Chapter 166

Hunter lands on the creature and it skids across the court yard before coming to a stop a few feet away from the hellfire, we grip it at the back of the throat and it cries out in pain, the guard shift and begin attacking as the creature is trying to shake Hunter off, it bucks but Hunter tightens his grip on it. 

The creature cries out in agony and one more comes running, this one is bigger and it locks in on us and charges towards us “Your majesty! Get off! You’d get hurt!” as the other creature closes in, just before it makes impact, I leap from the one I’m holding and they both go tumbling and the guards rush and give them the final push down into the hell fire. 

The fire blazes a bit brighter then goes back to it’s original form “is everyone alright?” after doing a head count and confirm we are all accounted for we know that no one was killed, though we have no idea where the creatures came from as they certainly did not breach our borders so it would seem as though it came from somewhere within. 

“We need to tell patrol to do a sweep in their various locations, to try and look for any abnormalities or possible passage way that they may have used for entering the castle grounds” “yes sir” they head out and I take a look at myself, “right, time for another shower” 

After my shower, my food has gone cold and I’ve lost my appetite in any case, I just discard the rest of it and have some juice then head to bed after casting a look around from my balcony checking the treelines for any other creatures, I really can not afford to lose any other pack members. 

Lord Umi 

It’s incredible to see that I have been out in the world for Three days and have not been able to find a single pure soul, has the world become so corrupt, I have checked in and Simon has told me about the attacks from wandering creatures in the Royal City, everything has gone to shit so I’m returning to the dimension and preparing for our invasion, Tacamorga has returned with the last of his troops and the captives for our army.

“Welcome, my lord were you able to meet with the lord of the underworld?”

“No I was not able to find a single soul to catch and offer to the Minx so I could have an audience, we will have to go ahead with he attack with things as they are, we will work with things as they are now, plus with the creatures escaping from the fire, their focus would be on that area, we can use that opportunity to breach the border and advance, if we go from the centre where the fire is it’d be a death sentence”

“I have a better idea”

“No one asked you, why are you even here Cass 2.0?”

“Let me lead an invasion into the centre of the Royal City as a distraction, while they’re focused on us there you can advance from outside the border, would that not work? The element of surprise?”

“You do realize you could very well die if you do things that way right?”

“I will not die so easily I assure you, but there is something I’d like in exchange for putting myself on the forefront like that”

“You’re the one making the offer to go to the forefront and now asking for something in exchange, are you truly alright?”

She chuckles “it is a simple task, you simply need to help me gather the rest of my shattered soul, I fragmented myself in order to escape and I assure you it has taken me many, many years to be able to do it, I need to get myself back whole and from then I will release this body and retake my true form and leave, I have a score to settle”

“With whom?”

“That is not for you to worry, as it is of no consequence to you, I have gotten a second chance and this time I will not die! Not before I get my revenge!”

Simon simply stares at her then looks over at me “oh come on Simon, what do you have to lose? You will get back the body and soul of your beloved as she was before, without my presence, you just gotta help me get the rest of me back”

“And where is it that you’ve been imprisoned?”

“We will worry about that after we secure our victory in the outer world”

Just the fact that she’s refusing to say where she’s been imprisoned it means she’s been sealed and it’s going to be a very difficult, if not impossible task to get the rest of her soul free, I am not willing to take such a risk at making this promise to her and I can’t kill her because Cass will be the one to die along with her.
