LOGINMateo was silent as he walked to my right. I wanted to ask him questions but I found it form words in his presence at the moment. A cat had my tongue, my grandmas favorite saying since I was always talking and never silent. When I didn’t have anything to say or couldn’t, she would always say ‘cat got your tongue?’. I hated when she would and it usually led to a total meltdown. That was before I knew what she meant and could understandn it was just a joke.
“Cat got your tongue?” A deep voice quietly boomed from beside me. Um, hello? Can he read my mind or something? Alright Amara just form a sentence, any sentence before the silence goes on too long and he thinks you’re a freak. We still had a decent walk to our next class and I didn’t want to seem more dumb than I already did. “Sorry, this is just a little shocking and unexpected but thankfully you have the best tour guide one can offer.” I said sounding just a little unlike myself. He didn’t respond, just a slow nod as if he was contemplating what I told him as a lie or not. I surveyed his clothing through my peripheral, noting the dark clothing tighten where his most prominent muscles were. He wore black Levi’s that fit very nice on his ass, yum. The long sleeve covered everything making his features more pronounced and showed off how fit he was. Five rings dressed his fingers, his ears were pierced with small gold hoops that matched his nose ring. His black curly hair reached his neck, making it look longer than it was and clashing with his caramel skin tone. He was easily the most gorgeous man I have ever met. He eyed me, chuckling as he did so, making his luscious lips open up to show his straight white teeth, either side had dimples too. Hmm. It looked familiar, like Déjà vu. I still couldn’t place it. Whatever. “Like what you see?” He asked, smirking as he did so. God I’m going to melt into a puddle of hormones. I turned to him, smirking back, “So what if I do?”. He shook his head laughing, he liked that I challenged him. Hell, I liked that I challenged him too. We stopped walking and turned to loom at each other. I really do know him from somewhere. Yet every time I try to grasp it, it disappears like sand once I close my hand. Besides that, that buzz was back with a vengeance, too high. That’s actually how I could describe it, like I smoked too much weed. I didn’t notice we were slowly moving towards each other, inches away and I could have kissed him before someone rudely interrupted by clearing his throat. Sora. Sora was part of my huge friend group. He moved here in the second grade from Japan and knew very little English. He was bullied, meaning my horrible mood and anger issues got me in a lot of trouble for defending him and beating people up. From then on we were always together, slowly gaining people into our large friend group and remaining as close as ever. People stop messing with you when you have a short, quick to anger friend that isn’t afraid of her opponent. Sora took note of our closeness once more before a big smile erupted his features. Turning to me he said, “He’s been here not even a full school day and you already found the hottest guy to exist in town.” One thing I forgot to mention, Sora is gay, like really gay. He once told our group that if he had to pick a woman to be with it’d be me, but only because he knew he would be safe. Other than that, he was with any man that made himself available, the perks of being a vampire. I knew he liked what he saw in Mateo based on his elongated fangs poking from behind his upper lip. “Sorry Mara, I already met him in the office during my T.A. time. Absolutely delicious.” Sora cooed to me with a lick of his lips and a wink only I could see. “You may have met him first, but I am the one designated to show him around the area, both during and after school.” I challenged Sora, though it was just a friendly jab. This was something we did a lot, some small friendly competition. I wasn’t in the market for hookups like he was and yet we still went back and forth seeing who was better at getting what they wanted. I usually won and directed them to him after, knowing I had the attention first hand but he got them in every other way. Great wingman/wingwomen-esque behavior. “I don’t think it matters Sora,” Liz said coming from behind Mateo and I with Sarah in tow, “ the chemistry with these two is radiating, you don’t have a chance in hell.” That earned a laugh from everyone, Mateo included. It was deep and hearty, making my temperature rise and my cheeks burn. Panties wet also. I’ve never had this reaction to a male before, probably ever. Sure I wasn’t a virgin, that was just out of need and necessity. Everything about Mateo made me feel like I’ve been missing him my entire life. Some deep recognition was there just not sure where. “Mateo, excuse my manners, this is Sora and the two behind you are Sarah and Liz.” I explained hopefully hiding the way I felt underneath, knowing it probably wasn’t working by the way his eyes never left mine. I needed to drive this conversation to others before I decided to bring him into an uninhabited classroom and let him do whatever he wants to me. As soon as the thought left my brain, Mateo’s eyes seemed to grow dark with lust, like he heard me. As if he noticed the discomfort from my own feelings he turned to the others before saying, “It’s very nice to meet all of you, thanks for helping Amara get me acquainted with others.” He nodded his head with a dazzling smile before turning his attention back to me. “Where to next?” He asked with a slight tilt of his head. “English,” I said fast,” it’s on the other side of the campus. See you three later at Oliver’s.” I waved quickly to them before pointing my head in the direction Mateo and I needed to go. We had a decent walk due to the large campus and I have a habit of being late to this one class. He didn’t hesitate and followed me along, both of us stealing glances at each other, probably hoping the other will break the silence. Of course it was me since I can never shut the fuck up for once. One of my many talents. “I’m sorry if this seems weird, but I have this weird feeling like I know you from somewhere. Almost like-“ he cut