Chapter 9 - Distraction

Vanessa

She was still crying while I just caressed her back, the treatment really has to remove the uterus and unfortunately she couldn't be a mother, but, there was another way and this one was riskier.

""Actually, there's another way to get it out without having to remove your uterus," I said and heard her sniff a little, "But it's risky."

"I accept" I heard her say and she moved a little away from me, I could see her eyes still falling a little with tears "I want to try, even if it's risky."

""If I mess up the surgery procedure, you could die," I said, showing my concern.

""Do whatever it takes," Lydia said with determination despite a sniffle coming out afterward.

Lydia and I got up, I went to the door and opened it, asking the boys to come in, then I explained to Gabriel that I could help Lydia and that there would be risks.

""I need to talk to her alone," Gabriel said and went towards his friend.

I left the clinic while closing the door behind me.

"Here," Arthur said smiling as he handed me a little box and I was confused as to why I was giving it to him "Happy birthday."

That's when I remembered that today was my birthday, so many things had happened that I ended up forgetting.

"Thanks Art" I said, taking the box from his hand.

I opened the small box and besides seeing a pair of earrings inside, it also contained a ring with a green stone.

"This ring has a protective shield, so I recommend always wearing it," Arthur said calmly "And the earrings came with it when I bought the ring."

I put the ring on my little finger, closed the box and saw that Arthur was going to say something, but he was interrupted by a scream coming from inside the clinic.

I opened the door and together with Arthur I entered the clinic and we saw Gabriel and Lydia discussing the surgery.

"I already told you everything will be fine!" Lydia said angrily.

"Stop being an idiot, you might die!" Gabriel exclaimed.

"Gabriel, I already told you I'm going to have this surgery! Stop trying to change my mind, you're not my alpha" Lydia growled at the end of her speech.

"But I'm your friend and I know what's best for you!" Gabriel shouted and I saw Lydia start to cry.

"If you really knew, you would support me and tell me that everything would be okay" Lydia said, letting out a few sniffles at the end, Gabriel was going to say something, but she wouldn't let me "I know you just see me as a sister and that you're just worried about me, but I believe that everything will be okay because I believe in Vanessa!"

"Do what you want" Gabriel said seriously and then left the clinic.

I went after him to talk to him, I didn't even have to walk far because the lupino was just outside the clinic.

"Gabriel" after I caught his attention, he turned and looked at me.

Gabriel walked towards me and then asked me not to let Lydia die, I said I would do my best.

A few hours had passed, the time on the wall clock showed it was already night and right now I'm finishing up Lydia's surgery.

I had already removed the tumor from the wolf's uterus, I was just sewing up the part where it had been removed from the uterus, it had been a complicated and delicate process, but he had finished sewing the organ and was now closing its skin.

""Everything went well" I heard Gabriel saying beside me while smiling "Thank you my love" after he said that, he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

Thankfully he couldn't see that I was a little flushed due to the mask, but I couldn't let that distract me and went back to focusing on what I was doing.

Now I'm just finishing cleaning the blood where I had sewn the wolf's skin, when I finished I threw the cottons I used in the trash and then I took off the gloves, threw them in the trash can and then I took off my mask.

"Now Lydia just has to rest" I said as I looked at the unconscious woman on the stretcher.

"Thank you very much, She'll be quite happy when she wakes up," I heard Gabriel say beside me and I could hear in his voice that there was relief.

I even understand why he's relieved, after all, when I was removing the girl's tumor, she ended up having a cardiac arrest and I managed to stabilize her with Arthur's help, but I'm glad everything worked out in the end and she'll be very excited when she wakes up.

It had been a week since Lydia's surgery, and after that day, I found out it was my chosen one's birthday and right now I'm throwing a party for my beloved Vanvan.

Some things happened in these last 7 days, Vanessa and I got a little closer and even though I already knew my beloved's name, I still call her Mate, except when we're alone. Although Arthur didn't like me much at first, now he not only supports me but also likes me as a friend, his words and also commented that if I hurt Vanessa, I would definitely regret it, even though he was already sure of that.

I heard the notification sound and picked up my cell phone that was on the sofa and read the message from Arthur saying that he was already bringing Vanessa.

A few minutes passed and I heard the door open, I went towards it and saw the two of them entering together.

"Surprise my love" I said and then hugged Vanvan who hugged me back immediately.

Some time had passed, I noticed how happy Vanvan was with that party while having fun with her friends, I believe it was perfect for her, even though it was just a birthday party.

I honestly thought it would continue like that until the party ended, but, it turned out that there was an unforeseen event, the council invaded the party and attacked the humans there, together with Arthur I managed to stop some, but, I didn't realize it was just a distraction so they could get my chosen one, apenas percebi quando ela não estava mais ali.
