SILVER’S KISS

‎"Hey, there's a wolf there!"

‎"Kill it quickly!"

‎The voices of the hunters jump-started my heart.

‎I felt so tired and exhausted, but adrenaline pumped through my veins.

‎I found the strength to get up again because I feared for my life.

‎They already had my tracks, so I knew I needed to run.

‎The best thing would be to shift and make a run for it.

‎Unfortunately, I doubted that I had enough energy to run talk less of shifting. The wolfsbane in my blood was doing a number on me now.

‎A poison like that shouldn't have even been available in the pack, but they somehow came by it.

‎A loud shot resonated through the forest and the tree behind my head splintered.

‎I bent quickly and began jogging away. It was the best I could manage.

‎The shots continued.

‎They took me back to a time in my past when I didn't know what guns were.

‎The hunters had invaded our pack. Their numbers were barely thirty, but they did a great amount of damage with their cursed silver weapons.

‎They had killed my mother that night and injured my father. But the loss of my mother had been the mortal wound to him that weakened his heart and eventually took his life years later.

‎Humans had never shown such aggression before and all the packs dismissed them as a weak race. That was until they took up weapons of silver and trained their hunters. Now the wolves were the weak race with threats of extinction.

‎A shot impacted my shoulder and I fell to the forest floor.

‎"Argh!" I screamed.

‎The silver bullet burned my shoulder from the inside out.

‎I felt it sap what little energy I had left.

‎I struggled to my knees with tears in my eyes.

‎I had thought of escape, but now I was in the hands of hunters.

‎Was this how I was going to die? In the hands of the despicable race that had destroyed my family?

‎‎The memory of Adriel telling me that my father’s bloodline shouldn’t end flashed through my mind.

‎No. I couldn't go out like this.

‎I wouldn't break my father's last wish that our bloodline should continue.

‎I managed to get up.

‎"I see the wolf!" A voice called from behind me. It was close. Very close.

‎I grunted. I began to run.

‎I had no idea where the strength came from, but I took advantage of it.‎

‎"Stop her!"

‎"I'm out of bullets!"

‎"Use the arrows!"

‎I heard an arrow fly past my head, missing it by an inch.

‎I gritted my teeth and increased my speed.

‎Pain radiated from my shoulder and washed over my entire body. The wound bled profusely.

‎The silver prevented the wound from healing, and it would bleed me out in under an hour unless I somehow removed the bullet.

‎My vision blurred as I focused on one step at a time.

‎"Stop!"

‎My muddled mind wondered about what the hunter said. Did he really expect me to stop just because he said so?

‎Then I took the next step, but there was no ground under my feet.

‎My body lurched down as gravity pulled me.

‎I fell down the cliff and rolled.

‎The brushes and brambles cut my skin as I rolled down the hill.

‎I landed hard on the ground and heard a loud crack.

‎It sounded like my shoulder was broken.

‎I tasted blood in my mouth.

‎I knew I was spent. I would just lay down and die. The hunters would find my body in the morning.

‎Then I heard footsteps approaching.

‎I immediately knew that somehow the hunters had found me.

‎They would kill me just like they killed my mother so many years ago.

‎I felt so weak. There was nothing more I could do.

‎The footsteps stopped in front of me.

‎I felt arms grab my shoulder and prop me up.

‎My head lolled down, but the hands grabbed my chin and raised my head.

‎Wolves had night vision. But I felt light-headed and my vision was already blurry.

‎But the full moon was out and still I saw his face clearly.

‎His hair was red like fire that burned in the night. And his eyes were blue like the sky.

He wore an overcoat and black leather gloves. There was a scabbard on his left hip and a holster on his right. Holding a gun and a sword.

‎He was a hunter.

‎I tried to open my mouth to curse him, but I felt too weak.

He took my hand and bound it with a leather belt.

I was completely naked, so my eyes widened as he touched me.

‎Then he grabbed me by my waist and tossed me over his shoulder.

‎I felt pain shoot up from my shoulder. The silver bullet was still inside, burning me. I could barely focus on how I was completely naked and on his shoulder.

‎I let out a moan from the pain.

‎"Quiet." He said in a deep muggy voice.

‎I had no strength to reply.

‎I simply stared at the ground as he carried me away. No doubt to the other hunters to show off his price.

‎My imagination went wild at what he might do to me. It wasn't unheard of that human hunters would rape their victims first.

‎I felt a shiver go down my spine.

‎He had a handsome face, but I knew that he was a monster.

He carried me for half an hour. It was far longer than I expected a human to last, considering their weak bodies.

We entered a cave and the light of the moon was blocked out.

He dropped me against the cave wall.

I grunted.

I felt dizzy. I had clearly lost too much blood.

He stared down at me.

I spat at his feet.

He reached to his side and pulled out his sword.

I stared up at him defiantly. I didn’t care that I wasn’t wearing any clothes.

“Do. It.” I mouthed as I had no strength to speak. I wouldn’t die like the scared little girl I was the night my mother died.

He raised his sword and touched it to my neck.

