I never thought I would be firing a useful asset to my company just because of his son's carelessness, but here we are. I sat on the white couch in my office as father and son stood in front of me. Ethan’s nose was bandaged. It looks terrible. Good. “Mr. Moretti, my son, already apologized. If needed, he would give a formal apology to her” Jackson said. He has been trying to persuade me to forgive his son since he came into my office this morning. I asked him to meet with me not to bring his shìt head of a son, his disgusting face ruined my already bad day. “Why would I apologize to her? I won't” Ethan spoke adamantly behind his father, who glared at him hard. It seems he hasn't grasped the weight of the situation. “I just got another reason to fire you,” I said calmly. “Such useless son you've raised” I added, and sweat broke on Jackson's forehead. “There's no need to go that far, I would make sure he apologises” Jackson quickly replied. Ethan made an unpleasant face at the idea of apologizing to Lana. “You don't fully understand the situation, do you?” I said, looking at Ethan. “Why do I need to apologize to her, go ahead and fire my father, you think your company is the only one in this country” Ethan retorted. “I was only trying to help you see her true colors, and you punched me-” Jackson smacked his son on his head before he could finish his words. “You should be apologizing. What are you saying?” Jackson yelled. “If your father gets fired, he would never find another job, I would definitely make sure of it” I said coldly. “She's not worth it-” “Ethan!” Jackson yelled. “She is definitely worth it” I replied calmly. “Go to HR and submit your resignation letter” I turned to Jackson, and the man fell to the floor. “Please… forgive my son,” Jackson started. “You should know this is useless, I never retract my words. This is your punishment for raising such a son, Leave my office” I stood up and walked towards my desk. Jackson stood up with a sigh and walked out of my office with Ethan. Sensible man, too bad he raised someone like that. I would have done more than just fire his father, but I have a feeling Lana would not welcome that idea. Her reaction last night was etched in my memory. Can't she get over him already? My phone pinged, and I picked it up to see a message from Ryan. I immediately picked up my coat and walked out of my office. - “What happened?” I asked immediately. I walked closer to Ryan and some of my other men. “We found him like this,” Ryan said, pointing at the body on the floor. Derek, the guy I asked to investigate the venoms. He had different stab wounds on his stomach. “Right here?” I asked. “Yes,” Ryan sighed. I looked around the forest. This is too close to the base, just a few more steps, and it would be within our camera range. Is this to tell us they know where the base is? How much did Simon leak before I put a bullet through his skull? “Take the body” I said, and they took the body, walking away. “What should we do?” Ryan asked. “This is getting troublesome, Find someone else to do the job” I said, and Ryan nodded. “Should we tell Grandpa?" He asked “he would lecture us about how careless we are, don't say anything to him” I replied and walked back towards my car. Ryan followed behind me. “I heard you went on a date yesterday” “How did you get that information?” I asked. “I own the restaurant, of course I know. Do you know how hard it was to contain this information? It would have hit the tabloids already” Ryan answered. “Thank you for reminding me to give a bad review,” I said and got into my car. “Heyy, that wasn’t my fault” Ryan complained, but I ignored him. "I also found out something interesting," Ryan added, and I frowned. "What is it?" I asked curiously. "Beatrice told me he tried to force himself on her," Ryan said, and my grip tightened on the steering wheel. it seems holding myself from completely destroying him isn't enough, even if Lana would not welcome the idea. "You're on speaking terms with Beatrice?" I asked. "That's not the issue right now," Ryan dismissed. "I didn't know Lana was this traumatized. You should do something to make her happy. Then maybe she would fall for your unromantic heart," Ryan added, and I glared at him. "I don't need your help," I replied and started the car engine. “Of course you do. If you really want to win her over after such a traumatizing relationship, then you need to try hard. I have an idea.” Ryan smiled. “Don't do anything,” I said with a frown. I have never liked Ryan's “ideas” “You'll thank me, don't worry,” he chuckled. I already know this is going to be a disaster.LanaI turned and I met Karl, standing not too far from me. “I told you to wait in the car," I walked towards him.“And you expect me to?” Karl asked.“Isn't that why instructions are given?” I snapped.“He is lying,” Karl said, and I blinked. There's no way Karl heard our conversation except... he has super human hearing, which is next to impossible.Right?“Did you hear our conversation?” I asked, just to be sure he doesn't have super hearing.“No, but I can read lips and people's actions too. He looks too calm, and that is not good,” Karl replied, walking towards the car, and I followed behind him."You're also too calm," I retorted."Why are you so inclined on defending him?" Karl questioned, I could tell he is losing his cool a little.Wait... Is he jealous? Definitely not!“How do you know he is lying? he looks genuine to me, though. I may not know Cole that well, but he doesn't give off that kind of vibe,” I said as we got to Karl's car.“Love, if you keep relying on vibe, you
