The girl behind Daniella adjusted herself immediately.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, turning her face around to make sure she didn’t embarrass herself in front of the other girls.
“Sorry? Really?” another voice scoffed from behind
“You think he picks weak girls? You’re not even going to stand a chance” the lady standing beside Daniella muttered under her breath.
“As if any of us would be picked?” A tall slim girl whispered
The room went silent. It was true Christian Harper had never lived with any woman not even as a house help, he was so tight, mysterious and extremely secretive.
He’d prefer his male business partners over having any females around, he was already 32 and not ready to settle and get married to any woman, something about him hated the opposite gender with passion, and for some reason this got his mother worried.
She had tried several times to hook him up on a blind date but for some reasons the only thing that mattered to Benson was his wealth and his business.
So right now she’s using a different tactic to get him to get married, by getting him a house help even though he had tons of male cleaners she just wanted to see a woman in the house.
Angella on the other hand met Christian at a get together party a few months ago and for some reason she found him not only attractive but surprisingly sweet, for a man who literally had no social life and would always frown at the sight of a woman.
She literally became so obsessed and somehow found her way into his home and finally getting to meet his mother, but it was obvious Christian had no interest in her so she automatically became a pest always following his mother around trying to win the heart of a man who had never shown concern to a woman.
Daniella on the other hand stood on the extreme end of the room, her eyes sharp scrawling through the other girls as she watched them bragged on how they would win the heart of Christian, she smiled softly, her mouth shut.
The other girls were trying too hard dressed sexually, tight dresses, glossed lips, cleavage on display.
Every single one of them dressed like they were here to be married and not to get a job.
Daniella's eyes lingered around the room, she was studying it.
The light was dim casting a deep red hue across the walls, the kind of lighting that felt controlling, the marble floors were polished to perfection reflecting everything like a mirror. Even the air felt expensive.
The house seemed a bit off, Daniella knew she didn’t come from wealth but then she had visited some wealthy buildings but this was different, not the guards positioning at the extreme end and standing molded statue or the camera’s carefully hidden where careless eyes couldn’t notice.
Everything about this place screamed power and gave a mysterious vibe.
And Daniella noticed it all, because unlike the others she was here on a mission.
The door flung open, every conversation died instantly.
A woman in her early 20s walked in, her heels clicking against the marble floors with complete precision.
Her eyes scanned the room sharp and unimpressed, taking notice of every lady standing in front of her, the perfume she wore suffocating the room but no one dared to make a sound.
“So this is what you all chose to wear?” Her voice grew angrily
“You’re invited to work as cleaners not to present yourselves as prostitute to my boyfriend”
The room burst into confusion, everywhere silent as a grave yard but the confusion in their eyes went unnoticed
Just by looking at their eyes you could read their hearts. Since when did Christian Harper keep girlfriends? Danielle stayed fixed on the young lady, her eyes without emotions. She was too calm.
Before she could mention another word the door flinged open again and just then she walked in. She needed no introduction, Christian’s mother didn’t need to raise her voice to command attention.
“Stand properly,” she said, her voice calm but firm, the girls stood in straight lines.
She walked through them slowly, observing each girl with a level of scrutiny that made it clear she was missing nothing. She lifted the First Ladies chin, turned her around slapped her eyes
“Hmm… too hard” she was plain
She moved to the second one tore her top open squeezed her nipples, the girl’s eyes tweaked as she let out a little moan.
She glared at her and moved over to the third lady. She pushed her hands up, smelt her pit hole, rolled her eyes and now it was time for Daniella she walked up to her and gashed her teeth.
She pressed her face close to hers and her mouth to her ears she whispered “hope you know you’d never cut the match” her voice thick and serious
Daniella said nothing, her eyes fixed into thin air and just then the door tore open
“‘Mom?” A thick strong voice extremely controlling and would definitely turn everyone on
Christian Harper! He walked into the room unannounced, scanned the girls and then turned back to his mother as if the girls being there had nothing to do with him, In fact they felt like they didn’t exist.
“Mom I would be leaving for the business deal I would be home late” he softly spoke and made an attempt to walk away
“Christain?” His mother called shocked at his ignorant behavior
“Yes mom?” He turned pretending not to notice what was right in front of him
“This!” His mother signaled him
“We’ve done this before,” he said, glancing at his mother. “You already know I won’t pick any of them.”
He turned slightly clearly ready to leave again
And then he paused and it felt like he had seen wrongly.
His brain caught something, he was sure of it.
He turned back and looked at the girls, his gaze landing on Daniella.
She wasn’t trying, she wasn’t competing, the aura from her felt different, she wasn’t even looking at him and this drove him to curiosity.
Everyone looked at his confused and surprised face, they followed his gaze and yes it was on Daniella.
