LOGINMEGAN’S POV
My eyes grew in astonishment as I saw how fierce Austin’s eyes were. Did he actually grab him for badmouthing me? “Don’t you dare speak of her in that manner again.” He roared at him and forcefully let go of the man, who fell on the ground, panting heavily. Anger surged through Kayla’s veins. She glared at me; if the eyes were bullets, I would have been shot dead by hers. “Alpha Austin, what are you doing? Don’t tell me you’re defending that cheating wife of yours? Look at her, can’t you see how she wrapped her arms around the Alpha Prince?” Reluctantly, Austin turned around. He saw how tight Nathan held my hand, and I could see him grit his teeth. Ignoring the commotion, Nathan reached for a glass of champagne from the bodyguard behind him and raised the glass. “To the woman I’ve admired and cherished for years. To Megan, my beloved. Cheers.” “Cheers.” The crowd chorused, raising their glasses in a toast. “No wonder the Alpha Prince is so protective. That lady is definitely the future Alpha Princess.” Whispers filled the air. Each time I heard them, I smiled to myself. Then, I tapped Nathan softly and whispered. “You’re such a good actor, cousin. If I weren't your cousin, I would have believed you.” “Just sit tight and enjoy the show.” He winked at me, and I smiled. With a faint smile, I responded while looking at Austin’s face from afar. “Trust me, the show is getting better with each episode. Nate, I’m exhausted. I’d like to leave now.” With that, he helped me up, and we walked down the event hall, straight to the exit. However, we looked, and we were blocked by Austin, who stood in front of us, staring at me deeply. “So this is your game plan? To be a home wrecker?” He confronted Nathan, and I scoffed in a mixture of disbelief and astonishment. Nathan smiled coldly while buttoning up his suit, with my hands wrapped around his arm. “You want to see a home wrecker? Look in the mirror.” “She’s my wife. We were legally married. This is infidelity.” Alpha Austin snapped. “Wow! Coming from your cheating ass. That’s rich! Did you ever for once acknowledge me as your wife when we were married? You paraded your pregnant mistress around like your Luna, and you call me a cheat? How bold of you, Austin Sinclair. My voice expressed rage and disappointment. He took a deep breath and continued in a mild tone. “Megan, just come home. We will figure this out.” “I have no home with you anymore, ex-husband. This…”. I pointed around and continued. “This is my home now.” I responded with a firm tone. My words infuriated him, and he bit his lip hard. “Why? Because he makes more money than me? Is that it?” “He’s better than you in every possible way.” I smile genuinely at Nate. Then, two bodyguards walked to Nathan and whispered some inaudible words into his ears, and he softly turned to me. “Meg. You’re going to be alone for some time. I’ll be right back. You’re going to be okay alone?” I nodded as he looked, patted my shoulder before turning back to Austin with a mean glance. “You touch her, and you’re a dead man.” With that, Nathan walked away. I took a deep breath and turned to leave, but Austin stopped me. “Does he know you got pregnant for me and even got rid of the baby?” “What baby? The one that has been flushed down a toilet? Oh, this isn’t about a baby; it’s about your political ambitions. But I’m over you now, Alpha Austin. I hope you get over it soon.” I sternly replied, forcing back tears. Just when I was about to leave, he grabbed my wrist, and I turned to look at him. In his once-proud eyes, I saw regret and fear. But what was the fear for? Is he afraid that he would lose me? I don’t think so! “Come back home, Megan.” His pleading voice came, and I froze. Austin could plead? I found that strange. I’ve loved him for so long and married him despite knowing that he doesn’t have any love for me, but in those years, I never saw him plead. In fact, every night I literally plead for him to sleep by my side, and during dinner, I would plead for him to eat at the same table with me. I shook my head with a smile filled with pain. “No, Austin. I have no home with you…” My voice was calm but definite. Instantly, someone pulled his hand away from his grip on mine. Kayla’s eyes gleamed with envy. “Austin, you don’t have to kiss up to her. Trust me, I will become good friends with the Moon Heiress, and I’ll get you the endorsement with ease. Then, we can get married like you’ve always wanted and have as many pups as you like.” Alpha Austin gulped hard nervously, trying to speak, but I didn’t let him. “I see you’re not short of a fiancée or a child. Now, if you’d excuse me, I have other things to take care of.” With that, I stormed off, and Austin glared furiously at Kayla. “What was that for? Don’t you ever discuss my pup or anything that has to do with Megan and me.” He warned sternly and walked away. I walked into the room and slammed the door behind me with a loud sigh. What’s the point of feeling disappointed? I should be used to this already. I was about to gulp down the glass of water on the table when my eyes caught a torn paper. Reluctantly, I picked it up to realize that it was an endorsement letter from the Crescent Moon Pack. “What the hell happened?” I asked no one, but unexpectedly got an answer from behind. “Nothing happened. That’s precisely where it belongs.” That was my father’s voice. I turned and saw him standing behind me. He took the paper from