"May I know what was written in the letter, Scott?" asked Mr. James.
Scott closed the letter and replied, “My father died of poison. Someone put poison in his food and that's why he died."
"Do you have a suspect?" James asked.
"Not. I never thought of suspecting anyone, but Fred's father couldn't have done something despicable like this. As far as I know, despite competing with my father, he places great emphasis on honesty and sportsmanship. So, somehow I feel a little confused, this letter confused me. Who had the heart to put poison in my father's food? He's never hurt anyone," Scott replied, looking back at the letter in his hand.
“But the poison was found in Fred's father's study room. How do you explain that?” asked Mr. James.
"I don't know, I'll look into this later. Then, am I still obliged to come to Peter's funeral?"
“After considering it, I decided it wasn't necessary anymore. I will send my assistant to come to the funeral. Now you can go."
Then, Scott got up and said goodbye to Mr. James, then stepped out of the office of the High Court. This time he walked out of the High Court headquarters alone. He walked down a long hallway that was directly connected to the headquarters exit.
Outside, one of Mr. James' private driver was waiting for him and as soon as he saw Scott, he immediately opened the car door and let him in.
“Mr. Scott, please come in. Mr. James asked me to take you home," he said as he stood beside the car door.
“Okay, thanks Axel,” Scott replied as he got into the car.
Not long after that, Axel was sitting in the driver's seat and was starting the car engine while fastening the safety belt. Scott, sitting in the back passenger seat, stared out the side window wondering where to start the investigation. It felt like all roads seemed deadlocked and there were no clues at all.
When he was daydreaming, apparently Axel realized that Scott looked confused. He ventured to ask.
“Sir, is there a problem? I'm sorry I interfered too much," he asked.
Scott, who was originally looking out of the window, then turned his head and looked at Axel, then replied, “Yeah, too many things have happened lately and it all confused me. What should I do?"
"Doing for what, sir?" asked Axel again.
"To investigate the mastermind behind my father's death."
"But, isn't the mastermind Mr. Fred's father?" asked Axel once more.
"That's what confused me. From all sides, it seemed impossible for him to do all that. Since childhood, I have known him well. So when the evidence pointed to him and he went to trial. I really couldn't believe any of that. I wish there was something else that could lead to something that would make him innocent. However, Fred's father had committed suicide in prison and Fred blamed me for his father's death. Our friendship since childhood is finally broken.”
"I'm sorry about that, sir. But, hopefully, there will be a solution to the problem you are facing.”
"Thank you, Axel."
"You're welcome, Sir."
After the conversation, Scott leaned back in his chair and tried to recall the day his father was found dead. At the time, he was in town with Tom and Katie. Moments later, his father's assistant informed him that his father had died while eating his lunch. However, the assistant did not know if his father died from poison until the autopsy evidence from the police came out.
From there, Scott got a glimmer of hope, maybe what he should do is ask again about the actual sequence of events to his father's assistant named Alex.
Happiness was visible on his face. The handsome man hoped that his efforts this time would not end in vain and could bring good results for himself and Fred's father's name if he was not the culprit.
Not long after, the car arrived in front of Scott's house which is nice, although not very big, but looks very cool and peaceful.
"Sir, we have arrived," Axel said as he looked back.
"Thank you, Axel. I'm going down now. Drive carefully,” Scott replied as he got out of the car.
Then, after closing the car door, Axel slowly drove the car back away from Scott's residence.
Not long after, from inside came out Katie and Tom. Tom is a Beta in Scott's Pack, while Katie is an Omega. For Scott, Tom was his best friend and personal assistant whom he greatly admired.
“Scott,” Katie exclaimed as she ran to the handsome man and hugged him. Scott returned the hug as he looked at Tom.
Then Katie let go of her arms and touched the handsome man's cheeks and said, “Sheriff Webb told us everything and asked us to wait for you here. So, sorry we didn't come looking for you or met you at the hospital."