Even the lady from earlier was silently watching him.
Christian stepped close to her, his presence felt heavier but Daniella didn’t flinch. He looked at her trying to figure something out
“How did she…..”
“I knew you’d never make the cut” Angella the woman who walked in earlier snapped
“You!” His voice brought the room back to its quiet state
“I will take her” for a moment everyone gazed at each other
The decision was too sudden, how? What?
Daniella stood calm, not surprised like she had anticipated this moment all along, his mother nodded her head without question.
Christain walked out
“Who are you?” Angella rushed to Daniella grabbing her by the collar but as usual she stayed calculated and quite
“If you ever go close to my man I will behead you” she was stern, raw and angry.
The black SUV tore through the rain-slicked streets, headlights cutting through the darkness like knives. Christian gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles, eyes darting between the road and the rearview mirror. Daniella sat in the passenger seat, the leather folder clutched tightly in her lap the files from the vault, the undeniable proof that Elias Voss had ordered her father’s murder thirteen years ago. The truth she had chased for so long was finally in her hands, but it came with a price she never expected.“Are they behind us?” she asked, voice tight.Christian checked the mirrors again. “Not yet. But they will be. Julian and Angela aren’t working alone. The Shadow Council has eyes everywhere.”The old headquarters faded in the distance, its steel shutters still descending as alarms blared. They had barely escaped the gunfire. Julian’s cold smile and Angela’s mocking laugh echoed in Daniella’s mind. The betrayal stung deeper than she wanted to admit. Julian
Daniella barely slept that night. The USB drive from Julian burned in her mind like a live wire. The files it contained had shattered everything she thought she knew. The real killer of her father wasn’t Christian. It was someone tied to The Shadow Council the same group now trying to destroy him. The documents pointed to a man named Elias Voss, a former business partner of Christian’s father, who had orchestrated the heart-harvesting operation thirteen years ago to eliminate a threat. She slipped out of bed before dawn, Christian still sleeping peacefully beside her. In the quiet of her private study, she reviewed the files again. Photos. Contracts. A grainy video of her father arguing with Elias Voss the night before his death. The proof was overwhelming.By the time Christian woke, she had already made her decision.“I need to show you something,” she said over breakfast, sliding the USB drive across the table.Christian raised an eyebrow but plugged it into his
The rooftop garden of Harper Global shimmered under soft string lights as Daniella stepped out into the cool night air. The city sprawled below like a living map of power and secrets. Julian waited near the glass railing, two glasses of wine in hand, but this time there was no smug smile only a serious, almost urgent look in his eyes.“You’re playing a dangerous game coming here,” he said, handing her a glass. “But I think you already know that.”Daniella didn’t drink. “You said you had proof. Show me.”Julian pulled out a sleek black USB drive. “This isn’t just about Sophia. The pregnancy lie is a distraction. The real threat is something much older a hidden vault in the company’s original headquarters. Christian’s father locked away documents that could destroy the entire Harper empire… or save it. The Shadow Council has been searching for the key for years. I think I found it.”Daniella’s breath caught. “What kind of documents?”“Proof of the real killer of
The press conference room at Harper Global was packed. Cameras flashed relentlessly as Christian stood at the podium, Daniella by his side. The air was thick with tension, reporters shouting questions from every direction.“Mr. Harper, is the child yours?”“Will you take a public DNA test?”“Is your relationship with Ms. Cruz over because of this scandal?”Christian raised a hand, his voice calm but commanding. “The pregnancy claim is false. I have never been romantically or physically involved with Sophia Laurent. Independent tests are being conducted as we speak. We will release the results when they are available. In the meantime, I ask for patience and respect for my privacy.”Daniella stood tall beside him, the perfect image of support. Inside, she was a storm. The money transfer to her uncle had gone through four million this time, siphoned through a series of shell accounts she had carefully hidden. The amounts were growing. The risks were mounting. And e
The gentle announcement from the pilot echoed through the first-class cabin, informing passengers that they would be landing in Paris shortly. Most people had already begun adjusting their seats and gathering their belongings, but Daniella remained completely unaware of any of it. Curled comfortabl
The following morning, Daniella woke before sunrise. For the first time in days, she actually felt excited about something. The thought of leaving the city, even if it was only for a business trip, felt strangely refreshing. After taking a quick shower, she stood in front of her wardrobe for severa
The moment Daniella ended the call, her entire expression changed instantly. The softness disappeared. The tension returned. Slowly, she slipped her phone back into her purse before taking a deep breath and walking back into the ballroom like nothing had happened.
Daniella froze completely after hearing the man’s words. For a few seconds, she simply stared at him like her brain had stopped functioning properly. Her breathing slowly became uneven while her fingers tightened against the ropes tied around her wrists. The room suddenly felt too small. Too cold