The silver burned my skin and the pain was excruciating.

I raised my hand reflexively because of the pain.

Then he swung.

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 149: MORNING

The silvery point of the dagger stuck out through the back of my palm. It was already painted in blood. At first, I didn’t feel much pain. That was because I had moved quickly under the threat of death. My mind had been too occupied to worry about an injury. But the very second I was able to stabilize the situation by restraining the hunter again, my body decided to inform me about the injury. My hand tightly held on to the hunter's hand even with the knife sticking through.Even when I felt the burning sensation that silver caused in wolves, I didn’t let go. I knew that letting go would just be giving my life to the hunter under me.He had already shown that he was going to kill me at the first chance he got and without any hesitation to both.If only I could be more like him in that aspect. The hunter tried to move his hand away. At first he tried retracting the knife, but I held tightly to it. His motion caused the blade to shift inside my palm. It caused a great amount of pa

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 148: MORNING

I was almost too slow to notice it.I pinned the hunter to the ground and stared him down as I asked him questions to help pour out my growing rage. For years I had been suffering from the consequences of actions carried out by hunters. And now, for the first time, I had a hunter within my grasp. I wasn’t sure what to do with him at first. I knew I should kill him but I quickly came to the realization that killing wasn’t as easy as I thought.I then started asking him questions. Of course I was genuinely questioning him. There wasn’t really any vital information I felt I could acquire from him. We weren’t lacking information. And even if we were, I soon discovered that he was only a low level hunter. What could he know?My questions were really just taunting and a way for me to pour out my anger. The hunter’s reaction was underwhelming to say the least. Instead of giving any kind of satisfactory reaction, he just cowered in fear through out the entire interrogation. It was actua

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 147: MORNING

The forest was silent around us.I held the hunter down and stared directly at him. He stared back at me with a horrified gaze.I was in the middle of a very huge dilemma. How could I kill someone? It wasn’t like I didn’t believe I could. I had already seen that my strength greatly surpassed these humans. Right now the hunter was completely living based on my mercy. It turned out that they weren’t actually so tough when you took away their silver weapons. In fact, he was actually very scared.“What… are you?” The hunter asked again.I frowned at him, but I decided to answer him this time. I had not been able to make a decision on what to do with yet, so I decided to just reply him. Who knows? Maybe I would be able to come to some sort of realization after replying him. Or maybe I would be able to muster the resolve to simply kill him. “I’m a wolf.” I replied. I wasn’t going to hide what I was from him so I told him in the most direct way possible. I did it deliberately becau

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 146: MORNING

I noticed the whistle immediately. My mind worked very quickly in that instant as I made the connection between the whistle the hunter had a the one that Phoenix had showed us.I remembered how Phoenix told us that the whistle was a way for the hunters to alert their other members. The hunter was far away from me. I had been very wary when I saw him at first and I didn’t even know what to do. But once I saw the whistle I knew that I could no longer back down. What I did now would have a great effect on our plan. The hunter was going to alert the other hunters in his team. Once he did that, there was no turning back.My entire body tensed up and I dashed forward. If not for the special circumstances then I might have had a different reaction to seeing a hunter. But there was no hesitation now. I just had to think of Phoenix and realize that this would be threatening his safety. That was enough motivation. Talk less of when I thought of all the others. I had actually grown an attac

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 145: MORNING

Phoenix finished reviewing the plan with us within five minutes. Then it was already time for us to move on. I was a little hesitant at first, but I had no choice but to move on when I saw Rowena going. Oisin told us the direction of the camp and the estimated distance. Then he also told us the route to follow to get to our specific destinations. I listened carefully and made sure that I memorized everything he said. My hand trembled slightly as I secured the dagger Phoenix gave me to my waist. Why did I feel like this? I wasn’t someone who got scared easily. I hardly got scared actually. But now there was a faint sense of dear in my heart. It didn’t stop me from moving forward but it created a level of hesitation in me. I looked back at Phoenix as I left on my own path. He was already coordinating with both spirit animals to form a trap for the hunters. Like I said before, I had no problem with taking out hunters. I liked it actually and I would have loved to do it myself

  • MY SECOND-CHANCE MATE IS A WOLF HUNTER   CHAPTER 144: MORNING

“You will have to sneak your way into their camp, then get their attention.” Phoenix said. I pictured myself jumping out if the bushes in front of up to twenty hunters. What were my chances of actually surviving that? “I don’t want you to put yourself in excessive danger, so please be careful about it.” Phoenix said. But he wasn’t only speaking to me. He was talking to all of us. All three of us to be specific. When I thought of that number I wasn’t very encouraged. “Alright, Oisin tell them where the camp is. You’ll all need to work at the same time to give the illusion that they are being attacked from different sides. Your timing doesn’t have to be perfect but it should be close enough. Also make sure that you cover the entire perimeter by staying away from each other as much as possible.” Phoenix said. “If we are far from each other how’ll we coordinate our distractions?” Rowena asked. Phoenix’s face paled slightly. “That is also a good question.” He said. I was starting to