Lana “I don't think it's a good idea for you to meet him especially since he might be one of the one who led to your kidnapping,” Beatrice tried to talk me out of going to meet Cole. I waited for Jenna this morning after I was done with my shift and asked her to help get through to Cole so I could talk to him, I tried calling him using my phone, but it always went to voice mail. I told him to meet with me this afternoon, and he readily agreed, which was weird, because why wouldn't he take my call? I didn't tell him why I wanted to see him or anything concerning my kidnapping just to be on a safer side. “I have to meet with him myself to know what's going on,” I said, and Beatrice pressed her lips together. “Why don't you let Karl handle it?” She asked, and I paused. I definitely can't let Karl handle things because this is way deeper than my kidnapping. It's about my mother. I could still remember the disappointment on Karl's face when I demanded to come back home immediately
Karl Lana looked like she didn't know what to say. What did those bastards tell her?I have always been worried about this exact thing, I have been afraid of drawing her into my world because it's not a place for someone like her.I didn't expect my fears to haunt me so fast, I can still remember how fucking scared I was when Ryan told me she was missing.I was already drawing up a list of possible suspects in my head but none of them fit. When I realized that, I got even more scared because I don't know the enemy or how to find Lana.I was more than glad to know there were cameras on the streets where her apartment building is located. It wasn't hard to find the car they took her in.“Lana” I heard Beatrice call, and then my bedroom door pushed open.Beatrice ran to her sister and engulfed her in a tight hug while I stood up from the bed, my eyes falling on Ryan.“I was so scared,” Beatrice says.“You're suffocating me” Lana taps her sister lightly.“Sorry,” Beatrice pulled away.“
Lana I force my eyes open. My head throbbed badly as I tried to keep my eyes open. “Awake?” I heard a deep voice. I tried to move, but my hands were restricted, tied behind the chair I didn't know I was sitting on. My legs were also tied to the same chair, I raised my head up to meet a pair of black eyes. “What do you want?” I bit out, my throat was tight, and my heart drummed uncontrollably in my chest. I have been kidnapped. “Calm down pretty, we are just getting started,” the man chuckled, and fear blew up in me. Nothing about his expression said anything good. “Who are you? Who sent you to me?” I asked again, desperate for answers. “Patiences, I was asked to scare you a little but don't worry, you'd be free after we get what we want,” The man raised my head with his fingers and I turn my head away making him chuckle. “sit tight,” he smiled and walked out of the small room. I looked around me, the room was empty, the light bulb was turned on, it's basically the only thin
LanaWhy is he here?He shouldn’t be here right now.My eyes met with Karl's empty ones, and i pressed my lips together.Stella stood beside me, and Karl's eyes went to her.“Didn't you hear what I said?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased.Stella couldn't move. I could feel her visibly stiffened beside me. It seems all her confidence obliterated. Her feet left the floor slowly, and she walked out of the kitchen.“Come with me,” Karl said to me and left. This isn't right, I don't like this, Karl's presence only made the situation worse. He only confirmed how right Stella was, and that made my blood boil.He shouldn't have come here and fired Stella.I followed Karl into Roman’s office. The elevator ride was long as hell.“Why are you here?” I asked again.“That chef posted a picture of the both of us in the staff group, Roman saw it and told me about it, aren't you in the group?” He asked, and I blinked. No one was nice enough to tell me there was a staff group.“No, Stella show
LanaI was at work this morning when I saw the news, something didn't feel right about it.Ethan and Hannah’s marriage has been buzzing on social media for a very long time, and now they are calling it off.Hannah’s parents said they don't think they were a good match, though nothing has been heard from Ethan’s family. I believe the engagement has officially sunk.My phone pinged. “This is definitely what we call karma” Beatrice sent me a photo, I thought it was the failed engagement news, but I was wrong.Ethan’s family has completely been bankrupt. It even said they were going to sell their mansion.Damn.Sell their mansion? I remember when I always thought of what to wear when Ethan finally introduced me to his parents. I even kept some cash aside to buy a really expensive dress that would fit his family's wealth.“Isn't this too suspicious to be karma?” I texted Beatrice.“I doesn't matter, sis, it's still karma” I read Beatrice’s message and signed. This is definitely suspicio
