Chapter 20

I Can Save Mrs. Lyla.

Sage Dominic.

The woman in front of me didn't know how much of a tease she was to me, just by simply existing. The amount of restraint I had was enough to make me go mad because every time I saw her, I wanted to have her bent over my knees or have her on her knees with her pretty little mouth covering my length.

I wanted to watch the tears flow from those beautiful eyes as she choked on my length. Every time I saw her in the halls of the school with her pencil skirts and trousers, I just wanted to rip those clothes out of her body and sink my length into her hot, wet and loving opening.

She was mine, but she didn't know it yet. I was going to carve my name in her soul until nothing else in the world mattered to her.

"Seriously, dude... What's her deal with you?" Elijah sat beside me, resting his head against the wall. "I know you don't like it when I talk about her, but still... You need to be careful of women like that. She may be after your father's wealth. Women like her are gold-diggers."

"Shut up!" My voice was sharper than a knife. I hated that tone. I hated it when someone tried to look her way with a bad look or wicked tongue.

"Damn, dude!" He frowned and threw his face away from my direction. "I'm just looking out for you."

I was relieved that he didn't pursue the discussion any further. If there was anything I knew about him, he respected people, even though he could be overbearing sometimes.

"Look out for your father's company." I shot back at him, scrolling through my phone.

My father had tasked me with a new job of scouting potential companies to invest in since the dinner event did not produce any promising candidates.

This had taken more of my time than any other thing, well, except the thoughts of my woman. Lyla. Thinking about her made me feel refreshed.

I stretched my long legs and stood up.

"Let's go." It was more of a command to Elijah, but with his attitude, he didn't seem to care. He just picked up his bag and followed me like an obedient dog.

"Are you sure you don't want to join any team? Basketball, football?" He strolled casually beside me. "You would be able to learn how to interact with people, especially your teammates. Even though everyone is actually scared of you... If they get to meet you and uncover the sweet side—"

"I have no sweet side." That was the most disgusting thing I had ever been described with. "And I can interact with anyone of my choosing. I just don't feel like making unnecessary connections with spoiled children who will likely bring an end to their parents'companies."

Elijah only sighed and shook his head, clearly tired of my behaviour. I didn't care, and he knew it.

"Then, where are we headed right now?" He asked after a while.

I didn't reply as we kept walking through the hallways. I barely noted how students and teachers parted ways for us to pass. My mind was fixed towards one place— the principal's office. There was something she had promised me, and I intended to go take it since it was taking a lot of time.

We passed the gym where we found a crowd gathering at the entrance. People were whispering loudly that we could basically summarise the entirety of the conversation.

"She fell inside by mistake." A wide-eyed student pointed at the pool which we could see due to the see-through windows of the gymnasium.

"No. Little Girl pushed her inside. Though, it was by mistake. She didn't see her coming."

"What do we do?"

"Get the nurse! Someone has fallen into the pool!"

"It's a teacher! She is drowning!"

"What's all the fuss about?" Elijah sounded annoyed beside me. He hadn't noticed the crowd and I could guess his mind was elsewhere. "They are too loud. Sage, can't you just expel all of them? Their —"

"It seems like someone has fallen into the swimming pool. A teacher, I presume." I answered, not caring about the fuss.

The students were either really stupid or they were cowards. Anyhow, I pitied whoever had fallen into the pool. All these students would do is take pictures and cry when the teacher is dead. They wouldn't lift a single finger to save the person.

There were sudden loud gasps.

"Sage is coming!" Someone barked from the crowd. "We need to get out of her before he punishes us for pushing her into the pool. He said we shouldn't touch a single strand of her hair."

And just like that, all my anxiety drowned as I froze in step.

Elijah had also heard what the student had said because he scoffed. "You? Care about whoever is drowning in that pool? We both know you care about nobody." He paused for a while. "Well, except this new teacher which is—"

I wasn't listening to his rants anymore. I could feel my heart hammering inside my ribcage. Fear clawed the entirety of my being as I took heavy and fast steps towards the swimming pool. It couldn't be possible. She couldn't be drowning. We just finished talking an hour ago... How could this have happened?

My throat tightened when I saw the flailing figure under the water. She was trying to come up as she choked and beat everywhere. Her eyes were bulging and she was swallowing a whole lot of water. I didn't think twice before diving into the water. I ignored the fact that I was allergic to cold. I ignored the fact that I had asthma. I didn't care. I had to save her. I had to save Lyla!