"It does not matter. Oh yeah, are you guys all right?” asked Scott.
Then, Tom came up to him and hugged him while replying, "We're fine, just—"
"Just what?" Scott asked as he let go of his arm and looked into Tom's eyes.
“Many of our friends were killed and also injured. Katie and I have arranged treatment for the injured. However, Fred and his friends did not seem to accept this. I'm worried for the future, I don't know what he will do again, "said Tom.
"You mean revenge?" Scott asked to confirm.
"Yes. We know what Fred's character is like. What's more, I heard Peter died."
"That's right, Mr. James asked me to come to his funeral."
"Then?" Katie asked curiously.
“I refused, but he insisted. Until finally, I received an autopsy letter from the police and Mr. James withdrew his order."
"That easy for him to withdraw his orders?" Katie asked.
"Yes."
"Sounds weird to me," said Tom.
"Guys, can we go inside first, I'm making Scott's favorite fruit pie," Katie said.
When the three of them were about to step into the house, from a distance they saw a car coming towards them and stopped right in front of Scott's house. It turned out to be Sheriff Webb's private car. The middle-aged man got out of the car and walked over to Scott, then stopped right in front of him.
"Good afternoon everyone," said Sheriff Webb.
"Good afternoon Sheriff. Is there anything we can help with?" asked Scott.
“I want to show you a badge. I think this badge looks familiar to me and maybe to you. Alright, do you guys recognize this badge?” Sheriff Webb took out and showed him a circular badge with two crossed swords on it.
To be continued ....
Scott, Tom, and Katie were shocked when they saw the badge. It was Tom's badge which he had always kept in his pocket. And the picture on the badge was the same as the mural plastered in Scott's study room.Sheriff Webb's eyes locked on Scott. The middle-aged man looked at him intently. Then, he asked again, “Mr. Hanson, do you recognize this badge?”"Oh sorry, Sheriff. Y-yes of course I recognize the badge. That badge belongs to Tom and somehow it's in your hands because Tom lost his badge a while ago,” Scott stammered."Sir, are you sure about your explanation?" asked Sheriff Webb disgruntled.Suddenly, Katie remembered that she had to check the food she made. Then she said goodbye to Sheriff Webb.“Umm Sheriff, I'm sorry. I have to go back inside and check my cooking.” Then Katie sprinted into the house and left her two friends behind. Now, only her two other friends and Sheriff Webb were left. Tom could not
"What do you mean by the word "messed up"?" asked Bruce.“There were bruises on her face and her eyes looked puffy. I don't know what happened to her. Hurry up and see her, it looks like she has something to tell you," said Dorothy."Okay, Mom. Then I'll see her now after putting Lisa's things into her room."Then they entered the house. Lisa and Sean sat at the dining table, while Bruce went up to the second floor and put all of Lisa's belongings inside her bedroom. Then, without waiting long, Bruce immediately went back down to the first floor and said goodbye to the mother and his two children, then hurried off to meet someone who was waiting for him at the hotel in the city center. That afternoon, the weather in Stowe was quite chilly, and as he drove carefully, Bruce wished those waiting for him well. Remembering the word bruised Dorothy made him even more anxious.About forty minutes later, Bruce's car arrived in front of a hotel that w
“Scott, looks like he left, or is this his home address?” Tom asked, trying to look through the window."Right. The address is correct. Could it be that he wasn't home? Or has he moved somewhere?” replied Scott."It can be. This house is very quiet, I can't hear anything from inside," said Tom.Katie who felt curious tried to approach the entrance and she pushed the doorknob downwards, the door was opened and unlocked. They were shocked and looked at each other. Then Scott signaled everyone on the count of three they were going inside. The atmosphere in the house was quiet and dark. After the door was opened wide, a very strong stench came out, making Scott and his friends cough while covering their noses. The appearance in the house is chaotic, all things were not in their place, really messy, looks like a house that has been entered by a thief.Scott and his friends split up, trying to search as they kept shouting Bert's name. K
