Aggrieved 3

Stephanie left the cart and Florence there where they stood. That was what she would do. Of course that was the best thing to do. Florence was obviously surprised by her sudden step of action. She definitely didn’t know what she was up to.

“Sweetheart, take it easy” Florence tried to calm her. Her voice sounded sympathetic amidst fear. It seemed she felt Stephanie would hurt herself.

“It’s okay” Stephanie replied without hesitating. She continued to the exit. She was planning how she would carry out her intentions in her head.

An hour later, she stood in front of her house. She looked impatient. She was waiting for someone. She moved back and forth trying to make the time faster. Waiting, that was one of the things she hated most.

She was about putting her phone to her ear when a car zoomed towards her direction. She heaved a sigh of relief.

The car packed right in front of her. The driver wound the window glass and stuck out his head. Stephanie watched patiently as she found the whole situation strange.

“Mrs Phillip” the driver read from a paper he had in his hand. He later faced Stephanie.

“Yeah, yes” Stephanie quickly answered. She already knew what he was going to do. He wanted to confirm if he was in the right place. Protocols.

“Mrs Phillip?” the driver asked despite getting the answer. There was something wrong with the way he stared at Stephanie. Maybe he was angry she wasn’t patient.

“I already answered you” Stephanie answered impatiently. She should be annoyed with this driver. He already made her waited. He was also getting on her nerves again without any apology for his lateness.

“Is this 64,Ave Maria….” The driver should have known where he was right now. He was in the right place. This had gotten more than protocol. He was acting unnecessarily.

“Could you please get down and help me put my luggage in the trunk?” Stephanie interrupted him. Her voice had slightly become louder. She needed to show her level of seriousness to this annoying driver.

“Okay” the driver replied after starting for a moment. He looked like he didn’t understand all what was going on. He came down from the car. He staggered and almost fell to the ground. Stephanie helped him to his feet.

That was when she realized he was drunk heavily to stupor. He reeked of alcohol. It was still in the morning, for a man to be as drunk as this by this time only meant he was an irresponsible man. Stephanie felt sorry for his wife.

Stephanie was not against alcohols. She even used to take sometimes, to party. That was what it was made for. It was not to be taken during work by anybody talk less of a driver.

Stephanie took her hands off him. It was disgusting to her. She took it off her mind. His drinking wasn’t any of her problem. He and his family should worry about that and she should worry about getting another driver.

She felt disappointed. She had already wasted enough time before this one showed up. She wanted to leave fast before her mind would grew weak and decided to stay. She looked at the driver again. There was no way he could drive like this. She would not allow him to.

“How can you be so drunk in the morning?” Stephanie reprimanded him. He had contributed to her problem.

“I'm sorry,ma'am” the driver begged. Though he didn’t sound like he meant it. Even if he meant that, it would not solve anything.

“You're sorry? You knew how long I waited before you showed up. Now I will have to call another driver who will also take another eternity to get here” Stephanie was burning with anger.

“You don’t need to call another driver,I can take you anywhere” the driver leaned on the car. He had grew tired standing.

“Anywhere like the hospital or the morgue or the cemetery?” Stephanie spoke slowly and not very loud.

“Yeah” the driver replied. He smiled. His face changed like he just realized something. “No,ma'am. Don’t be negative. I drove all the way here by myself. I see everything clearly” He shook a finger, pointing it at Stephanie.

“You will have to drive all the way out of here the same way you drove in here because I can’t let you drive me” she dismissed him and made a call. He had wasted a lot of her time.

“I must make this trip. I have an idea” the driver screamed. Stephanie ignored him. There was nothing he could do to help.

“You can’t let me drive you but I can let you drive me if you can drive” he spoke slowly, it seemed he was unsure what her reaction would be.

Stephanie face beamed. That would be better. He was already here. Getting another driver would take more time. She nodded affirmatively.

“Where are the luggage?” he asked looking around. Stephanie hissed. She had not brought them outside. She was in more than enough confusions. She was frustrated.

She made a call to get a driver. She got a drunkard who made her waited adding to her emotional mess. That was enough to make her lose her mind. She walked into the house to get her luggage. She heard the driver’s heavy footsteps behind her. She turned to face him.

“No, you don’t need to come. Just wait for me here” she instructed. The driver remained where he stood.

She would never let him into the house. Drunk people throw up and it might be his time to throw up.

Though it would feel good if he threw up on her useless husband and his properties but he should just stay outside. He might become an extra luggage to drag after throwing up. That would only waste more time.

“By the car” Stephanie added as she realized he wanted to remain on that spot. The driver walked back to where the car was parked. He popped the trunk open and went to sit in the car.

Stephanie felt okay by that. She entered the house to bring out her luggage.
