Out of nowhere, I felt warm arms wrapped around me, and I was backed into the forest extremely fast.

I hugged my savior, sobbing hard.

Connor held my shoulder, prying me away from his tall and sturdy body.

He sees my burst lip.

"Who did this to you?" Angrily, his eyes began to glow a bright yellow.

"My mother." More tears came down as I responded.

"She will pay for what she has done," he said in a monstrous voice that scared me.

He started to turn away from me.

"No, Connor," I stopped him, holding him by the hand.

As I did, he never turned to look at me, consumed in anger.

"Though my mom is verbally abusive towards me. It was the first time she had hit me because she was drunk. Please don't hurt her for my sake," I pleaded.

Although it was the first, her hurtful words thrown at me felt the same today as her hit.

As much as I didn't want Connor to harm my mom. I was more concerned about him. He'd already sacrificed his true identity to save me and also broken a forbidden rule by being with me. I can't allow him to risk any more for me.

He calmed down, and from aside I watched as his eyes revert to their dark human form.

"You're not going back to stay with her," Connor said, spinning around.

"I have to; where will I go? And I can't stay at your home because of the forbidden rule."

"I'll buy you a house now," he said, causing me to freeze in my place.

"I come from a long line of trillionaire werewolves, so money is never my problem," he explained.

I was thankful he wanted to buy me a house, but I couldn't allow him to spend that amount of money on me.

"I'm sorry, but it feels wrong to take a house from you," I said.

He drew closer to me, and I could tell in his eyes that he was still trying to fight back his anger at not going to hurt my mother by the wounds on my face.

"Aren't I your boyfriend, as you humans would refer to someone you're dating?" He asked, staring deeply into my eyes, and I no longer felt weary, nor did the wound on my face hurt anymore.

I nodded.

Seeing that I still didn't want to accept his offer of buying a house, he changed to renting an apartment, and I accepted it.

***

For 20 minutes, I sat in the front of his jeep, before a black and white apartment, while Connor spoke to the landlord.

Once Connor was finished, he came over to me and opened the car door.

"The apartment is yours," he said with a smile.

I smiled back and came out of the car.

The apartment was within the wealthy area of Dims-Wood, where Bryson and his girlfriend dwelt.

As Connor led me inside the house, the landlord pulled out the available for rent sign from the ground.

The apartment was refurnished, having all the furniture inside already. It was a 1-bedroom with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and dining room.

"How much did you pay for this?" I asked, examining the beautiful decorative interior of the house which looked very expensive.

"You don't need to worry about it." Connor went into his pocket and took out his wallet while we both stood in the living room.

He handed me $10,000 US dollars.

"I can't take this, not after you've rented this apartment," I said.

"$10000 is nothing but a penny for me, and I wish I had more cash on me to give you now."

"You not only need some place to stay, but you'll also need money for food while you're here."

"Thank you," I said, taking it.

As he handed me the money, he said, "Don't worry about the bill. I'll pay them."

I thanked him again, and tears filled my eyes.

"Sit right here." He helped me sit down.

"Where are you going?"

"I'll be right back," he said with the most alluring smile and went upstairs.

He was back in the living room in no time with a first aid kit.

He pulled a chair before me and sat down.

I stared at his face as he attended to my wound, still in disbelief that someone as beautiful as him belonged to an unattractive person like me.

"It's all done," he said as he was through.

I saw anger in his eyes as he examined his finished work.

"Thank you and for everything you've done for me," I said, bringing his attention from my wound to my eyes.

"I'm glad I'm the one there for you," he said and we both halt, staring into each other's eyes.

Being alone in an apartment with him and sitting so close, nervously, I break the stare.

"I need to get my clothes and school stuffs back at my mother's house," I told him.

As soon as I mentioned my mom, every painful word that she had ever said to me filled my mind, now tormenting me. It was too much.

"I'm not going to let you go alone; I'm coming with you." Connor stood up.

"Give me a minute; I need to use the bathroom." I walked heavily upstairs, burdened by every hateful word that was said to me by my mother.

One hateful word stood out the most. One that will forever stay with me. "Don't call me your mother!"

It was the loudest voice in my head. It kept repeating, getting louder every time he did. Tormented by it, I went into the bedroom instead of the bathroom.

I fell onto the floor while trying to battle it and to make it stop.

Hearing my fall from downstairs, Connor was in my room immediately.

"Make her painful words stop," I cried out to Connor and started to squeeze my head as if it would help.

Connor came to me on the ground; he held me in his arms and kissed my head. Immediately, my mother's horrible words were gone, and all I could feel was his lips pressing against my head.

I cling to him, not wanting the silence in my head to end.