"I think I've seen that tattoo," Katie said."Is it true? Where?" asked Tom and Scott together.“Give me some time to remember it. So, where are we going now?” Katie asked."We're going to Mrs. Jenkins's house," Scott replied."But, Scott, it's getting late. It would be better to continue tomorrow," said Katie."Katie's right, Scott," Tom said."All right, then let's go home now," Scott replied. Then, they left Bert's house. Along the way, not much conversation happened. In the car, Katie kept trying to remember where exactly she had seen the tattoo. Not long after, the girl remembered that she had seen the tattoo at a hot spring event two years ago when several packs who were under the High Court gathered and had fun there. Just as she was walking towards the women's changing room, she coincidentally passed an unused room and heard the voices of a woman and a man.The voice of a woman who was asking about th
"No, thank you. Umm, Lisa," Scott said."Yes? What do you want to say?” Lisa asked curiously.“First, how are your feet? Are you feeling better already? And secondly, I know this is going to sound too soon, but would you mind going out to dinner with me somewhere in town? I know a good restaurant that serves good food if you are willing,” Scott replied, looking at Lisa's face.Lisa smiled and looked at Scott with a happy face. Then, the girl replied, “I have recovered, I can walk and move normally like before. And for the answer to question number two, the answer is I do.”Scott had a surprised look on his face and with a smile, he asked just to make sure, “I'm glad to hear that you're feeling much better. Then, for your willingness to go to dinner with me, did I hear you right?"Lisa laughed and replied, "Yes. I'm willing to go to dinner with you. Then, what is the dress code?”“No need to be
Bert who was chewing the food in his mouth immediately turned around and stopped chewing, he was quite surprised to find a man who was pointing a gun at him. He put down the spoon he was originally holding, then quickly swallowed the food that was still left in his mouth. Then, he raised his hands above his head and asked the man to calm down.“Sorry, I entered your house without your permission. I've tried knocking on your door several times, but there's no answer from inside. But, when I tried to push the doorknob of your house down, it turned out that your door was unlocked and I entered your house. The sweet smell of this apple pie led me into the kitchen. If you don't mind, may I take shelter here temporarily while treating my wound?" Bert replied trying to convince the old man.The old man seemed to be deep in thought, trying to accept Bert's explanation into his logic."Then who are you and where are you from? Where did you get all those woun
"Yeah, that's them," Bert replied.“Then, what should we do now? Are they very strong and dangerous?” asked John."We are forced to fight. And yes, they are very strong and dangerous," Bert replied."I'll load my rifle with silver-based bullets first." Then, John took his rifle, took out the bullet, then he opened the bottom shelf of his kitchen cupboard, opened a box, and loaded his rifle with silver bullets.“John, are you sure you can hit the target?” asked Bert a little worried."You doubt me?" asked John.“It's not like that, it's just that they are very well trained. You must be very careful, we're both at a disadvantage. There seems to be quite a number of them," said Bert."I'm not afraid, Bert. Let's fight them," said John. The old man got up and walked towards the front door of his house, carrying two rifles, each in his left and right hands. Bert followed closely behind.Meanwhile
As it turned out, the mysterious master called one of his assistants and said," Check if everything Vlad said is true?""Yes, Sir," replied Mike who was the mysterious man's assistant. Then, Mike walked towards the basement exit. At that time, without realizing Vlad pointed a knife to his neck, he asked Mike to remain silent, not make a sound and follow him away from there and Mike did as well. Then, they walked out of the mysterious man's residence and rushed into the car. Luckily at that time, Vlad was able to escape from all guards without the slightest suspicion. It was none other than because they had all put great trust in Vlad as their leader and the person that the mysterious man trusted.Without lingering, Vlad immediately drove his car out of the residence of the leader of the High Court. Mike who was sitting next to him could only surrender, watch and wait for what would happen to him.The whole way, Vlad was silent and didn't say anythi