My arms found her waist and grabbed, pulling her out of the water.

"Why didn't someone help her?" I yelled so loudly for the first time in my life. My eyes were red with anger as I lay Lyla across the floor. She was barely breathing and her face had turned blue. I felt useless because I didn't know how to resuscitate her. I didn't know the basic CPR for a drowning person.

"You said we should never touch her." A weak voice said from the crowd.

I didn't care about arguments. I cared about the woman in front of me. The woman who had brought light into my darkness.

"Who can save her? Who can rescue her?" I was yelling as I leaned forward to check if she was breathing.

"I can." A soft voice came from my side and I looked up to find Elijah's girlfriend rushing to my side. "I can save Mrs. Lyla."

She didn't look disgusted at all about anything.“What other things did he get for you?” She peered into the box that sat in front of us, trying to rummage through it.“You know I can't accept this, right?” Right now, I needed her support for me to turn down these gifts. It was too much. I couldn't handle something this big.“Why not?” Ivy paused and lifted her head to stare at me with a frown.“It's not right, and you know that.” I tried to stress out, but Ivy didn't seem to be following. “He is… you know, he's my student. I'm his teacher. This kind of thing isn't supposed to be going on between us.”Ivy's eyebrows rose further up and she rolled her eyes. “Take it as a simple gift from a student.”“Simple? You call this simple?” I pointed to the document that still lay on the table. “It's a freaking Jewellery store. Not

I was tempted to go over to his house, but I didn't want a repeat of the last time.I was currently sitting in my office when the door was forcefully pushed open, and my least favourite person walked into the office.“Hello, Sara.” I folded my hands on my table and sat up to face her squarely. She gave me a once-over before taking in my office as if she had never been here before.“Will Sage be coming for Camp?” She asked outrightly.“Excuse me?”“You heard me right. Or are you dumb?”I choose to ignore her choice of words. “I heard you loud and clear, but what I don't understand is why you're asking me.”“Aren't you the one he's fucking?” She said calmly, not at all fazed by the vulgarity of what she was saying.“If you were remanded in court and asked to prove those allegations, would you be able to?”“Don't you

I rolled my eyes and began to prepare for school.“You're quite late today. That's so unlike you.” Dominic, one of my male colleagues, pointed out as we walked side by side down the corridor.I shrugged. “I slept late, and I woke up late.”His mouth curved into a small smile, “Your husband kept you up all night, aye?” He teased slightly, and it took all of me not wince at his words.I forced a smile on my face with a little ‘heh heh’ to avoid the question. “So, are you prepared for the camping experience?”He understood my discomfort and immediately changed the subject. “I wasn't picked. There are only two male teachers coming while the rest are females. Aren't you aware of this?” He squinted as if trying to remember something. “Seeing that you're the coordinator of the camp?”“Coordinator?” I

Chapter 47Coming To Camp?Lyla Atelo.I came home with a stupid smile on my face. Sage had made my entire evening and I was just smiling like a fool.“You're back," my husband appeared from the corner of the doorway leading to the kitchen. He wore an apron which suggested that he was cooking.I frowned slightly at the sight of that, while waiting for him to complain that I had come home late.“I'm back, yes.” I smiled a little at him.“And in high spirits as well.” He noted that part, “I hope you had a great day at work.”“I did. How about you?” I shrugged off my shoulder bag which was beginning to get heavy and set it on the table, taking in a deep breath of what he was cooking.“I made dinner. Would you like some?” He noted the actions of my nose before asking, but I shook my head immediately.I knew my husband by now. I could guess what he wanted from me, but I waited for him to say it. "Unless you want your colleagues to keep speculating that something is going on between us."Our eyes met when he said that, and I paused to think. Did he also have in mind the same question I had? I wanted to ask if there was actually something going on between us, but I didn't dare voice my question out. I didn't want to sound desperate, but still... something that Michelle said earlier egged me at the back of my mind."What do you think about Ivy?" I averted my gaze from his face and looked down to the tarred road. I looked everywhere else but at him. "Is it true you're into older women, and I'm just one of your conquest?"I suddenly felt the cold night wind hit my skin, and I looked up in alarm to see Sage backing away from him. He stared at me with an emotion I couldn't decipher before spinning his car key between his thumb and index finger.