me off before I could finish. He stopped me and looked me in my eyes, although he hasn’t really stopped, before continuing. “Like Déjà vu?” ~~~~~~~~~~ “Terra you cannot do this, she is a human infant, both of them are! Please tell me you are not on board with this Selene?” Solis said with discontent. Terra ignored him of course, looking to Selene to see if she agreed. Selene stared at her, unsure if she should speak up or not. She hated when her and her siblings fought, but this time she was on Terra’s side. These two infants were specifically bred to become human sacrifices, born to appease Mortem and Vita. Selene hesitated before speaking slowly and calmly. “Solis, you know what they plan to do! They will devour them and discard their bones like trash! This is not what Life or Death wants. Even us for that matter, Terra do it and I will give you my blood.” Solid was angry but not irrational, he did understand what this meant. They were tasked with the protection of humans making more of themselves along the way. The Supernatural were put here to protect the weak, something they once were. Those that walked the Earth lived in harmony and peace, but fear had quickly struck their hearts and souls, turning them against each other like sin. “Terra, Selene,” Solis began, “I understand the urgency and seriousness, but what we are to create is an abomination to the powers that be. Would Vita and Mortem even agree?” He was worried, not only for them but the rest of the inhabitants of the Earth. To create this could mean certain death for everyone. Was it even worth sparing the lives of the innocent infants? He didn’t know, none of them did. “Ah, our children once bickering again, to what end?” Vita chuckled quietly to Mortem. They both looked proud and amused, knowing these three were doing what they had been tasked to do so many years ago. The three standing if front of them startled, before relaxing at the site of their comrades, or parents. Whatever was necessary. Terra stared at them both before asking the question that was on hers, Selene’s and Solis’ minds. “Will this upset the balance of nature?” She hoped no. Mortem quickly shook his head no. He and Vita had both foreseen this exact event eons ago, before the three standing before them were a thought. This was always meant to be and went as far as to explain this exact thing. “They will protect what you cannot, they will balance what you cannot, and they will succeed where you cannot.” He stared at each of them individually before he revealed the fate of their destiny’s. “They are mates, both born at the same time but different places. They will always find each other, fight for each other, love each other. There will come a time where they will need to find each other again but that won’t be for many thousands of years from now. Do it Terra, now before it is too late. Fear will be here for them soon with the Forgotten.” Terra quickly cut open her palm before handing the knife to Selene next, and then Solis. Each dripped blood into the swirling pot before them with an audible sizzle, meaning the spell was working. Mortem and Vita brought both crying infants in front while Terra spoke ancient language quietly before turning and signaling the readiness of the mystery liquid. Each small child was given a considerable amount in their bottles before drinking them happily, quieting their cries. They all could feel their life force strengthening as they fed before a loud howl interrupted the spiritual process. Vita turned her head in the direction it came from before exclaiming out loud to the hidden figures, “It is done, you are too late. The Trinities have been brought forth!” Howls erupted from all around before it went eerily quiet. Mortem and Vita turned to the three holding the newly transformed infants. Small smiles painted their faces, and something else that may have been pride. At the same time they dematerialized and spoke the words that would ring in the minds of the three. “Hide them, train them, teach everything you know. Do not let Him get them, that would be the end of all of us.”Mateo was silent as he walked to my right. I wanted to ask him questions but I found it form words in his presence at the moment. ‘In the beginning, there were Three. The Three, derived from Life and Death themselves, walked alone on the Earth lost from another. Each could feel the others life force as they wandered aimlessly alone day and night with only the quiet and elements to keep them company. Driven mad with loneliness, they began to beg for help from the Sun, Moon, and Earth only to be met with silence. When the first felt like all hope was lost, he turned to the Sun and cried for his suffering to end. "I have given you everything I can and the only thing I have left to give is my life." He screamed at the sky unwilling to fight for his sisters or his life. In the morning he wondered into the desert, preparing for the Sun to take him, as he felt he would be a coward if he were to end his own life. Instead, he wanted the elements to take him and become part of the Earth he had wondered too long on. It would be his parting gift to the place that took his sisters from him and kept them hidden for way to
There's always a man that watches me. He hides in the shadows and only comes out to be illuminated by the faint streetlight overhead. He waits for me to be alone. He follows me everywhere I go. I see him while I pass classes or when I stare out the window when the lecture one of my teachers is giving, bores me. He waits for me after school, hiding between the darkness the buildings cast so I don't have a way of seeing his face. I may not see him, but he’s always there. It must be such a thrill. Yet he never approaches me. Gradually overtime we gravitate towards each other, like magnets desperately attempting to cling to a small amount of metal when pulled away.I can feel his presence like a sixth sense, although what I truly am explains this. I don't want to be anywhere near him but I can't help it. I'm intrigued and it's going to get me killed. A spark deep inside my body erupts when he's around and I can't explain it, but I need him. I stay my distance from this stranger as I alway
