Chapter Sixty Eight

Before he could know what was happening, all his other subordinates had been taken down. And a gun was pointed at his head. "If you move, you die!!" He heard a voice behind him.

The voice shocked him to the bone. He wasn't expecting anybody to come and save Christopher because he was so sure that Christopher wasn't with anybody to protect him. "Bros!! This matter does not concern you. Why don't you just look the other way and go?" He tried to bargain.

"It seems you are a little bit confused." The person pointing the gun at him said. Another person came to him and collected the gun Stone was holding.

Christopher who had not said a word after his people got there moved closer to Stone and gave him a resounding slap. "JESUS CHRIST!!!" Stone exclaimed. "You put iron for your hand?" He asked as he tried to touch his face.

"I will ask you one question and how you answer will determine what I will do to you.!" Christopher said without any emotion.

"Do you think I am scared of you? I have been paid to take your life and I will do everything possible to accomplish that mission!" Stone said with a bit of malice.

"I like your spirit! In case you haven't noticed, look around you. There is no way you are getting out of here alive. Unless you cooperate!" Christopher said.

It was at that moment that he looked around and discovered that aside from himself, everybody there was not among the people that he came with. "What have you done to my boys!!" Stone shouted.

"Those area boys have been taken to where they will be dealt with. If you are not careful, you will join them soon." Christopher said with a chilling smile.

"What did you do to them!? Please, don't kill them." Stone pleaded.

"You will answer my question right now and maybe by then, I might decide to spare their lives," Christopher said. "Now, who sent you?" He asked.

"I can't answer that question. I have been paid for your life and more money awaits me if the job is done. Even if you kill me now, I won't tell you the name of the person who paid for your life!" Stone said.

"That's fine by me. I just gave you a chance and you misused it. I know who sent you and I know that you were paid two million in cash on Saturday!! I was only trying to follow procedures!..." Christopher said with a smirk. " when I finish with you, In your next life, you will never want to be involved in such a thing." Christopher said and tapped his cheeks.

The shock of what Christopher said had paralyzed Stone. In his mind he was asking himself questions such as, how did Christopher know that he was paid on Saturday? Doesn't that mean he was being watched? He wanted to talk but nothing came out of his mouth. He could only look at Christopher with fear at that moment. He thought he could hide information and then buy time for himself. If Christopher already knows that he was paid money then, he obviously knows who paid him.

"Take him away!! I have a family to meet at home!" Christopher said and got his car then, zoomed off. Stone tried to make a run for it but, they didn't even give him the opportunity. They also dragged him into one of the cars left behind and drove off.

When John got met Rose and Christopher at the roundabout, Rose was reluctant to leave but she knew she couldn't stay. She knew that the only way to make things easier was to make the people following then believe that they have them cornered. "Take care of yourself and come home as fast as possible.!" Rose said as John helped her to open the door.

The back door was also opened and Princess was carried out. She was surprised by the sudden change of ride so she had to ask. "Why are we leaving dad?" She asked as she was helped into the Car that John came with.

Rose entered the car as fast as possible and John drove away as fast as possible. "Your father has some important things to attend to. He will meet us at home." Rose answered Princess as calmly as she could but her heart was in turmoil.

"Is he going back to work?" Princess asked again.

"No, he just needs to do something that is very important. He will never be with us at the house.!" Rose answered.

Princess could see that her mother looked worried but she just decided to let it go because she noticed that Ross didn't want to talk about it. "Okay," she answered and continued to play with the phone that Rose gave to her. She pretended to be listening to something but, she was actually watching her mother secretly.

Rose thought that she had convinced Princess so, she asked John in a very low voice. "Do you think he will be ok?"

"Don't worry madam! If there is anybody who will get hurt, it won't be the boss. I trust in his judgment and plans. They have never failed.!!" John answered her.

With that answer, Rose was a little bit calm but, she was still worried. When they got to the house, she helped Princess out of the car and they walked into the house together. When they entered. Mrs. Rita was waiting for them with a bright smile on her face. "Welcome back!!"

"Grandma!!" Princess called and ran to give her a hug. "I missed you." She said as she pulled out of the hug.

"I missed my angel more! This house was so empty!" Mrs. Rita said and tapped Princess's nose.

"Good evening Mrs. Rita!" Rose who had just gotten to them greeted.

"Good evening dear, you look worried. Is there a problem?" She asked Rose.

"No, everything is fine! How are you?" Rose answered while looking at a Princess.

Mrs. Rita saw her glancing at Princess and felt that Rose didn't want Princess to hear of what she wanted to say so, she said to Princess. "Uhm, Princess, Why don't you go up and freshen up?"

"Ok, I'll be back In a moment. I am very hungry!" Princess said.

"Just go and freshen up. When you are done, come and meet me in the kitchen..." Mrs. Rita said to Princess. After Princess had gone up the stairs, she turned Princess in the direction of the kitchen and asked. "What Is wrong? You look worried."

"We were followed by some people on our way back and Christopher had to send me and Princess home first.!" Rose explained.

"Is that why you are like this?" Mrs. Rita asked.

"Is it not enough? I know he will be fine but I just can't help being worried." Rose said.

"That's the power of love my dear... That's the power of love! Now that you can feel all these, value them. Respect it and cherish it." Mrs. Rita said with a sad smile.

"Thank you, Mrs. Rita. Can you help me to call him?" Rose asked.

"Sure, but why don't you call him yourself?" Mrs. Rita asked.

"I wanted to but then, I realized that I don't have his number," Rose answered.

"What!? You don't have your husband's number?" Mrs. Rita asked with shock written all over her face.

"Don't look at me like that, it's just that it never occurred to me that I will need it. Please, can you give him a call for me? Or better still, can you help me with his number?" Rose asked.

"I can't help you with any of the two things you asked for. When he gets back, you guys should exchange numbers in case of emergencies like this!!" Mrs. Rita said. "Anyways, go and freshen up. I saw what you and your husband did to Cindy and it was WOW!!" Mrs. Rita said.

"She pushed me. I had no intention of appearing before the media for a long time but, when she brought her bad luck into the mall, I couldn't take it. That girl irritates me! How can the daughter of a whole vice president be that stupid and desperate?" Rose said angrily.

"Some people are born stupid and they still decide not to learn. Don't worry, we have time to talk. Go and freshen up." Mrs. Rita said.

"Okay," Rose said and was about to walk away when Princess came running down the stairs.

"Daddy wants to talk to you, mom." She said as she gave the phone to Rose.

Ross was surprised that Christopher would call her. She collected the phone and looked at the screen. What she saw was 'heartbeat' she was very surprised because she doesn't remember taking down his number talk more of saving it.
