Chapter 6 - Warning

Arthur

I was at home, sitting on the couch while reading a book when I heard my cell phone ringing, it was next to me on the arm of the couch, I managed to see her name and with a smile on my face I answered the call.

"Hey Van"

"Arthur, I need to ask you something."

Whenever she called me by my name, I knew it was serious.

"I can see that you are serious, especially since you rarely call me that, ask me."

"Do you know anything about Dom Sueiro Belfaguer and about me being his descendant?"

The moment I heard her question, I started to worry and was almost speechless.

".....Who told you that?"

"You knew, I can tell because you just answered me with another question when you hide something you didn't want me to find out."

"Vanessa, I..."

"I know, I know you well enough to understand that you had your reasons. Could you come here to talk to me and Gabriel?"

"I'll answer you when I get here, see you later Arthur"

After the call ended, I got up and put my cell phone in the pocket of my sweatpants, sighed and went to my room to put on a t-shirt and grab a pair of sneakers because I was going out.

I had already put on my t-shirt and a pair of sneakers, left my room and headed towards the front door.

After getting close to the door, I opened it and took the key out of the lock, left my house and turned to close the house door, After doing this, I put the key in the lock and turned it to lock the door, taking the metal out of the lock and putting it inside my pants pocket as I turned around.

I knew that Vanessa would be at work at that time and because I wanted to get there as quickly as possible, I decided to use teleportation and of course I checked first discreetly if anyone was passing by on the street and if the curtains of some of the neighbors' houses were open, and, even if someone was watching through the window, it was difficult to do this while walking without looking suspicious and after making sure no one was watching, I said the magic words doing the teleportation spell,I closed my eyes, I felt like I was pulled from the ground and then placed with everything on the ground, making me crouch down because of the force.

"This is what happens when I use a spell for the first time" I said to myself sighing at the end, I opened my eyes and saw that I was in front of the zoo gate "I hope no one saw me" I said to myself as I walked through the gate because it was open.

After entering the place, I walked towards the vet, as I walked I started to worry about the person who told to Van, besides being an alpha, being a lupus and being his companion, I shook my head thinking about the last possibility, that wouldn't happen because in the other generations the descendants weren't companions of any alpha, much less lupus, it was definitely just an alpha who knew the story.

At least I thought so, until I entered the clinic and, in addition to seeing that Vanessa was not alone, I learned from the alpha himself that Van was his chosen one.

"Stay away from her!" I said, standing in front of the Van to protect her.

Van started to say it was okay to calm me down, but I just kept glaring at that alpha, the girl said that it wouldn't hurt her as she placed her hand on my shoulder, making me look at her worriedly, especially because she spoke as if she was sure of it.

"How can you be so sure?" I asked in a sad tone of voice as I looked at her.

She said she wasn't sure, but something told her she could trust the alpha and he realized the girl was being sincere, I was confused because it was a little strange, I asked her about who would have told her that that dog in heat would not hurt her while arching one of my eyebrows, I heard the alpha say that he wouldn't hurt her because he would never break Vanessa's trust in him and honestly, I was angry about that, especially because I don't trust him.

"Don't interfere, dog" I said looking at the alpha.

I heard Vanessa scold me and the alpha said he was a wolf, I replied saying that I wasn't stupid, I saw his eyes turning red and he said that I was irritating him and I noticed that in his voice too.

"Do you want a bone to calm down, dog?" I asked mockingly and the dog responded with a growl. I laughed and continued mocking "That's it, keep barking, but just remember that I don't know how to talk to dogs Beside, you wag your tail at the council while lying on your back or just stay-..."

I was interrupted by Vanessa who slapped me on the arm a few times while telling me to stop provoking the alpha, I quickly walked away while complaining of pain. I was in disbelief, because I didn't understand why I had been beaten and I asked her, she got irritated while asking if I was being serious in questioning her about this, even because I had provoked the alpha and he didn't even believe I was acting that way, because I'm not usually like that and even though I knew it was wrong, I tried to explain why, unfortunately all I could say was "but" because she interrupted me saying I was acting like an idiot and I said he could hurt her, that he was just waiting for her to let her guard down, she continued to defend that dog saying that it wasn't just because in the past there were asshole alphas that he would be the same, the dog even said that she and I didn't need to fight, but he was interrupted by me and Vanessa telling him at the same time not to interfere, when she and I argued between the two of us, we always got heated, but the funny thing was that it was hard to disagree with each other.

"All alphas are the same Vanessa!" I said and saw the girl look at me in surprise, I immediately regretted what I said after seeing that she was hurt by it.

She said she didn't believe what I had said, especially because I always said that we shouldn't judge anyone without getting to know them first, I realized that I had said something stupid and she kept saying that just because it had happened in the past didn't mean he would be the same, I told her that I was just worried about her.

"I know, but it doesn't justify you judging him" she said and I lowered my head because I was embarrassed by the way I acted.

I looked up when I heard the alpha fake cough, I looked at him and he said he understood why I didn't trust him and that it wasn't just because of the alphas who screwed up, but also because in this century there are still some idiots who are cruel to women and children who are human.

"It's good that you have knowledge about what idiots of your race do," I said seriously. "It's the least."

I heard Vanessa scold me and that wolf said that I was right, that the least he could do was to know, but taking action was different and that he already did that, It was at that moment that I realized that the alpha was a lupus and I even spoke uncertainly because I could be wrong, but he confirmed with his head that he was a lupus, I know he had previously told Vanessa to be his chosen one, but I still asked him and he just responded with another nod, and, that's when I felt a pain in my heart.

"Why her?" I asked in a sad tone of voice, but lupus didn't answer me and that made me angry. "Say something, damn it!"

"My wolf chose her," he replied.

"Of all the women in the world, your wolf was right to choose my friend!?" I said worriedly, feeling the burning in my eyes, because I knew what could happen if his wolf was wrong.

He started to say she was a descendant, but I interrupted him saying fuck who she was a descendant of, I started to feel tears coming out of my eyes and while I was sobbing I continued to say that in recent years none of the generations were chosen and I asked why it had to be my generation, I said he knew what could happen if his wolf was wrong.

I fell to my knees and burst into tears, I heard Van call me as I felt her hug me and I quickly returned the hug, I started saying between sobs that if she wasn't really his chosen one, she would be the sacrifice, I felt her squeeze me a little and I could tell she was worried, but I stayed there in her arms until I calmed down.

When I calmed down, Vanessa asked Gabriel about the sacrifice and he told her that she was going to be dismembered, I realized that she had become worried and scared, so I held her hand and lupus told me and Van not to worry because Guará was sure it was her, but I didn't completely trust it, especially because there's a risk that they'll be a few hours before going into heat and not have realized it, I heard that this happens, but only with the most clumsy ones.

"I'll be very direct" I started to speak seriously, I gave a light squeeze to Van's hand who was next to me and Gabriel was watching me and waiting for me to continue "I will believe you."

"You can be sure you won't regret it" he said after making a small reference.

"However, if by any chance, Van is not the true chosen one of your wolf" I said in a serious tone "Say goodbye to your friend because I will castrate you in cold blood" I spoke, showing my anger at the possibility of my friend not being his chosen one, and Lupus just swallowed dryly "You don't need to be so tense, after all, it's just a warning" I said, giving a sideways smile at the end.
