Chapter 8 - Consolation

Gabriel

"Now you will explain to me, you only have 2 minutes" Arthur spoke in a threatening tone.

I told everything that happened, summarizing it so it wouldn't take too long and end up going over 2 minutes.

I told her how she took advantage of my heat, that I dated her because besides thinking that I would never find my chosen one, I also felt responsible for taking her virginity while I was in heat, I thought I would see her as more than a friend and in the end I discovered that she was cheating on me with another alpha, in the end I broke up with her.

"It's true that I cheated on you, but I really am pregnant" Lydia said as she tried to hug me, but I didn't let her.

"How long have you been pregnant?" My mate asked.

"I don't know, I only realized after a week that the little coconut broke up with me" Lydia said with a sad look "I'm not so sure that you're the father, but you were the first one that came to my mind when I knew I was carrying a baby in my womb" she said as she looked at me and after finishing, she put the hand on your belly.

"Have you been to the doctor to see how far along you are in your pregnancy?" I asked.

"Not yet, I just went looking for you desperately" Lydia said "But when I found out you had left town, I was worried and even went to talk to the alpha who had laid me down that day, but he did not believe that the child could be his."

"If you want, I can see it for you," my mate said and both Arthur and Lydia and I looked at her.

"If you want, I can turn into a wolf to make it easier," said Lydia.

"You won't need it" my mate said looking at Lydia, then my chosen one changed her gaze to me "Gabriel, you and Arthur need to leave while I do a pregnancy test on her"

Lima and I left the clinic and talked for a while. He asked me how long it had been since Lydia and I broke up, and I said it had been 3 months.

I don't know what Lima was going to tell me because he had been interrupted by a scream from Vanessa, we entered the prey and saw a wolf with white fur, I knew it was Lydia.

"I'm not a liar!" Lydia said as she showed her fangs to Vanessa.

After Gabriel and Yoongi left, I told Lydia that we would first go see the baby because there could be more than one, She was excited to see the baby because she hadn't seen it on the ultrasound yet.

After I picked up the device, I asked her to lift her shirt a little, she was already lying on the table when I put the gel on.

I started to pass the device over the gem, Lydia had her eyes on the screen with emotion and when I looked to where the baby should be, unfortunately, there was no baby there, just a tumor.

"Where's my baby?" Lydia asked, and I could hear the emotion in her voice.

I looked at Lydia and saw that she was smiling and had tears in her eyes, my heart ached when I thought about how disheartened she would be to find out that she wasn't pregnant, but, I should be honest and not lie.

"I have some bad news" I said with a sad tone in my voice and I saw her smile fade "Unfortunately..." I was interrupted by Lydia.

"I lost my puppy!?" she said in a sad tone of voice "A bloody one had come out in those days, I was afraid of losing my baby until my mother told me that it was normal for some pregnant women to have spotting, but..." she stopped talking and broke down crying "I lost my baby"

"You didn't lose him" I said as I ran my hand over her back and saw her look at me with those sad eyes "It's not a puppy in your uterus, it's a tumor."

"Are you calling me a liar?" she asked in an angry voice.

"No, I...." I was interrupted by the lupine.

"I had the symptoms of someone pregnant!" she said angrily and I saw that her ears and tail had appeared.

I was going to talk about the possibility of her having had a phantom pregnancy, but she pushed me, making me fall to the ground, and when I realized it, she had already turned into a white wolf that was jumping towards me, I luckily managed to dodge her and then got up while yelling at Lydia to calm down.

I heard the door open and knew the boys had come in, Lydia said she wasn't a liar as she showed me her fangs.

"I didn't say you were one" I said trying not to be scared "It's rare for this to happen, but you have pseudocyesis, which is known as a phantom pregnancy," I explained and saw her stop showing me her canines. I breathed a sigh of relief and continued "You have cervical cancer, there is treatment."

I saw her become human again and I also saw Gabriel and Arthur turn around, they both said they would wait outside.

"The treatment would be to have my uterus removed," Lydia said in a tearful voice. "I will never be able to have another baby again."

After she said that, she fell to her knees while crying and I walked over to her, then I crouched down and hugged her as a consolation.
