"May I know what was written in the letter, Scott?" asked Mr. James.
Scott closed the letter and replied, “My father died of poison. Someone put poison in his food and that's why he died."
"Do you have a suspect?" James asked.
"Not. I never thought of suspecting anyone, but Fred's father couldn't have done something despicable like this. As far as I know, despite competing with my father, he places great emphasis on honesty and sportsmanship. So, somehow I feel a little confused, this letter confused me. Who had the heart to put poison in my father's food? He's never hurt anyone," Scott replied, looking back at the letter in his hand.
“But the poison was found in Fred's father's study room. How do you explain that?” asked Mr. James.
"I don't know, I'll look into this later. Then, am I still obliged to come to Peter's funeral?"
“After considering it, I decided it wasn't necessary anymore. I will send my assistant to come to the funeral. Now you can go."
Then, Scott got up and said goodbye to Mr. James, then stepped out of the office of the High Court. This time he walked out of the High Court headquarters alone. He walked down a long hallway that was directly connected to the headquarters exit.
Outside, one of Mr. James' private driver was waiting for him and as soon as he saw Scott, he immediately opened the car door and let him in.
“Mr. Scott, please come in. Mr. James asked me to take you home," he said as he stood beside the car door.
“Okay, thanks Axel,” Scott replied as he got into the car.
Not long after that, Axel was sitting in the driver's seat and was starting the car engine while fastening the safety belt. Scott, sitting in the back passenger seat, stared out the side window wondering where to start the investigation. It felt like all roads seemed deadlocked and there were no clues at all.
When he was daydreaming, apparently Axel realized that Scott looked confused. He ventured to ask.
“Sir, is there a problem? I'm sorry I interfered too much," he asked.
Scott, who was originally looking out of the window, then turned his head and looked at Axel, then replied, “Yeah, too many things have happened lately and it all confused me. What should I do?"
"Doing for what, sir?" asked Axel again.
"To investigate the mastermind behind my father's death."
"But, isn't the mastermind Mr. Fred's father?" asked Axel once more.
"That's what confused me. From all sides, it seemed impossible for him to do all that. Since childhood, I have known him well. So when the evidence pointed to him and he went to trial. I really couldn't believe any of that. I wish there was something else that could lead to something that would make him innocent. However, Fred's father had committed suicide in prison and Fred blamed me for his father's death. Our friendship since childhood is finally broken.”
"I'm sorry about that, sir. But, hopefully, there will be a solution to the problem you are facing.”
"Thank you, Axel."
"You're welcome, Sir."
After the conversation, Scott leaned back in his chair and tried to recall the day his father was found dead. At the time, he was in town with Tom and Katie. Moments later, his father's assistant informed him that his father had died while eating his lunch. However, the assistant did not know if his father died from poison until the autopsy evidence from the police came out.
From there, Scott got a glimmer of hope, maybe what he should do is ask again about the actual sequence of events to his father's assistant named Alex.
Happiness was visible on his face. The handsome man hoped that his efforts this time would not end in vain and could bring good results for himself and Fred's father's name if he was not the culprit.
Not long after, the car arrived in front of Scott's house which is nice, although not very big, but looks very cool and peaceful.
"Sir, we have arrived," Axel said as he looked back.
"Thank you, Axel. I'm going down now. Drive carefully,” Scott replied as he got out of the car.
Then, after closing the car door, Axel slowly drove the car back away from Scott's residence.
Not long after, from inside came out Katie and Tom. Tom is a Beta in Scott's Pack, while Katie is an Omega. For Scott, Tom was his best friend and personal assistant whom he greatly admired.
“Scott,” Katie exclaimed as she ran to the handsome man and hugged him. Scott returned the hug as he looked at Tom.
Then Katie let go of her arms and touched the handsome man's cheeks and said, “Sheriff Webb told us everything and asked us to wait for you here. So, sorry we didn't come looking for you or met you at the hospital."
"It does not matter. Oh yeah, are you guys all right?” asked Scott.
Then, Tom came up to him and hugged him while replying, "We're fine, just—"
"Just what?" Scott asked as he let go of his arm and looked into Tom's eyes.
“Many of our friends were killed and also injured. Katie and I have arranged treatment for the injured. However, Fred and his friends did not seem to accept this. I'm worried for the future, I don't know what he will do again, "said Tom.
"You mean revenge?" Scott asked to confirm.
"Yes. We know what Fred's character is like. What's more, I heard Peter died."
"That's right, Mr. James asked me to come to his funeral."
"Then?" Katie asked curiously.
“I refused, but he insisted. Until finally, I received an autopsy letter from the police and Mr. James withdrew his order."
"That easy for him to withdraw his orders?" Katie asked.
"Yes."
"Sounds weird to me," said Tom.
"Guys, can we go inside first, I'm making Scott's favorite fruit pie," Katie said.
When the three of them were about to step into the house, from a distance they saw a car coming towards them and stopped right in front of Scott's house. It turned out to be Sheriff Webb's private car. The middle-aged man got out of the car and walked over to Scott, then stopped right in front of him.
"Good afternoon everyone," said Sheriff Webb.