me, rumpled it, threw it on the floor, and stomped on it. “Dad, this is my battle to fight.” “The Royals live by one law, my dear. An eye for an eye. He hurt my little princess. That arrogant werewolf will pay tenfold.” My father replied with his voice and expression as cold as ice.MEGAN'S POV I held onto my head as I felt my eyes closing. My vision was blurry. “What did you do to me?”He cackled mischievously and sat down with his legs crossed. “Drink wasn't the only surprise tonight. Of course, I know you would find out that the drink was drugged.” Then, he pointed at the incense burner on the table, and I breathed heavily, trying hard to keep my eyes open. “That…. I already took the antidote, so it won't affect me or anyone in this room except you, Miss Prescott.” He laughed maliciously. “You're…. You're evil and don't deserve to live.” I managed to speak because I was almost losing my voice. He roared with laughter like I had just given him a compliment. “There's no need to act tough, Miss Prescott. Don't worry, I'll go gentle with you. Look at you now.” He snapped his finger, and everyone in the room left instantly. In the twinkle of an eye, the room became empty. Bending closer to me, he ran his fingers all over my body. “You look like a helpless litt
MEGAN'S POV I sat on the chair facing the desktop on the table, lost in thought and staring blankly at the screen of the computer. Then came a faint knock on the door of my office. I didn't even realize that the door of the office was swung open until Claire tapped the table and I blinked hard, turning to her. “Y… Yes?”“Miss Prescott, are you okay? You look lost, and that's bad for work.” She chipped in. I forced a smile. “It's nothing. How may I help you?” “Oh, you don't need to help me because you'll be needing a lot of that help for yourself.” She jokingly snapped. “I mean, as the project manager, you'll have to meet with Mr. Davison. He's quite a difficult man to please. You'll need him to sign, and then we can proceed with the other facilities.” She tried to sound caring, but in the real sense, it felt like she was mocking me.“Mr. Davison?” I mouthed with my eyes rolling. “Get me an appointment with him.” I readily replied, and she smiled mischievously.Picking up the files
AUSTIN'S POVI walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.” Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag. The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around
ALICE'S POV I drove into the mall and parked the car in the garage. Kayla and I walked into the mall laughing and chatting. However, our laughter was cut short the moment we sighted Megan shopping in the clothes section. Kayla scoffed in disgust as she cleared her throat noisily to get Megan's attention. Megan turned slightly with her face indifferent. “Oh, look who we have here. I wonder how many times you had to spread your legs to be able to afford that.” She pointed at the dress Megan was holding. Ignoring her, Megan rolled her eyes and proceeded to take out another dress from the display shelf. Furious, Kayla grabbed her arm rudely. “Hey. I'm talking to you.” “She thinks she can buy a discount dress at a luxury store.” I taunted, staring hatefully at her. Kayla and I laughed loudly. “And pretend to be a socialite.” I added.Kayla shook her head in a feign of pity. “You know what? It's actually kind of sad. You can put lipstick on a pig, but that doesn't stop it from being a p
MEGAN'S POV My words seemed to throw Austin off balance. He stared at me, blinking rapidly. I could almost hear his heart beating fast. “What do you say, Alpha Austin Sinclair? I thought you wanted to save your little dream girl? I don't have all the time in the world.”“No, absolutely not.” He finally blurted out, to my surprise. My eyes widened in astonishment. “What?” I snapped at him.He shook his head." I said, No. I cannot give up my position in the Wolf's Joint Empire."“Then, we have absolutely nothing to talk about, Mr. Sinclair.”I turned to leave, but Kayla's voice made me turn around. She ran straight to Austin, shedding her usual false tears—nothing new.“Austin, your ex-wife is so cold-hearted. You know how important this eatery is to me, don't you? Just because she's whoring herself to the Alpha Prince, she has succeeded in getting me thrown out of here.” Kayla sniffed pretentiously. I shook my head in disgust. A drama queen will always be a drama queen. Kayla sharply
MEGAN'S POVLucien and I were seated at a fancy restaurant with the piping hot delicacies served in front of us. I sipped the cocktail slowly as he started. “How is your new job treating you? You know you could have just started as the MD?” “I don't want that yet, Lucien. I just started, and I hope it gets better.” I simply uttered, spooning the creamy pasta into my mouth. After a few seconds of silence, with a worried voice, Lucien added. “How are you coping with your ex-husband?”I choked. My gaze went from the plate to Lucien. “He's working as a partner of the company. Of course, I'm there to do my job, which is precisely what I've been doing.”“Megan, if you can't cope with him around you, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll do anything and everything to buy the shares back from him and…” Lucien was determined, but I interrupted him softly. “You don't have to. Austin and I are divorced. Whatever we had was in the past. Now, we're just co-workers or partners in a business place. That
