like insects burrowing beneath the skin.I didn’t need to hear the words to know where they came from.Veronica.My jaw tightened. She hadn’t approached me directly since Elsa arrived, and that alone told me everything I needed t

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Mistress’s Fury

Author’s POVThe maid’s words echoed in Veronica’s mind like a cruel bell: “She sat beside Lady Selene. The Lady held her hand. Even Neris likes her.”Veronica’s fingers dug into the silk of her gown as she paced her room. The rich fabric that once made her feel like a queen now felt suffocating. How could this be happening? She had spent years weaving herself into Dylan’s life years of smiles, whispered promises, and stolen nights. She had endured his coldness when he grew distant, clung to the warmth when he allowed her close again, and convinced herself that in time, he would see that no one else could stand at his side the way she could. But now…now some little slip of a girl had walked in from nowhere, and suddenly the Luna’s chamber belonged to her.Veronica slammed her fist against the vanity, making the glass perfume bottles tremble. Her reflection glared back at her: flawless beauty, dark eyes sharp as knives, lips painted the color of blood. She had been told all her life sh

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Weighing Shadows

Elsa’s POVLady Selene still held my hand as though she didn’t want to let me go. Her grip was steady, warm, and stronger than I expected. It was strange how she made me feel safe in the middle of a room that reeked of tension.“Sit with me, child,” she said, patting the seat beside her.The maids quickly adjusted the cushions, clearing the space. I lowered myself onto the chair, my back straight, hands folded in my lap. My heart beat fast, though I forced my face to remain calm.Neris plopped down at my other side, cheerful as ever, her curls bouncing. She leaned so close I could feel her excitement radiating. Lyra, however, chose to stand near the window, her posture elegant, her expression unreadable. She crossed her arms, eyes fixed on me like a hawk watching prey.Lady Selene spoke first, her voice low but carrying weight. “You must forgive my daughters. One is too quick to trust, the other too slow. Both are young still, learning the ways of this world. But you…” Her sharp gaze

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   A Different Kind of Strength

Elsa’s POVThe morning light was soft when the knock came at my door. I had barely finished fastening the silver clasp on my gown when the guards appeared to escort me. My heart thudded as we crossed the long corridors of the packhouse and descended the stone steps. Outside, the air was crisp, scented with pine and faint traces of smoke from the chimneys.“She is waiting,” one of the guards said gruffly, and I followed, my palms damp inside my sleeves.Lady Selene’s residence stood separate from the main packhouse, though close enough that her presence could still loom over everything. The building was elegant but quiet, its white stone walls climbing with ivy. It felt older than the other structures, filled with a kind of weight that whispered of history and power.I stepped inside. The scent of herbs and polished wood filled the air. The chamber was wide, warmed by a great hearth. There, near the center, Lady Selene sat on a high-backed chair draped with wolf pelts. Two maids knelt

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Shadows of Expectation

Elsa’s POVThe gown lay across the bed like a trap. Rich velvet dyed the color of midnight, its sleeves embroidered with threads of silver that shimmered like frost. It was beautiful, far more beautiful than anything I had ever touched, let alone worn. But as I sat on the edge of the bed staring at it, I felt no pride. Only heaviness. The Luna’s chamber was quiet except for the crackling of the fireplace. Everything around me gleamed polished wood, silk curtains, a carved wardrobe filled with gowns I had never dared imagine. And yet all of it felt alien. A cage wrapped in velvet. My mind wasn’t here. Not in this room, not in this house, not in this life that had turned upside down in the space of a single day. My thoughts drifted back, again and again, to Lila.I pictured her small frame hurrying about the servant’s quarters, her bright eyes flashing when she scolded me for forgetting to eat. Was she safe? Was she still at the mercy of Crystal’s venom? I had left her behind without a