"Good afternoon Sheriff. Is there anything we can help with?" asked Scott.
“I want to show you a badge. I think this badge looks familiar to me and maybe to you. Alright, do you guys recognize this badge?” Sheriff Webb took out and showed him a circular badge with two crossed swords on it.

Brukk... the guard fell to the floor with a head wound and his body was pulled into the toilet. The person who cooperated with the adviser to knock out the guard was waiting in the women's toilet. There were two of them, plus the adviser so there were three of them and they had managed to knock out the guard. They pulled the guard's body into the toilet, tied him up, and locked him in one of the cubicles. Covered his mouth with adhesive so that when he came to his senses, he wouldn't be able to scream. Then, the adviser and two of her subordinates rushed from the toilet to the room next to the main hall of the meeting hall. The three of them forced open the door of the room where Scott and Lisa were. Luckily at that time, there was no one guarding at the door, so it was easy for them to free the two of them. From inside the room, Scott and Lisa wondered who was opening their door? Scott asked Lisa to stay behind him, while Scott prepared to attack any
Leizell was just lying to them because the necklace didn't explode and wasn't connected to her watch. Everything she did was just to scare them, nothing more. She's just trying her best to get Scott to work with her, then she's going to cancel Lisa as a bet. With an emotionless face, Scott replied, “Can't we just not do this? This is not true. Which wife can stand to see her husband having sex with another woman? Please think about this.”Leizell smiled, then replied, “None of my business. My decision is clear and irrevocable. Now answer me one more time, do you want it or not?”Scott was silent and turned to Lisa saying, “Look the other way and cover your ears. Don't look at us."Lisa's eyes were wet, her face was sad, why did her relationship with Scott have to go through such an ordeal? Is their love being tested? Can they not unite? Not even one year of their marriage, problems keep coming to test their loyalty.Th
"Answer quickly! What disorder do I have?” asked Leizell in a high-pitched voice.“Please let go of my hand first, Miss. It hurts. I'll explain," replied the adviser with a pained expression on her face.Leizell released her grip on the adviser's wrist and stood before her with a gaze that could tear anyone's body apart. An unforgiving gaze that was ready to devour its opponent.“Hurry up and say it! I can't wait," shouted Leizell. It was the first time Scott had seen the other side of Leizell, she had so little respect for a blood relationship. After learning that the adviser was her mother, Scott felt that Leizell should respect that woman no matter what the circumstances. What a shame, Scott thought.Meanwhile, Lisa saw the scene that happened in front of her eyes was really sad. If possible she wanted her mother to come back to life. However, Leizell disappointed her mother."Okay, Miss," the woman answered slowly.
Scott turned around and was surprised. He thought that Leizell would not kidnap Lisa. He ran to the glass wall and shouted. "Lisa, Lisa. It's me, Scott."Then, the two guards put Lisa into the room next to Scott's. They were only limited by a glass wall. Lisa immediately ran over to Scott and looked at him sadly.“Scott, are you all right? We looked for you everywhere, but you still can't be found. I miss you so much," Lisa asked while crying."I miss you, too. I'm fine. Don't cry, I'm here and still alive. Are you okay?" Scott asked worriedly."I'm fine. Where are we, Scott? Who kidnapped us? Are we the only ones being held captive?” Lisa asked curiously.“The Alpha of the Blue River Pack who kidnapped us. I don't know if we're the only ones kidnapped or not and we're at their base.”“Why did they kidnap us? Does she have a grudge against you?” Lisa asked."Not a grudge, but she—""Why
It didn't take long for the van to arrive at the Leizell residence. The van walked into the large and spacious front yard of the Leizell residence, then stopped right in front of the main entrance. This time it was not only the adviser who welcomed Lisa's arrival but also Leizell. That woman was very curious about what Lisa's real body and figure were like. Then, the van door opened, three big men got down and supported Lisa's body into the house. Leizell seemed to direct them all to lay Lisa's body carefully in the room located on the first floor. The room was specially prepared by her, it was soundproof, the window couldn't be opened, there was CCTV at several points of the room and it was next to Leizell's office, so it would be easier for her to keep an eye on Lisa.At that time, Lisa was still unconscious. Those three men laid her down on the king-size bed and left her there alone. Not long after that, Leizell and the adviser entered. They watched Lisa and her big
Scott looked at Leizell questioningly, then asked, “What do you want to do?”"Let's see what I can do later. I suggest you be careful and be nice before I do something you'll regret,” Leizell replied."If you dare touch my wife, I will make sure you will die by my hands!" shouted Scott.“Hahaha try it if you dare. Unfortunately, your strength won't matter here, so it's useless for you to say that,” Leizell replied with a satisfied smile.Scott was silent and looked at Leizell intently, he was thinking hard on how to break free and get out of there. The problem was the big rope that tied his wrists like a spell, Scott couldn't get away from the big rope. If under normal circumstances, then the big rope is not a barrier."Why are you silent? Do you want to give up?” asked Leizell confidently as she touched the corner of the jaws of Scott's face. However, what happened instead was he rebuffed the hand and glared at
